At first Effie was very self-centered and I didn't really care for her. However, after she learned to grow up just a bit thanks to her grandmother Helen, I was really rooting for her. Gretchen helped her through the process, too. All in all this was a really cute and easy read. Lots of humor but also a lot of thinking about life. Thank you to the author for another very good book.

I enjoyed the lessons acquired from the book and the personality of the grandmother. The immaturity of the main character was a lot for me to read through. It went on for at least half the book. I held on till the end, but only because of the lessons the grandmother shared. That intrigued my analytical mind. Definitely not a reread for me.

Effie was sent to take care of her old "bitter" gram Helen as a quasi punishment, until she figured out her life after dropping out of university. But while living wither gram, she unexpectedly runs into an old classmate, the cool girl Gretchen. And if Effie can stop drooling and fumbling over her, she maybe able to hangout with her. Because there is not way a girl like THE Gretchen would like her, is there?

I loved how relatable the main character, Effie, and yet wasn't as she was sarcastic to a fault, hard headed and fell hard in love. Ultimately Effie learns life isn't just about how you perceive people, but more or less you need to listen to them and get to actually know a person to understand them not just put them on a pedestal. And I think that's why I like Effie so much even if I didn't feel so much for Gretchen. The change and growth from Effie was great. Plus Effie and Helen were cute together especially when they butted heads, reminded me of my own grandma and me.

This was a good quick read about a girl that doesn't know what to do with her life, but her grandmother helps her figure it out. Has a bit of romance mixed it and some laughable moments. Give this a try. Thank you to the author.

I'm old enough to sometimes be irritated by teenagers but it was interesting seeing Effie evolve through this story. Had to remind myself of some mistakes I made in my youth. Maybe why I was rooting for the little bugger.
