Product Description

Exo Terra Glass Terrarium Reptile Kit is the ideal amphibian or reptile enclosure designed by European herpetologists. Reptile habitat’s front doors allow easy access for maintenance and feeding. A specially designed lock will prevent escape and the doors can be opened separately. The full screen top ventilation allows UVB reptile light and infrared penetration and is completely removable for easy access while decorating or cleaning. In the back of the screen cover are 5 closable wire or tube inlets on both sides to install Heat Wave reptile rocks, reptile waterfalls, sensors, etc. inside the terrarium. The bottom plate of the reptile tank is raised to mount a substrate reptile heater to heat a part of the extended ground surface. The extra high fixed front window is ideal for thick layers of reptile substrates or reptile bedding (burrowing reptiles), reptile aquarium parts (Paludarium) or to mount a reptile hide den. The natural reptile background is the same color as other Exo Terra reptile décor items and provides a reptile climbing décor dimension. Exo Terra has designed and developed a wide range of reptile accessories, terrarium décor, and terrariums for a variety of reptiles and amphibian pets including bearded dragons, geckos, snakes, crested geckos, turtles, chameleons, leopard geckos, lizards, and frogs. Some of the reptile supplies include: reptile heat lamps, reptile heating pads, reptile thermostats, reptile humidifiers, reptile mister, reptile thermometer, reptile water bowls, reptile fogger, reptile lights, reptile heat bulbs, reptile plants (fake plants), reptile vines, reptile tank accessories, reptile tank décor, reptile heat mat, reptile lamps, reptile tweezers, reptile hides and caves, reptile food, reptile calcium, reptile light fixtures, reptile basking lights, reptile caves, reptile feeding tongs, reptile food dishes, reptile dripper, and reptile starter kits. Reptile cage terrarium is 18 W x 18 D x 18 H inches (45.72 x 45.72 x 45.72 cm).

