    Good for swim tracking
I have a Moov Now and a Move HR Sweat I got just for swimming. I am a middle age fitness swimmer with no competitive background. Here is my experience. The Moov Now was indeed DOA. I replaced the battery no problem. The battery lasted 5 months until I had to replace it again. There is a little plastic tool in the instruction manual to pry it open and you have to pay attention to the O ring when you snap it back together. I have not had an issue with the device falling out of the wristband but I’m not hard on it either. It comes with 2 bands, a thin one for your wrist and a thick one for your ankle. I don’t see why you could use the big one on your wrist if needed.I’ve found the statistics it gives me are excellent for my basic purposes. I think a few times it misses a lap but most of it seems pretty accurate. It doesn’t count kick sets since your arms aren’t moving (that time is marked as rest). Most useful to me are:Total laps.Laps per stroke type.Fastest 100.Time per lap (broken down into turn time and swim time)- each lap and average.Time per each continuous swim (ie- 500y without stopping).Rest times.Distance per stroke- average.Stroke rate (per cycle)- average.Strokes per lap (each lap and average).SWOLF (but as I understand this concept correctly it is supposed to be calculated number of strokes counting both arms plus time and the Moov counts only single arm “cycle” plus time, but it you’re only comparing to yourself I guess it doesn’t matter).I have seen myself improve on many of these metrics since I started using it which has really kept my motivation up.The heart rate monitor (separate purchase) is a little button I put under my swim cap. I’ve only had it fail to record once and I think I didn’t give it enough time to get a good signal before I set off. When I first got it I tested it against my resting pulse and it was spot on. I presume the similar technology to a medical pulse oximeter. As far as i can tell the data it provides during workouts is accurate. It provides an interactive graph of your heart rate during each lap and rest time. The reviews on the charging device are accurate, a PoS . It wouldn’t work at first but after wiggling the connection a bit it did. I don’t take the cord out now and move it carefully when I charge it. Crossing fingers it has been ok so far.It takes a while to sync the data to your phone after a work out. I leave it in my locker and shower during that time. This has no screen and does not offer real time data. The basic swim (and other workout) data (but not HR data) can be sent to Apple’s Health app (calories, distance, strikes, time). There is no way to download the data otherwise as far as I know.I also like the sleep tracking function, fwiw.I reached out to Moov once with a question through their site and once via Twitter and never heard back. It used to upload to Map My Fitness but no more. Pretty sure the company has given up on the product if they even still exist. Kinda bummed about that.If and when I move on to another device I think it will be an Apple Watch, but at 10x the price for a lot of other technology I don’t think I need, I think I’ll be sticking with the Moov for a while.

This tracker is great!!! I did a lot of research and even some product trial on my own dollar and this little tracker is everything it is marketed to be and more. I first bought a Garmin Vivoactive. It looked cool was a watch claimed to track swimming, running and golf, NO STRENGTH OR BODY WEIGHT TRAINING. I'm training hard every day for running, swimming, and crossfit style body weight workouts for a tough military selection program. I wanted something accurate, easy to use, durable, and obviously something that I could easily keep a tab on my progress. After having the Vivoactive for one day I hated it and sent it back to Amazon. I did a simple 1000yrd swim and it missed 225 yards of it. To me that a major issue, and I did not care to try it for running. If a device cannot excel at all areas of my training then it is no good for me.

I continued research and found the Moov, something I at first thought was too basic for my training needs. Well after doing hours of research on it and other products to all degrees of price I choose this one and I can say that I'm so happy with my decision. One reason I wanted to write this post was because of all the reviews I read on Amazon and other platforms that lead me to the Moov. Hopefully I can help someone else as well.

    Running-
I run everyday with a good mix of interval training and long distance training. The Moov is perfect for this aspect. It connects to your phone's GPS and is accurate. I tested it on a course I run a lot and I know the exact distances and it hit those distances perfectly. There are a lot of different workouts programmed into the Moov such as interval training, sprint intervals, and open training. The coach that I thought I would hate is actually awesome. It is helping to make me a better runner, fixing problems I never knew I had like impact. It gives welcomed notices for impact, steps per minute, and mile times when you get to them. the interval coach motivates you and holds you accountable to meeting your goals. Another plus is you can turn down the coach if you want less attention if your a more experienced athlete. The information after the workout is great and everything you would want. Split times, mile times, total distance, total time, calories burned, and a few more important things that are great for improving your running. So running passed my test.

    Swimming-
I tested the same length as I did with the Vivoactive, 1000yrds. It nailed the distance perfect. I showed all my lap times, my turn times, my total distance, total time, and even the stroke I was performing. It gave little tips to make me faster and more efficient in the water. It also gave total calories burned, average stroke rate, average stroke per length, and average DPS. I tested it again doing a interval workout and it did well. I picked up all my distances and noticed when I was on a break and when I was working. The only issue I had was it missed my kick drill, which it will not do because it does not have a drill setting. I wasn;t too worried about it missing those lengths because I really just want my intervals recorded because that is my actual work capacity, who really cares if it misses the warmup. Either way it did well on recording my pull lengths and I'm pleased with it performance. Furthermore, You have to initiate the swim workout before you enter the water from your phone and I was a bit worried that it would be giving off times, not true at all. Even thought the timer starts in the locker room, the real time doesnt start until you start swimming because Moov knows when you start stroking. It is a great tracker for swimming.

    Body workouts and strength-
I've tested these areas lightly because they are a smaller part of my training but Moov does well. It records your reps if you do there workouts which I found a little basic for my fitness level but good overall. If you pair it with a heart rate monitor it will be better for determining your calories and actual work but either way pretty good for just being a little device. I'll have to test it more on this area before I give it a better review in this area but like I said this is the smallest part of my training compared to my swimming and running.

