Scoring Mr. Romeo Paperback – January 16, 2018

Here’s a tip: never underestimate romance.

Falling in love was the furthest thing from my mind. I’m a single mother raising a strong little boy, and he is my one and only priority.

The universe felt otherwise, sending me―actually, my son’s soccer ball―hurdling toward a stunningly handsome, perfect man, who said all the right things. He made it hard to ignore how much I missed romance.

In the past, when I met a man, they ran as soon as they heard I was a widow with a child. Not this guy. No, he fell in love with my son, and in turn my son fell in love with him. But, it was hard to believe he felt the same about me. My job was to be the strong one―to protect our hearts from sweet dreams that never lasted.

~~~
Women told me I was a master of romance. They were right. I knew how to sweep a woman off her feet, to make her feel special, and good in all the right places. I wasn’t a saint. I’ve had my share of one-night stands. They served their purpose, giving me a steady diet of romance without the hassle of commitment.
Then one day at the park, a soccer ball came careening toward my head, and my life changed in an instant. I never imagined that true love would come in the form of a five-year-old little boy. And then I got to know his mother: She was strong, independent, drop-dead gorgeous, and someone I desired - I just needed to prove it to her.
She called me Mr. Romeo, and that was fine with me.
Lesson learned: Love always trumps everything.
While it seems that most books out there are portraying alpha males as their main hero, is always refreshing to find that sweet, honest to goodness character that's always ready to go the extra mile for his heroine and those he loves.
Enter Luca Benedetto. I can honestly say that I've never swooned so hard after a character all the years I've been reading. Luca is perfection personified. He has a career he loves and friends that he adores and would do anything for. While he wasn't planning on having any kind of relationship or even going as far as to falling in love, he knew there was something missing in his life. A crazy encounter with a young single mom and her little boy and Luca starts comprehending exactly what was missing from his life.
I love, love, love how he understood Sabrina from the get go, he accepted her past and embraced her present which included her sweet little boy. He never pushed her and he showed her every step of the way how a woman should be treated, how she should be cherished, how she should be loved. Luca and Sabrina's story is the slow burn kind and it fits the characters perfectly. But not only did Luca fell for and conquered Sabrina's heart, he also fell for her boy, Mikey. He became Mikey's father figure in a way and I was in awe of the unconditional love and support he provided to that little boy.
While I really liked the first two installments of this series, Scoring Mr. Romeo is the icing on a very delicious cake created by the dynamic duo that is Madden and Schwehm. The ladies outdid themselves with this story, with the characters, creating the perfect combination of sweetness, tenderness, sensuality and sexiness. Luca Benedetto is the type of character that stays with you because he is the type of man that any girl would wish for in real life.
This book is simply the definition of romance done right as well as the right way to write a great male hero. I applaud the authors for bringing such a magnificent hero to life, for creating a real gentleman who doesn't need to show dominance in order to show his leading lady that he's interested, for letting us all know that it's ok for a man to show his feelings without losing his masculinity.
Scoring Mr. Romeo is simply extraordinary. Highly recommended!!!
Fantastic & fun story! The only thing keeping it from being 5+ is that there was an SOB (seemingly obligatory breakup) that seemed forced. That annoyed me. Thankfully, it did NOT last overly long, the way it was resolved was extremely well, and we get to see them together again for several chapter after it - all of which made for an overall happy read!
Luca is one of my favorite characters! The way he lays his heart on the line, the way he interacts w/ Mikey, the way he is with his friends - thumbs up! ALSO! The end contains a bit of a teaser for the next book, which was hilarious & makes me eager to read that one! : )
Scoring Mr. Romeo is by far THE best in this series. A.M. Madden and Joanne Schwehm have certainly found their rhythm as they beautifully crafted a book boyfriend in Luca Benedetto who is clearly the epitome of romantic. Believe me when I tell you: this man has it all going on and then some. He's not like his best buds Jude and Kyle. He doesn't need snark or a quick wit to win a woman over. On the contrary, Luca is all about the slow seduction, the craving to figure out exactly what a woman needs and how to make her feel adored. It doesn't get much better than that!!
Oh my goodness. To be cherished by Luca is something extraordinary. And never in a million years did Sabrina Callahan ever expect to feel like that from any man. This single mom of the whirlwind named Mikey was truly thrown for a loop when she meets the dashing yet humble Italian dreamboat by accident at her son's school. And as their worlds seemingly collide over and over again, it became apparent that both Sabrina and Luca might just have a magic together neither even knew they wanted.
Scoring Mr. Romeo is a slow-burn romance like no other. The journey Luca and Sabrina take to try and meld their lives is never easy but it is oh so worth each twist and turn. They have a great support system in Cassie and Becky and the bits of brevity thrown in from the foursome that is Jude, Kyle, Brae and especially that crazy broad Vanessa make this book complete. There is such love between all of them and I really adored watching as they took Sabrina into their group and made her feel welcome.
But it's the swoonworthy actions of Luca that brought me to my knees over and over again. Sabrina knows what she has and despite some reservations because of a former marriage gone bad, she knows a good man when she sees him. Luca is charm personified. Not only he is considerate, sweet and tender but mamma mia, the man is off the rails sexy. I honestly don't think I'll recover from the 'Luca effect' any time soon. And trust me, no one would blame me.
Scoring Mr. Romeo is a must read. A book that will melt your heart and leave you in a big puddle of love. 5 huge stars!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Ooh Luca... Have some tissues at the ready!! 5*+
What a brilliant series and I’m so glad it’s not over.!
Three friends... three unique stories Jude set the bar high and then we had Kyle with all his humour and antics and then there is Luca .!
Luca has always come across as the more romantic and endearing of the three but A.M. Madden purposely kept us waiting, making the build up to his story all the more worth it.
Scoring Mr. Romeo is beautifully written and from the very beginning you knew this story was going to pull at your heartstrings... is this the mother and little boy that Cassie mentioned to Venessa previously? You are hooked already.
Luca went to surprise Cassie but it backfired... the surprise was on him in the form of little hand prints all over the front of his trousers it’s a very sweet moment because it’s at this point Luca is introduced to Mickey and his beautiful mother Sabrina, It made for a perfect way to make introductions and Luca is already smitten.
It takes a football match and another altercation curtesy of Mickey for a relationship to form.
We soon start to find out exactly what happened to Venessa and Mickey and the truth about Dillon. Sabrina is very cautious and protective over Mickey, he’s already been through so much but meeting Luca brings hope and plenty of happiness something they have lacked of late.
Luca is perfect in every way, he’s genuine and kind and Mickey refers to him as his best friend as for Sabrina and Luca well their relationship is becoming so much more but it took one incident to derail just that. It’s a situation that could have been avoided or dealt with differently but in the light of everything that is Sabrina and Mickey you know it’s only a matter of time before something happens to cause upset.
It’s from this moment that this story becomes very emotional, you need plenty of tissues and patience.
On Cassie’s advice, Sabrina turns up at the Hamptons, it’s a hold your breath moment while Sabrina explains to Luca her actions
she tells him she loves him which is what he’s been waiting to hear but is it too,late..
After Luca and Sabrina spend some much needed time together they collect Mickey... it’s another beautiful moment and from this point it’s all smiles.
A.M. Madden gives us another stunning epilogue add to that the hint of what to expect with Dante and Cassie... can’t wait.!
I see Kyle and Venessa are still at it with their shenanigans..
