About the author
Roopa Pai is one of India’s best-known writers for children. This Bengaluru-based computer engineer-turned-author has written over 30 books, ranging from picture books to chapter books and fiction to non-fiction, on themes as varied as sci-fi fantasy, popular science, maths, history, economics, Indian philosophy, life skills, medicine and memoir. Many of her books are bestsellers and are enjoyed as much by adults as by children.
Her best-known children’s books include the 8-part Taranauts, India’s first fantasy-adventure series for children in English, the much-loved So You Want To Know About Economics, and the award-winning national bestseller The Gita For Children, listed by Amazon India as one of ‘100 Indian Books To Read In A Lifetime’. Her most recent books are The Yoga Sutras for Children and Miracles in Medicine.
Among her books for adults are Indian fitness evangelist and supermodel Milind Soman’s award-winning memoir, Made In India, and Cubbon Park: The Green Heart of Bengaluru, the first-ever history of her city’s iconic 19th century park. She also writes a popular fortnightly column on Bengaluru for the Hindustan Times.

The twentyfour badges to be earned cover so many topics, and it gives the reader the impression that the author really has thought of everything.
Personally the skill which I liked the most was about learning to cook Indian meals. This would be one of the most useful skills in teenager's lives today as many teenagers (including myself) require food when we are by ourselves. It makes us more independent and we can cook whatever we want to.
At the beginning of the book, the author also provides a section about the history/inspiration of the WoCoTeens which makes the book all the more interesting.
The style of the author gives the reader a feeling that they are involved in the book. The author has also put a lot of useful general knowledge information in the book which was really interesting during my read. Great book overall!!
