Writing has always been a part of my life. I wrote my first "novel" in 5th grade when I wanted to be a marine biologist. This career choice was short lived; Judy Blume's "Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself" scared me away from oceans forever. So I wrote about them instead. "Mutation in the Sea" told the story of twin siblings who, like a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys Super Mystery, solved cases that even the most astute police officer couldn't decipher.

Today, I'm a historian with a passion for fiction. Some of the best-loved lesbian pulp fiction novels from the 1950s and 1960s inspired me to write my own stories--works like Claire Morgan's "The Price of Salt," and Anne Bannon's "Beebo Brinker" series. I understand the long tradition of romance fiction and its importance in the lives of women readers.

I also publish urban fantasy and paranormal novels under the name E.L. Blaisdell. I write stories filled with angst, miscommunication, and the struggle to balance love and an ambitious career. My characters are not without their flaws, but despite these imperfections, they ultimately find their own happy endings.

I really enjoyed reading this from Hunter's point of view. Please consider continuing this series from Hunter's side of the story. I, for one, would love reading about her thoughts and feelings.

Eliza Lentzski has given us a gift in this novella. I read the original book with this character and was impressed. Now I am mesmerized! I need to keep this short as I need to go and shower! This prequel wasn’t needed, but I sure am glad it was written and I read it! I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

This is the slowest of slow burns I’ve ever read. It’s a good story and definitely an enjoyable read. Could use a bit more tension build up between the two MCs, just to really push the burn up a notch.

Here we are at book 5 of the Winter Jacket series and it's a dream come true for those of us so heavily invested in Elle and Hunter. We've all wondered what Hunter was thinking and feeling as she navigated her crush for Elle and here it is lovingly laid out in black and white. Honestly, it wasn't what I expected at all, and Hunter wasn't what I expected. In some cases, it's a stark collision of what we know about Hunter through Elle's previous internal dialogue and musings for 4 books. As Hunter's thoughts are revealed we gain insight as to why they ran so hot and sometimes got stopped cold. I highly recommend reading Winter Jacket first since they are about the same timeline, but mostly because you will be gifted a few Easter Eggs along the way that refer back to the first novel. This book was such a treat and I hope we see more from this universe of characters.

I didn't love the original Winter Jacket. I'm not one for Teacher/student type romances. However i didn't hate it and Eliza Lentzski seems to have a way to make unlikable characters interesting. So i purchased the sequel, and that sequel..and they grew on me. I became invested in Elle and Hunter's journey so much that by the end of the fourth book i loved them! Given that the first four were written in first person from Elle's point of view i was super excited to see into Hunter's head..and i loved that the author took us right back to the beginning so i was able to then re-read the first book cross referencing the scenes against this one, now having BOTH of point of views. Is that weird? Don't care, it was awesome and i loved them so much more as a result (and have a new appreciation for the first book). The perfect series finale.

If you have already read the "winter jacket" series you will enjoy this book. If you havent I would suggest that you read book 1 first. Book 1 is the beginning of Elle and Hunters relationship basically from Elle's point of view. Book 5 tells it from Hunters point of view. It had been awhile since I had read book 1 so I opened it and found it fun to read them side by side. The setting and dialog was the same but the inner voices were different. I did not realize in book 1 that Hunter was struggling so much.
My only complaint was the abrupt ending. It only covered about a third of the original book. So I read book 1 again. Crazy, but its a great series with many ups and downs that makes it a real page turner.

The slow dance of Hunter’s first love is delightful. You can almost feel her awkwardness as she attempts to find herself, even through her self-doubts. Finding oneself is such a scary process. Glad Hunter had some help along the journey.

I LOVE the Winter Jacket series I have read it numerous times. I was so excited Eliza Lentzski found a way of extending the series by adding a book with Hunters point of view!!!! I believe this book could and should have been a lot longer, I would have loved to have read Hunter's thoughts and point of view through the beginning of her relationship with Elle. However this book definitely gave more insight to Hunter and her relationship with her parents which again I think could have made the book longer to explain how Hunters relationship with her family changed as her relationship with Ellie developed. So excited for another book in this series hopefully Eliza will consider more books with Hunter's point of view that would parallel the original winter jacket series

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet sweet Hunter. Tearing with the goodbye I wasn't ready for

Okay, I was completely unaware of the existence of this prequel. I was quite sad after finishing the 4th book so this gave me that shot of happiness I so much needed. It was so sweet and fun to watch the beginning of things from Hunter POV. Seriously, she need to be protected at all costs. Now I'm sad again, because there's nothing more about these two and they are already deeply missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite Brilliant

Having read a number of this authors stories, for me none of the 'loving'[ relationships in the other stories can quite match the tension, intensity and vulnerability that she manages to evoke between Elle and Hunter. Maybe its the age difference or the status difference that adds to the mix of emotions , but whatever it is works a certain magic. I hope the writer can find another reason to tell us more about Hunter and Elle. Like a number of other readers it would seem, I can never have enough of this couple. One small negative; in her other stories I don't recall as many - or maybe any - typos creeping into the text - perhaps there were some time pressures.!

I’m almost at a loss for words. The Winter Jacket Series is one of my favourite series of books. This book is a total bonus, I thought I’d never know more of their story. I can’t tell you how much I loved this book, hearing their story from Hunters viewpoint has been awesome. And wow, gulp, what an ending!!!!!

I loved reading this story from Hunter's perspective. Makes me want to re-read the series. Somehow Elle seems hotter when seeing it from another view. Great read.
