From the manufacturer
SIMPLE WHEEL CHANGING SYSTEM
The TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition features a quick and easy wheel changing system, allowing users to enjoy racing using different Thrustmaster wheels.
The ecosystem of Thrustmaster add-on wheels, composed of wheels sold separately without a base or pedals, offers TX users a wide selection of products specially designed for different motorsport styles: from GT circuit racing to rally racing on rough terrain, all options are open to Thrustmaster racers.
Simply rotate the locking system on the base of the TX to remove the current wheel, in order to attach a new wheel to the base.
The quick release system for the wheel only requires the use of a Phillips screwdriver, for excellent long-term gaming stability.
FAST, POWERFUL BRUSHLESS SERVOMOTOR
The racing wheel features a brushless servomotor with nearly 25 watts of power, for fast and precise performance and impeccable control on any racing terrain.
Realistic, accurate transmission of the different elements of each race directly to the user’s hands makes this motor a must-have. Contrary to a simple brushed motor, the brushless motor technology built into the TX series racing wheels also allows for an extremely quiet racing experience.
The brushless motor’s endurance allows the racing wheel to maintain constant intensity and power in terms of Force Feedback, avoiding a loss of sensations even during very long gaming sessions.
As opposed to brushed motors, this brushless motor technology provides stability and dynamic performance for the driver right through to the end of every race.
DUAL-BELT SYSTEM
All products in the TX series feature a dual-belt system which reduces disruptive noises and allows for smoother movements, for a more supple and flexible driving experience.
The dual-belt mechanism allows for smoothing out of the different data elements received from the race course or circuit.
Thanks to its direct link to the brushless motor, the system removes the possible presence of any dead zones and decreases uncomfortable jolting, without detracting from the power with which effects are transmitted to the user, for optimal realism in all racing environments.
Also designed for and built into Thrustmaster’sflagship racing wheel series (T-GT and TS-XW, sold separately), this system represents a significant technological evolution in terms of performance, for races where the details can make all the difference.
PROPRIETARY MAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY
The TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition features Thrustmaster’s proprietary magnetic technology, for optimal wheel precision that won’t decrease over time: enjoy reliability that’s recognized as a gold standard by virtual racers worldwide.
Thrustmaster’s patented contactless H.E.A.R.T (HallEffect AccuRate Technology) system, without any potentiometers, allows for an unlimited product lifespan and optimal precision throughout gaming sessions: up to 16-bit resolution, with 65,536 values.
An excellent investment for all gamers looking to get started racing, keep up their skills or significantly improve their racing performance, this proprietary technology also spearheads a variety of Thrustmaster’shigh-end products — including the T-LCM Pedals pedal set, and its flagshipT-GT and TS-XW series racing wheels (all sold separately).

I do have to admid however that the stock configuration is not ideal. The standard wheel feels toy like. Too plastic. The pedals are not bad, if you don't miss the 3 pedal. And yes, mine broke too. I got a replacement back within a week free of charge. Those things happen.
My setup has the TH8A shifter, T3PA pedals, and the Ferrari GTE wheel. All toghether it comes to be a little on the expensive side, but you can minimize cost by looking around for deals. All things considered this setup ultimatelly comes up to be slightly lower, or at worst at the same price as the competition from what I've seen. Also if you are a racing fan, it is a small price to pay for the experience, as it is safer and way cheaper than real racing. :P
I have the F1 wheel too, but I haven't used much since I mostly do Horizon now a days. Hopefully when Forza 6 comes, I'll be hable to give it some hours.
For the seat frame, I opted to build my own. A couple of boards from a hardware store and some screws are cheaper than any decent setup I saw online. It may not look pretty, but then again I don't think a racing seat and some tubes look pretty in any living room either. I painted mine mat black, and when lights are off, all I see is the screen. Building it yourself, you can setup your sitting possition as you like, I went for something similar to an LMP/F1 seating possition. it is nice.
*** Make sure, whatever the base you use for it it is sturdy, not only strong, but also stiff. The forced feedback is really strong, really strong. It gives real feel and feedback, think about turning the wheels in a non powersteered car. If the frame is not sturdy it will deflect and you will loose some of the feel. You can dial down the feedback, but according to me, if you are paying that much for a setup you might as well get the most out of it. ***
To recap. Great wheel, great value (especially for XB1), considered what is on the market. If you can, save for the add-ons, they really turn it up to 11. Sturdy base needed.
If you have any questions let me know.
What I love most about these Thrustmaster products is the fact that they come with brackets included (both wheel base and shifter) so you can literally just strap it down to any desk. This was the main problem I had with Fanatec, these brackets (table mount and shifter mount) were sold individually and were not included! $50 for just the base mount! Factor in the actual cost of the base and you're paying $650, base alone. Another problem I had with Fanatec was the fact that they didn't offer a SINGLE bundle deal like you see with Thrustmaster. I remember, I emailed Fanatec asking if there was ANY savings for purchasing a base, wheel, pedals, shifter, and mounts and they said, nope, full price for everything PLUS shipping! Talk about money hungry.
So in the end I decided to save $500 and just go with this package. It is a much better deal, especially based off the fact that you can get everything (base, wheel, shifter, pedals, bracket mounts) for the price of JUST the Fanatec base. For the product itself, I am very happy. It worked flawlessly out of the box, had a little trouble getting it set up on my PC but thats my only gripe. The pedals feel fantastic, they were moving around on my carpet though, so I had to put two 25lb weights behind them. The wheel itself also feels amazing, however, I do wish it were a little bigger as my fingers hit the padal shifter when things get crazy.
Now for the base. The base is not very large and not very heavy despite what some people say. The wheel is fairly easy to connect and when connected, feels very sturdy. The force feedback is extremely strong and will definitely give you a run for your money. I've literally never had as much fun playing a racing game in my life and I've been playing for 10+ years. I have my force feedback set at 50% and it is more than enough, I also want to make it last and not strain the motor to its full capacity which is why I set it low. I really just want to make this last as long as possible.
All I can say is, if you're looking at buying a wheel set-up and on somewhat of a budget, this is your package. *This review is subject to change as I have only had it for a day but lets hope it stays this good!
