I loved Remind Me by Samantha Chase, the first book in the Magnolia Sound series. It is a lovely second chance romance. Who doesn't love a second chance at love. The prequel to the series, Sunkissed Days was free on Amazon and Remind Me was $0.99, so I decided to give the series a try. Besides Sunkissed Days, I had only read one other book by Samantha Chase and really enjoyed it. Remind Me, will definitely not be the last book that I read by Samantha Chase. I really enjoy how she writes her stories from the perspective of the main characters. Samantha Chase has proven to me that she is a master storyteller. Remind Me takes place four years after the end of Sunkissed Days. The story begins with Hurricane Ameilia quickly approaching landfall near Magnolia Sound, and Zeke Coleman adamant that he is not leaving his house. Jake Summerford boards up his home and decides to ride out the hurricane with Zeke in his home. During the night Zeke dies in his bed. It is up to Jake to inform Zeke's family that he has died and Jake discovers him when he assessing the damage to the house caused by the hurricane. Mallory Westbrook, had not returned to Magnolia Sound at all this year and has not seen Jake since they day they broke up. Mallory just received a promotion that she had been hoping for at work and will spend two weeks in Magnolia Sound to bury her great-grandfather and get things in order. Mallory is not sure how she will react when she she's Jake for the first time. Jake's parents have moved to Arizona, so he purchased their home. Jake and Mallory take their second chance at love even knowing that Mallory will return to her job in New York, once everything regarding her great-grandfather's estate is settled. Jake is left Coleman Construction and Mallory was left her favorite store in Magnolia Sound. Mallory will have someone run the business for her and return monthly to place orders, and handle other issues. Remind Me is filled with bittersweet and poignant moments. I love how Samantha always includes a little surprise. Mallory changes her mind and returns to Magnolia Sound. Remind Me was a wonderful second chance romance and I could not put it down. Looking forward to reading Sam and Shelby's story, A Girl Like You.

4.25stars--REMIND ME is the first full-length instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MAGNOLIA SOUND romance series focusing on the Westbrook family. This is thirty-year old, contractor and architectural designer Jake Summerford, and twenty-four year old IT specialist Mallory Westbrook. NOTE: For the backstory to Jake and Mallory’s story I recommend reading the series prequel SUNKISSED DAYS Told from dual third person perspectives (Jake and Mallory) REMIND ME picks up six years after the events of SUNKISSED DAYS where in Jake and Mallory’s summer romance implodes leaving a heart broken Mallory in its’ wake. Fast forward to present day wherein Mallory returns to Magnolia Sound to bury her beloved great-grandfather, a man who saw much more than anyone could have imagined. Rekindling their relationship, Mallory and Jake have yet to come to terms with what happened or why. The reading of the will sheds a spotlight on the past, present and future including the possibility of Mallory returning to Magnolia Sound-for good. The relationship between Jake and Mallory is one of second chances; a rekindling romance with the potential for something more but also the possibility of an expiry date as Mallory’s time in Magnolia Sound comes to a close. Mallory struggles with the memories of what was, and issues of trust as they pertain to the man she once loved: her immature attitude left something to be desire. Jake is willing to grovel to ensure Mallory knows she means everything and more. The $ex scenes are mostly implied. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including all of the members of the immediate and extended Westbrook family. The reading of Zeke Westbrook’s will let’s everyone know the old man’s plans for the future. REMIND ME is a story of family, friendships, life and death, second chances and falling in love. The premise is delightful and revealing; the characters are sassy and animated; the romance is passionate. REMIND ME is an encouraging and heart warming look as one family comes to terms with love and loss.

Jake and Mallory’s emotional love story continued in Remind Me, book one in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series. We met Mallory and Jake and their ill-fated romance in the prequel Sunkissed Days. Remind Me is a standalone story and all relevant information is provided. Mallory is living in New York consumed with work and a recent promotion when she learns her great-grandfather Zeke passes away. Given two weeks to get his affairs in order before returning to New York, the perfect plan until Mallory ends up reconnecting with Zeke’s next-door neighbor, Jake, her first love who broke her heart and set the bar for any other guy entering her life. Jake regretted the way things ended with Mallory but with her return, albeit short, maybe they can put the past hurts behind and start over again, even as friends. However, as the two spend time together both realize they want more than just being friends; a rekindling of the love they once had, now that they are both older and mature. Hopefully, this new love will refocus Mallory on what she truly wants in life and a future for them. Maybe New York isn’t really home for her. Maybe it’s actually Magnolia Sound and Jake. Ms. Chase wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Mallory and Jake the love and future together, that they always wanted. I highly recommend Remind Me to other readers and can't wait to read more about this family from Magnolia Sound and see what else is in store for us readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
