Pro's:
- Great build quality, solid stand
- While I don't have the tools required to calibrate the monitor, the colors are great right out the box
- No backlight bleed at all, black/dark colors look stunning
- Great resolution, no real need for text scaling
- While not a true gaming monitor, I haven't noticed any issues in terms of ghosting or lag, and the ultrawide aspect makes FPS's so much better
Con's:
- Expensive, obviously
- Power/menu 'joystick' could be improved, and I'm not a fan of having to push it in, then down, then in again just to power the monitor off
- Colors seemed a bit washed out at first, and without a calibrating tool or much knowledge of the settings I couldn't get them to be perfect, but much improved and can't notice the issue anymore
Again, I don't use this monitor for any professional work, so I can't say if it would be good for that use. However, for normal everyday use and gaming I can't recommend it enough. The curve is very subtle when you're sitting in front and using the monitor, and it hasn't caused me any issues (I did not see this product or any other curved monitor in person before purchase, so I wasn't exactly sure how it would be). The screen space and resolution is great for having multiple windows open, improving productivity and not having an annoying (to me at least) bezel in the center as with a multiple monitor setup. Overall, I'm completely sold on the 21:9 aspect ratio and the curve, and despite the price, it's well worth it. If you are looking for this size monitor that is better for gaming, there are a couple new products coming out soon that I would advise you wait for.
I read a TON of the reviews and I want to clear a few things up
#1 This comes with a display port and HDMI. Use the display port. Some of the reviewers said you need to buy a separate display port cable. I'm not sure if they were implying one does not come with this or if they are saying the cable is bad. I ended up buying a separate cable though and there is no discernible difference between the two. So I wasted 10 bucks, thanks, REVIEWERS!
#2 "black crush" you will see in some of the reviews. I'm not getting this at a normal desk viewing angle. At a distance of 8 feet it's clear though. But honestly who is buying a monitor to view at long distance?
#3 Input lag/ghosting for gaming. I normally use a 24 inch 144hz"120hz lightboosted" tn panel for gaming. There is a slightly noticeable difference in some games, but for most games the Samsung is holding strong. Also I have yet to notice any ghosting. I'm actually considering just selling my old gaming monitor, but I don't think I can. Which brings me to the biggest con I've seen so far
#4 Text looking "weird" and color. I saw this a lot in the reviews. Out of the box the text was a little weird compared to the 34UC97-S. But after setting clear text and finding the right font/font size/boldness for me there is no difference in text. The LG does seem to have better color quality even after calibration, but not by enough that I will deal with ips glow/backlight bleed.
Cons -
*Resolution support. Some games have it, some have hacks. Unfortunately the game I play the most right now "Heroes of the storm" does NOT support this resolution. I did try to find a fix but so far have been unsuccessful. When playing Heroes at 2550:1440 full screen the game just looks stretched out and weird. This isn't about this monitor in particular, just the platform. I really wish developers would get it together and support 3440:1440. Because I think once people start getting their hands on these things, 4k will be a niche market. As long as there is support. Maybe LG/Acer/Samsung will hire some thugs to go "incentivize" game devs to step up their game ;)
*Stand can't move around much. No big deal for me but could be for others. Stand is also very solid and I like the aesthetics.
So that about wraps it up. I'm incredibly happy about this purchase. LG has software to manage your screen as far as resizing windows and such, I haven't found anything yet with Samsung so I'll have to keep looking because the windows default sucks.

If you are like me and only consider buying a monitor every 5 or 6 years, I definitely recommend this product even if it does run you over $1000. You should not be disappointed. Also, I would like to give props to onedealoutlet Canada for expediting this monitor to me. I am in a pretty remote place and they got me this product in 4 days!
