Great sub within it's limits
I was on the fence about this purchase for quite awhile, particularly due to some of the reviews commenting about manufacturing issues and lack of warranty support due to 'unauthorized internet dealers' (which could still be an issue I suppose) but so far I'm glad I bought it! I figure for the price I paid, even if it does crap out hopefully I'll have gotten my money's worth out of it by then!Since I'm primarily going for sound quality I paired it with a sealed box BBox E12S 12-Inch Single Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure with a stated .9 cubic foot volume, which is as close as I could find to Alpine's recommended .75cu ft. sealed box volume in a pre-fab box. Threw on a nice grill Alpine KTE-12G (pricey but well worth it - tight-fitting but still allows room for massive excursion!) to protect the sub from random cone or surround-destroying junk, etc.All wiring was done in 'overkill mode' since it's going to be handling some power, so it's all wired up with 10' feet TRUE 8 Gauge AWG CCA Speaker Wire Car Home Audio, with the Kenwood KDC-X500 Single Din Bluetooth In-Dash CD/AM/FM Car Stereo providing the audio signal (which also has a dedicated subwoofer pre-amp output with independent LPF crossover/gain settings in addition to your usual loudness and bass boost controls, etc).This combo has been successfully driven (quite well IMO) at 1ohm stable for long periods by the DUB DUBa11000D Mono Channel Amplifier with Max 1100 Watt Output, Brushed Finish (Black) (1100W RMS@1ohm) with the sub in a down-firing position - tight and punchy but quite capable of rattling your brains when you want!Barring any future problems with it, I would unconditionally recommend it to anyone looking for a performance subwoofer in the 'under $200 range'.Plan to soon upgrade to a Skar Audio SK-1500.1Dv2 Monoblock Class D MOSFET Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control, 1500W so we'll see how it handles the increased power. I'll try to update this review once that's complete....UPDATE: It seems the SKAR 1500 was too much for this sub. It sounded great while it lasted (about 2 weeks of pretty heavy use on the new amp) before it popped. The sub had been running great for about 8months at fairly high volume in a daily driver on the DUBa11000D prior to the upgrade. Now looking for a replacement...

As a professional installer I can confirm that these subs are 100% worth the money. Only reason I ordered them off amazon and not my shop is the fact that even with my discount, it was still cheaper on here. These subs were an upgrade from 2 15 inch kicker CVRs that I decided just took up too much of my trunk space. I am running them in a ported box in my trunk and am almost done breaking them in so I though I'd go ahead and write a review. I am running them off of an Alpine mrx-m110 amp which is rated at just under 1200 RMS into 2 ohms. Compared to the 15 inch kickers I was previously running, I have noticed quite a difference actually. First off they hit very deep and sound very smooth compared to my old 15s. As far as SPL I would say my old 15s were slightly louder but far lower sounding audio quality. Obviously since I have 2 of these and they are being ran at 1200 RMS together, I have a lot of headroom which leads me to the only really possible con I have with them. They have a far less noticeable presence at low volumes than my 15s. Obviously at low volumes I am running them at very low wattage making them hardly respond since it takes a high amount of wattage to push them. It took a lot of tuning to get them to hit decently on low volumes but not clip the amp at high volumes. Basically make sure you have an amp that can run them. I would say 1200 RMS MINIMUM for 2 (600 for 1). Alpine discontinued their 2400 watt x power amp which really upset me since I literally do not trust ANY of these pathetic 1 ohm stable 100$ class D amps. I have more customers come in with these cheaply made amps complaining that they are having electrical issues and they are blowing and starting on fire etc. Basically DONT BUY CHEAP AMPs. If you have never heard of it, there's a reason. Obviously there are quality amps out there that are over 1200 watts at 2 ohms but for now I like to stick with Alpine everything in my car. If you are someone who cares about quality AND SPL (loudness), these subs are great for you AS LONG as you run them off a quality amp.