UPDATE:2-4-14UPS came to pick up the 2nd damaged on while I was at work. Of course, they can't schedule a pick up with me (They can businesses)but they tell me that the drivers route doesn't vary much so they should be there the same time Tuesday around 2:30PM (today). So I TAKE OFF WORK at noon to be sure I'm here when they arrive to pick up the broken shipment. Do you think they arrived around 2:30? NO.Amazon actually calls me around 4pm. My order has been CANCELED. UPS noticed the item was broken when they were loading it into the truck to deliver. (At least they are now aware!) So not I have no choice but to take the refund. Amazon so far has been very straight forward and upfront with me. They need to verify stock, so if you are looking at this page today, you will see that the item is flagged and can not be ordered thru Amazon until their review is complete. (AS OF TODAY 2-4-14)Amazon also said they would call me directly when this was resolved (the rep did call me to advise me directly about the shipping problem rather than let the auto text tell me my order was canceled) and let me know the item was ready for delivery and in stock. She also said to me that they would work with me on the price if it should happen to go up in the next month or so. I hope this is true. I hope I get it for the current price of two hundred thirty-nine dollars with Amazon Prime shipping. I feel this is the least they could do, as I was shipped 3 defective/damaged items, took time off from work to be home and make sure my item was returned per their instructions. I also emailed them detailed pictures (That I can't seem to be able to post here) that show the damage and how they are shipping it wrong. Lets not forget the hassle, the headache and the anger of not getting what I wanted, when promised and in a useable/new condition. At around 5:15pm, UPS finally arrives and takes the damaged terrarium away. They were very apologetic and professional. I also explained to him what is going wrong with the item in shipping, just in case they ship another later. Now I wait.UPDATE: 2-3-14Another delay in shipping, this time they deliver the item to the wrong warehouse further from me.UPDATE: 2-1-14 Received another email last night stating my order was to be delivered today (Saturday) as promised. The order was delivered around 10:30am while I was away. The second package had labels for "THIS SIDE UP" and "Handle with Care" Unfortunately the labels were on ALL the sides, so how could anyone tell which was the actual way? The answer is simple. THEY DON'T The second one arrived damaged and broken. I did open this to get a peek and what I saw says a lot. I believe the issue is not the boxes, or small foam pads used to protect the inner box from the outer. I think the issue is the fact they are shipping these items HORIZONTALLY and not VERTICALLY. This is a TALL cage and has two long glass doors. It is these doors that are breaking away from the frame. The outer glass 'shell' appears to be fully intact, but it's the doors that broke off. The left door separated form the hinge points and was loose in the inside of the terrarium. The right door faired worse and not only had fallen off the hinges, but had broken into several large shards of glass. The frame and hinge locations on the main housing were scuffed up a but, but not broken. This tells me that in my case, because they shipped it on it's side, the doors are allowed to bounce during shipment. As mentioned by others, the hinges are plastic and not super heavy duty. (But probably adequate for the intended purpose) during shipment, the doors bounce over bumps during handling and such. I think the solution is a simple fix. MAKE SURE the terrariums are shipped in the proper orientation, VERTICLE in this case and place some Styrofoam or other barrier INSIDE the enclosure to support the glass doors so that minor bumps and such do not cause premature hinge failure. ARE YOU LISTENIG AMAZON? How about you EXO TERRA? (The outer box on the second one appears to be the same as the first, upon closer inspection, (It was daylight) the outer box is ALSO from Exo Terra, and had info about model and such. It appears this is how Exo Terra ships these to amazons warehouse. One last thing...The first one was delivers via UPS. The second was via FED EX.UPDATE: 1-31-14 Just received a text from Amazon stating "Your package with .... is delayed by the carrier. Please check with the carrier for updated delivery date"EDIT: I'm not sure why, but I am not able to upload pictures.1-30-14I will post a proper review of the item itself when I finally get it. I wanted to post my experience with the UPS delivery of this item, for others to read before attempting to purchace, and how it was handled.UPS delivered this to me this evening, and I was waiting for him. The box was shuffled and moved off the truck, and dollied up to my open garage. Having read the reviews prior to ordering, I was not going to just let him go without opeing the item. The outer box was slightly crushed, but intact. The inner box was OK. The UPS guy laid the item on its side (this has heavy glass doors that could/ probably broke due to being shipped and bounced on it's side) As he did you could hear the glass rolling around in the inner box. I didn't open it any further as it was definately broken. I refused the shippment and the driver hauled it back into truck. Within the next hour, I recieved two texts from Amazon, one saying my package was refused the other about 20 minutes later stating the package was already heading back to Amazon. wow. That was quick.Never having refused an Amazon shipment, (I couldn't carry this myself and drop it off to return it) I wasn't sure what to do. I had a heck of a time contacting Amazon. I wouild have thought it would have been easier. Maybe it was just me, but searches and links lead to places that would not answer my questions or just allowed me to print a return label. I had a few errands to run and when I came back (1.5 hours later) finally got a hold of them. Apearantly you have to link the contact link and navigate to where you type in your phone number for a call back or start a chat or email. I entered my number and was called within 10 seconds. I was connected almost instantly to a live person who spoke clear English! My customer service person was named Sherone. (I hope I can use her first name because he was OUTSTANDING and deserved recognition!) Within a few minutes, she verified my order was on it's way back via UPS, and arranged a replacement that will be sent priority (as well as be packaged better and marked accordingly. I got an email with a order number and other information from her while I was still on the line. She listened to everything I said and was very apologetic. She made this right for me. I'm expecting my shipment Saturday, (I missed the 5PM deadline for overnight shipping which I would have gotten had it not been so late) and hopefully all will be well. I have posted a picture of how this was delivered to my home. The item I bought was sold by Amazon. Part of the blame I believe should go to them for such poor boxing of an obviously delicate item with no FRAGILE labels or "THIS SIDE UP" labels. Part of the blame should go to Exo Terra as the inner box was in no way marked fragile. I'm also going to thro UPS in the mix for what I believe may have been improperly transported. (on it's side)FYI, if this happens and you wait too long, the option to rate packaging is removed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, HIGHLY recommended.
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2017
I bought the small tall exo terra terrarium planning to get an arboreal (climbing) gecko. I ended up getting the cheaper, easier leopard gecko which is a non arboreal species so it did not need the height this terrarium provides, but despite my changed decision this terrarium is still an amazing house for my pet. here is a list of pros and cons

PROS
Great ventilation system in the sides and top allowing fresh air to enter the terrarium freely
Durable screen top made of metal that can support a heat light and any other things you need to keep out of the way.
Quality glass doors that do not wiggle whatsoever and have a solid lock at the bottom. (they also have holes for a combination lock to fit through)
Top panel includes a wire escape incase you need a humidifier or any other thing that has a cord that allows you to run the wires through small holes in the top (these holes are too small for any live food to escape through)
Background looks great and makes the enclosure look neat and tidy
Bottom section under the vents is water proof which is great for amphibians
Has small support legs allowing you to stick heating pads to the bottom if needed.
Is very spacious and allows for a multitude of decoration options.
The design looks soooooo nice and the doors are just something you find with other brands. (looks the best if you clean it regularly)
Shipping was good and package came on time with absolutely zero damage

CONS
The terrarium does not hold humidity well. (this problem can be fixed with an electric humidifier.)
Background is made out of Styrofoam which may be a problem for some people
Can be hard to find a floor mat to fit these dimensions
This terrarium is pretty heavy and I would suggest you put it on a sturdy surface and not too high up (if this fell on someone it could be bad)

overall this is a very high quality terrarium and is completely worth the money. Some accessories that you'll need to come along with this are mat/substrate, food and water dishes, heat lamp, decorator plants, vitamin supplements to sprinkle on your pets food, thermometer and humidity gauge, source of humidity (depending on your pet) and a heating pad (optional but recommended). My gecko loves this place (I think) and has never had any problems with it. Compared to terrariums I have had in the past this is the BEST ONE BY FAR. In some of my past terrarium experiences I've had problems with cracks and precipitation build up, this was not a problem with exo terra. Exo Terra has not disappointed and I will continue to by their products.
A few last recommendations would be to settle on a pet before you buy and do your research to know what size and shape is best for your pet (Exo Terra is always a safe option if you want something you know is going to last)