    Overall-
I would suggest Moov to all types of athletes, beginner and elite. It is basic with no smart notifications which was a huge plus to me. If I'm working out I do not care if the president is calling me I just want to workout. It gives the data that you need and want for getting better and faster. The coach is a constant motivator and gives welcomed notifications. I mean who could really complain about becoming a better more efficient runner and swimmer? It looks cool so if you wear it all day, I do not because I just want data for my workouts, you can do so, and it looks like a cool balance band that people wear. I wore mine at work where I have to be business casual and I had no issues and was even commented for having a cool balance band. Its 60 bucks so it super affordable and gives data and reliability that is way above its price range. The company itself ask for feedback on the app and you can see from the first generation Moov to this one they listen to the customer wants. If you are serious about getting fit or serious about having great feedback this is the device for you easy to use and great reliability not to mention you dont have to charge it which is a huge bonus to me because I have enough stuff that needs a charge. I could keep telling you how great it is but I believe I covered the important parts that need to be said and coming from a guy who researched for hours on end if this review helps you make a decision then my time writing it was worth it.

    On a purely functional level:
Unless you enjoy doing a workout with a cellphone attached to your person at all times, this is not the tracker for you.

If you engage in a sport that requires hands, or where you can't have the phone with you, this is the wrong tracker for you. (You could set get out of range of your phone for up to 30 minutes before losing data, according to the support website, but I didn't verify that.)

Things that should be simple for a fitness device that can't work without a phone nearby were not. The required phone app for Android is bloated, and then further cluttered up with a bunch of images. It required scrolling multiple pages to search for something, and had a disturbing tendency to put you back to the top of the screen where you'd have to scroll, scroll, scroll some more to get back to where you were to continue scrolling.

Battery changes with this device are awful if you don't have thick fingernails that are exactly the right length. Mine are quite short, and it would have required letting them grow out for at least a week before the battery would be easier to change. As it was, I lost a couple pieces of thumbnail, and it took a really long time. Again, better documentation would have helped on the first battery change, where it seemed like I could be damaging the device rather than making progress to changing the battery. If you value your nails or keep them short, this is the wrong tracker for you.

The manufacturer admits that their Bluetooth does not work well with a lot of Android devices on the support website. (The actual word was something like "flaky.") I made sure mine was on a list that they support before purchase, and it STILL did not work.

The one support person I dealt with was polite, but also didn't bother to read the actual email either before reflexively telling me that it was rare for people to have difficulty getting a device to start up, then suggested that I change the battery (which I'd already done before contacting them). This was also for a common issue: difficulty getting a device to work the first few times you use it, so while I'm reluctant to beat up a support organization for a single failure, this was something that should have been simple, well documented, and have had a video or something like that to help if the support people had harder problems to solve. Instead, it was 36 hours of turnaround time, and telling the customer to return the device.

Had their support been at all good or the support website at all on point, I might have stuck it out and tried to get things working.

On the plus side, at least Amazon is terrific about returns!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great swim tracker, lots of data collected, small price tag. More stats and analysis than fitbit!

Bought for tracking my swims. Great as a lap counter. Very accurate stroke detection unless I switch strokes mid lap. Occasionally mis-tracks my stroke as butterfly (1 in 50-60 lengths) but this is likely due to issues with technique rather than the tracker itself. Large amount of statistics collected for very small price tag. Good app to back it up, has helped me improve my form. Syncs with Apple health. Does not sync with Fitbit app, but, it is easy enough to manually enter swim data if this is desired (as Fitbit does not support stroke metrics or any advanced swim data). Does connect with other tracking apps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great personal e-trainer

Given this a good test now.
    Positives:
    sleek and unobtrusive on wrist.
A good range of workouts across different sports
Feedback during workouts is Particularly good, although voice is a bit synthesised and does require headphones for some.
    Waterproof
    Battery life
    Negatives:
    Synthesised voice
Strap can pop open, clasp prevents falling off wrist though. Worse is the inner has popped out a few times. I don't think it floats so luckily I've not lost it during kayaking.
The accuracy of recording cycling is poor I've found.
    Summary
For the price i think this is an amazing piece of kit that can really improve the effectiveness of your training. IMO There is far more to like about this than dislike. If you want an activity tracker then this is not what you're looking for. If you want a personal e-coach that provides a good range of activities starting at the very basic beginner level all the way to a thorough beasting then this is a good option. As well as guided training sessions there are also open tracking. 9/10

Pretty damn awesome. It drives you to work out more and try to collect up more active minutes! Also, its simple existence on your wrist 24/7 pushes you to remember the pain you feel during workouts and encourages you to eat better. Swum with it, slept, ate, worked, worked out...this excels on all fronts. Sure, you do get a little annoyed at its minimal app ecosystem, but it doesn't seem like too big of a problem for beginners. It's EXTREMELY comfortable, and i've totally forgotten that it's sitting on my wrist even right now. It almost never gets confused or lets you cheat during your workouts, so if you're someone like me who's starting to get into the fitness zone today, it's the best activity tracker out there, possibly including the HR ones. I mean, I can barely do a pushup, I don't need HR monitoring right now! And those rejecting this because of it's lack of a pedometer, think of it this way: STEPS DON'T MATTER. Unless walking or running is the only form of physical exercise on earth, active minutes are the way to go!
An amazing product overall, and when you try out the cardio boxing, boy do you work up a sweat. Phew!
