    From the manufacturer

    1

    SIMPLE WHEEL CHANGING SYSTEM

The TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition features a quick and easy wheel changing system, allowing users to enjoy racing using different Thrustmaster wheels.

The ecosystem of Thrustmaster add-on wheels, composed of wheels sold separately without a base or pedals, offers TX users a wide selection of products specially designed for different motorsport styles: from GT circuit racing to rally racing on rough terrain, all options are open to Thrustmaster racers.

Simply rotate the locking system on the base of the TX to remove the current wheel, in order to attach a new wheel to the base.

The quick release system for the wheel only requires the use of a Phillips screwdriver, for excellent long-term gaming stability.

    3

    FAST, POWERFUL BRUSHLESS SERVOMOTOR

The racing wheel features a brushless servomotor with nearly 25 watts of power, for fast and precise performance and impeccable control on any racing terrain.

Realistic, accurate transmission of the different elements of each race directly to the user’s hands makes this motor a must-have. Contrary to a simple brushed motor, the brushless motor technology built into the TX series racing wheels also allows for an extremely quiet racing experience.

The brushless motor’s endurance allows the racing wheel to maintain constant intensity and power in terms of Force Feedback, avoiding a loss of sensations even during very long gaming sessions.

As opposed to brushed motors, this brushless motor technology provides stability and dynamic performance for the driver right through to the end of every race.

    2

    DUAL-BELT SYSTEM

All products in the TX series feature a dual-belt system which reduces disruptive noises and allows for smoother movements, for a more supple and flexible driving experience.

The dual-belt mechanism allows for smoothing out of the different data elements received from the race course or circuit.

Thanks to its direct link to the brushless motor, the system removes the possible presence of any dead zones and decreases uncomfortable jolting, without detracting from the power with which effects are transmitted to the user, for optimal realism in all racing environments.

Also designed for and built into Thrustmaster’sflagship racing wheel series (T-GT and TS-XW, sold separately), this system represents a significant technological evolution in terms of performance, for races where the details can make all the difference.

    2

    PROPRIETARY MAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY

The TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition features Thrustmaster’s proprietary magnetic technology, for optimal wheel precision that won’t decrease over time: enjoy reliability that’s recognized as a gold standard by virtual racers worldwide.

Thrustmaster’s patented contactless H.E.A.R.T (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) system, without any potentiometers, allows for an unlimited product lifespan and optimal precision throughout gaming sessions: up to 16-bit resolution, with 65,536 values.

An excellent investment for all gamers looking to get started racing, keep up their skills or significantly improve their racing performance, this proprietary technology also spearheads a variety of Thrustmaster’shigh-end products — including the T-LCM Pedals pedal set, and its flagshipT-GT and TS-XW series racing wheels (all sold separately).

Good force feedback, and a meaningful step above entry-level wheels. I still have some concerns.

Good force feedback, and a meaningful step above entry-level wheels. I still have some concerns.
I don't have a lot of experience with sim racing but I've used a few simulator cockpits using various levels of equipment from entry-level to higher-end. Don't take my opinion as expert, but at least take it as informed.I wanted to get myself a decent sim racing setup at home and after doing a lot of research, decided that this was the best option currently on the market for a price I was willing to pay. I say currently, because Fanatec will soon be launching a direct drive wheelbase at a price point fairly competitive with Thrustmaster's belt-driven lineup of wheels. If you're willing to wait, you could pre-order a Fanatec CSL DD right now. That said, I don't want to wait months, and so for $500 I bought this Thrustmaster TX RW Leather Edition which includes base, leather-wrapped wheel, and T3PA pedals. In terms of overall value, this is likely the best deal you're going to find currently or for the foreseeable future.Force feedback is good. It's belt-driven and you can hear a bit of that, but it's not like a car's steering is necessarily silent either. It's not a bother to me, may be a bother to you if you're extremely sensitive to outside noise. I have never felt the need to turn force feedback above 75% (the default FFB intensity) in any game I've played like Assetto Corsa and beamNG.drive. Some games like Forza Horizon 4 have weak feedback, but that game is also notoriously mediocre with wheels in general. As long as the game has good force feedback you should have a good experience, and the wheel will quickly rip from your hands during spin outs and drifting. If you're worried about intensity compared to higher end belt-driven and direct-drive models, I wouldn't be. This is more than enough for the average sim racer and a league above many entry-level wheels that can barely spin with any speed or intensity. You really can feel the road through the wheel as well.I would rate this wheel 5/5 for value with the caveat that cheap direct-drive wheels are coming to market soon and may offer better value. That said, there are two serious design/longevity concerns and one serious usability concern that I must address. The biggest concern I have is that the USB cable is not detachable or user replaceable. If you were to damage the USB cable or plug on this wheelbase you would need to either buy a replacement wheelbase or pay potentially hundreds of dollars to a professional to solder a new USB cable to the device internally (assuming you don't have the skills/equipment to do so at home which most people don't). It also forces you to buy a USB Type A to Type C adapter if needed or a USB A extension cable if needed, rather than just a new cable. This is absolutely unacceptable. The (seemingly proprietary) power cable is detachable and user replaceable, why not the USB cable? There is no reason for this other than poor design and greed. I believe that Thrustmaster is expecting some customers will damage their USB cables and expects those customers will be more likely to purchase another wheelbase rather than pay for repairs. I believe this is a profit motivated design flaw and I'm disgusted.Secondly, the pedals use a proprietary connector (also not easily replaced if damaged) by default. They can be converted to USB but you must buy an adapter to do so. Why? The proprietary connector is larger than a USB-C connector. I simply refuse to believe that Thrustmaster could not accomplish the same functionality using USB.My usability concern comes down to the button layout which seems to have been designed by a lunatic. Despite the fact that this wheel has Xbox buttons and is an Xbox compatible buttons, those buttons do not translate as such on a Windows 10 PC. Instead, you get buttons 1-13. This WOULD be fine, if said buttons followed a sequential order. They do not. Buttons 10 and 3 are right next to each other. Buttons 5 and 9 are right next to each other. 4 and 6 are next to each other. 7, 13, and 8 are operated using a switch/button combo. Why are none of these in sequential order? The truly ridiculous button mapping for this wheel turns memorizing and setting controls into a nightmare. You might not think it's that bad but I assure you, it's bad.Lastly, one final concern, there are only two mounting holes for mounting this wheel to a cockpit. This isn't necessarily bad, but my GTOmega ART cockpit doesn't support it out of the box (I've been using the included desk clamp until I decide if I want to drill holes or wait until potentially buying another wheel). If Thrustmaster could provide a few more potential fastening points without compromising the rigidity of the base, that would be a good thing.I like the wheel and am relatively happy with it but it's certainly not a 5 star product.