5.0 out of 5 stars Look no further for your Crested Gecko!
Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2018
I heard that this is everyone's favorite terrarium for housing crested geckos so as a first-time crested gecko owner, I bought it and needless to say...I love it! Here are some important aspects of this product:
1. Waterproof bottom - this was important to me because crested geckos need a humid environment and I new I would be putting in a false bottom/drainage layer in mine. After a week of watering the plants and misting the whole tank on a daily basis, there are no leaks.
2. Humidity - it holds the humidity pretty well even with the screen ceiling. The humidity in my tank is currently reading at 70% even though I misted it 4 hours ago. Right now I am misting down the whole tank 1-2 times a day. If I put plastic wrap or bubble wrap over half of the ceiling it would probably hold the humidity even better but right now I can't complain so why change?
3. Escape-proof - trust me, the critters won't get out. Not even small insects like crickets or dubia roaches can escape.
4. Light but sturdy ceiling - it's some kind of metal or aluminum screen and my gecko hangs upside-down from it constantly but it hasn't broken. I even used fishing line to hang a coconut hide (from the ceiling's central bar for support) and it has held up perfectly. It's also completely removable and is locked into place with sliding locks.
5. Glass - To keep the glass clean and free from calcium/mineral deposits I only use distilled or filtered water on the tank and in my mister. This stuff is cheap and I get gallons of it for 39 cents at the local grocery store.
6. Nice 'n tall - Tall enough so that even with a drainage layer and Eco Earth on top of that, there is still plenty of space in the tank for my gecko to climb.
7. Front-opening glass doors - Crested Geckos (and I'm sure other types of geckos too) get spooked easily, especially when you reach in to grab them from above. Being able to reach in from the front is a life-saver, not just for handling the gecko but for setting up/planting/and maintenance in the tank as well! Both doors don't even have to be open at the same time. You can keep one shut and one open.
8. Raised bottom - if for some reason you had to heat the tank, you could put a heat mat underneath the tank with the raised bottom. I shouldn't have to do that with my crested gecko, however. This winter I will probably consider getting a bar/fixture to hang a heat-emitting bulb from above the tank.
9. Background - honestly, I was kind of expecting more from this background when I saw the pictures of this tank online. It looks like it could be made from plastic or some other sturdier material but it is just styrofoam. I'm not sure if there is sealant on it or not but it seems to absorb any water that is misted on it. It is still beautiful even in person but just not the kind of material I was expecting. My gecko seems to stick to it just fine with humidity at the proper levels but if the tank were to dry out, the gecko would probably have trouble sticking to it. I will probably take everything out of the tank in order to build my own background next year.
10. Weight of the tank - don't let its size (small-tall) fool you; this tank is pretty robust and it's not easy for one person to carry by themselves, especially up stairs. Don't expect to be moving this tank around very much once you get it. Find a place to keep it, set it up, and try to move it as little as possible. I knew it wouldn't be light but I also didn't realize it would be so heavy unfilled either. I don't want to know how heavy it is now that it's set up and planted but at least it's not as heavy as an aquarium of the same size with water weighing about 10 lbs per gallon!

Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect terrarium for my crested gecko. My complaints are very minor in the grand scheme of things. Customize it any way you like and have fun creating a paradise for your pet. This tank is sturdy, versatile, and has become a beautiful centerpiece in my home :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great terrarium
Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2018
This is a well-designed, quality terrarium. From the feet at the base to the screened cover, everything about this terrarium is great. The doors open up nice and wide, and you can just open up one or the other to keep your critter inside. You can easily reach every corner of the terrarium through the doors. The cover comes off easily, but when locked in place is nicely secure. Air flow seems good, not too much, not too little.

The background is just a piece of painted/coated styrofoam. I initially thought I would take it out and do something different for the background, but it actually doesn't look bad and my gecko likes to climb on it. It being styrofoam is actually a bonus because it's easy to work with. I attached some plant pots to it, and it was easy to cut into to set those, so it worked out.

Overall this is a well-made, well-designed enclosure. Highly recommended, even if you dump the background and use something else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost good, just the top of the right door glass is cracked/broken
Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2020
Item took a while to arrive, it was packaged very well, a box within a box, plus the original packaging. Everything appeared perfect at first glance. While cleaning and preparing it, my daughter noticed the top black frame was moving/loose, upon close inspection we see the glass is cracked/broken on the top from the left edge to the right for about 3 to 4 inches. I don't want to return the whole thing and will be contacting Amazon to see if I can just get the replacement door. All in all, it is really good size, very well built, top mess allows lots of fresh air in, there are even space to run wires out for heater/humidifier. I am hoping they can just send a replacement door or just the glass.

Update: contacted Amazon and got reimbursed for the cost of the door replacement. All is good.
