SUSPIRIA - 2-Disc Blu-ray Special Edition

Suspiria _Jessica Harper

Dario Argento’s Masterpiece in a Spectacular 4K Restoration!

Jessica Harper (PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, PENNIES FROM HEAVEN) stars in this horrific tale of a young student who uncovers dark and horrific secrets within the walls of a famous German dance academy.

Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA comes to home video from Synapse Films in an exclusive new 4K restoration from the original uncut, uncensored 35mm Italian camera negative with the original 4.0 English surround sound mix, for the first time EVER! Painstakingly restored over the past three years, Synapse Films has created the ultimate special edition of this horror classic with the supervision and approval of the film's Director of Photography, Luciano Tovoli.

"Dario Argento's Suspiria is a cult horror masterpiece from one of the best-known names in the genre. The highly-stylized Italian film is ultimately an experiment with sound, lighting and setting where the suspense and fear arise more from working these three elements together than through the story alone. The Blu-ray edition courtesy of Synapse Films arrives with a phenomenally gorgeous high-def presentation that will simply astound and amaze the most loyal fans, and the brand-new lossless mix is also the best one could possibly imagine or have hoped for… the definitive version of the cult giallo classic and highly-recommended for devoted followers." - High-Def Digest

Review

Thunderstorms and extraordinarily grotesque murders pile up as Argento happily abandons plot mechanics to provide a bravura display of his technical skill. With his sharp eye for the bizarre and for vulgar over-decoration, it's always fascinating to watch; the thrills and spills are so classy and fast that the movie becomes in effect what horror movies seemed like when you were too young to get in to see them. Don't think, just panic. --Scott Meek, Time Out London

SUSPIRIA is not just AN Italian horror movie - it is THE Italian horror movie⁖ It is the greatest triumph of a very specific branch of filmmaking, and deserving of a reputation even more grandiose than the one it enjoys. This isn't just a good, unnatural horror movie, it is one of the great works of cinema. --Tim Brayton, Alternate Ending

Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA is easily one of the greatest horror movies ever made. It's one of the very few horror movies I can call perfect, and I rarely ever do that⁖ Dario Argento sneaks in such a simplistic premise under such a wonderful and masterful production that combines direction and a brilliant score for one hell of a nightmarish punch⁖ SUSPIRIA is a masterpiece that should be viewed by movie buffs, and film students alike. It' s an absolute standard of the genre. --Felix Vasquez, Cinema Crazed

and the result is nothing short of AMAZING. This is one of the best restorations for ...
Well, Synapse Films obviously knows the importance of this film, and the result is nothing short of AMAZING.This is one of the best restorations for a classic film I have ever seen.It looks like it could have been made yesterday.Suspiria has always been one of the most beautiful, colorful horror movies ever filmed and this new transfer perfectly showcases the vivid color palet laid down by Argento and the great cinematographer Luciano Tovoli. This transfer looks incredible.Colors pop right off the screen.Dark/shadowy scenes look crystal clear, no crush at all.Very smooth all throughout. The sound mix on this release is also nothing short of amazing.I have seen this movie countless times in various formats and I seen and heard things in there that I've never even noticed before. If you are a fan of Suspiria, this release shouldn't even be debated. This is a MUST OWN for fans.Even if you already have 3 different versions, then get a 4th.This is the definitive release to have.Unfortunately the Steelbook version was super limited and if you didn't get it for retail, the prices have already skyrocketed. But I will tell you this, it will be worth every penny you spend to get it.For those who just downright can't afford the Steelbook, this standard release is definitely a perfect alternative and also includes some amazing artwork on the cover.Includes both discs that came with the initial Steelbook, minus the third disc, which was the soundtrack. This is a HIGH, HIGH recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blu-Ray "Suspiria" (edizione Cult Films ) restauro 4k e lingua italiana , sottotitoli escludibili.
Reviewed in Italy on September 25, 2023
