Don’t Buy This! Very Poor Design/Quality
I’ve maybe used this a total of five times to clean my 5 & 6 gallon glass carboys that only are used for spring water. Simply sterilizing them with StarSan. The first impression was good, but noticed right away that the bolt and nut holding the wipes made it difficult to insert and remove. I’m addition the material has disintegrated after only five uses and is now completely useless. In fact, the wipes no longer fall so getting this out of the carboy is very difficult, as they need to rotate to the down position to remove. I’ve had to manipulate them with my fingers, or a narrow tool to get them to fall into correct position…which is now very difficult. Even though I rinsed them and squeezed out the excess water and allowed to air dry, the material seams have disintegrated and now the black strips inside the material has busted through. At the same time I bought a similar wand from another seller to use in my one gallon jugs. The biggest difference was the rod, which it metal on this one and therefore requires rubber stopper to keep from chipping the inside of the neck. The 1 gal cleaning rod is plastic (PVC or Nylon) and much easier to use. I’ve since found they offer a 5-6 gallon version which I’ve purchased to replace this item. Hopefully it will last longer and function for me as well as their 1 gallon cleaner, which is much easier to use and still going strong, even though I have used it to sterilize and brush out to clean 5 to 6 times as much…as I gather the spring water in my carboys and then transfer to the one gallon glass jugs for drinking and sharing. Over time my jugs and carboys will develop a mineral ring residue…so I bought these to wipe out between uses to avoid deposits.
