I had that feeling of "missing out" when it came to skimping on the IPS for the TN. Ended up ordering the IPS, and have to say, I feel the both the TN and IPS are pretty close to parity when it comes to picture quality. I don't notice any blur from the 1ms to 4ms change from TN to IPS, but I also don't notice better colors or picture from one to the next. Gonna stick with my TN panel and save the cash. Would recommend either monitor, but if you're worried that you're going to get lesser picture quality with the TN panel, don't: It looks phenomenal and I'm eyeballing them side by side.
One final caveat: The TN panel never gave me the weird vertical split issue. I had it as soon as I fired up the IPS panel. Essentially a small sliver of the center screen is cut out and requires a hard shutdown and restart of the monitor. Was never an issue with my TN.
1440p is gorgeous and has completely spoiled me for all future monitors I own, never going back to 1080p.
I don’t really ever notice G-Sync because I’m able to keep the frame rate above 120 nearly at all times. But I have verified it is working so no complaints there.
Color quality and contrast is what you would expect from a TN panel. It looked kind of washed out when I first powered it on but after some tweaking in the color menus I got it to look better. While playing games you never notice any contrast or color discrepancies, but when I was watching movies with dark scenes there were splotches of mismatched black colors. Again that’s not a defect of the screen, that’s just the limitation of backlit TN panels.
The stand is very nicely constructed and has some good weight to it. I’ve never been worried the monitor would tip over during any adjustments I made to the position of the screen. It is made from metal, probably steel judging from the weight but I haven’t bothered to actually look into it. The red parts of the feet have a rubber coating.
Really the only complaint I have with this monitor is the same complaint I have for most monitors. That is the material used for the screen. I really wish companies would use a piece of glass instead of that soft plastic product used in pretty much every non Apple monitor. It would allow the 1440p resolution to appear clearer and the screen would be easier to clean.
For reference my computer has a founders edition GTX 1080, an i5 8600k OC to 4.7 GHz, and 16 GB of 3200MHz RAM. I’m able to play Battlefield V on high settings (with anti aliasing/ post processing turned down because I’m running the game at 1440p) at around 125 FPS. Fortnite with everything on max quality (aside from anti aliasing) I get around 130. Destiny 2 with graphics set to high (except for anti aliasing) sits around 140.
The panel looks beautiful. Refresh rate and response are obviously great as expected from a TN panel. As others have said the anti glare coating makes the whites not pop quite as much but it still looks great.
Only complaint (and it is minor) the stand is deeper than I expected, as in length from back of stand to front of monitor. Other than that, no complaints or dead pixels or anything. Will update review as necessary

165fps 1440p GSYNC 1ms response time......
What more do you have to say at this price...
The color is decent for a TN panel after doing a full calibration but as always with TN the color is best straight on. Biggest negative about color is the matte finish which is quite visible on some colors but not bad enough to ruin editing or gaming experiences.
Performance is outstanding. I am running a super overclocked gtx1070 water/hybrid cooled with a 6700k, 16gb ram and Samsung 950ssd. I generally leave the monitor in 144hz normal mode to reduce heat very slightly. 165hz is only beneficial in games I can hit 140+fps.
Assassin's Creed Origins runs around 80fps on ultra settings and looks stellar as far as color, contrast, latency and 0 fragmenting or lost frames. My OLED tv has better color and contrast but feels less responsive in the moment.
While doing visual design work I do wish the monitor had some deeper blacks but overall after calibration most colors are accurate enough to compare to AMOLED device screens. IPS might be a good choice if you do major visual art, as the srgb mode doesn't feel accurate on this panel.
The best part about this beast is the physical chassis, it looks high quality and fits any gaming setups easily. Integrated USB 3.0 hub and cable management is very slick for my sit stand desk as I need all the cable management I can get. Tilting, rotating and raising/lowering the monitor can be done with one finger and has a fantastic range on all movements including 90° rotation while coding.
Super slim bezels blend right into my other 2 monitors and I personally like some kind of lip at the bottom.
I use the display port for my desktop and the hdmi when I need to use my laptop on the desk and having all cabling included was a gracious surprise!
Easily the best gaming monitor I've owned, 10/10
Respectable for editing but TN panel lacks true color, 8/10
Low latency for all daily tasks and makes browsing fun, 9/10

Edit: had to do a replacement. I got bad lightbleeding. Will redo review once the new one arrives.
Its been awhile but i wanted to make sure it was fine. It was working great for a few weeks and then it out of the blue, or should i say red... a pixel in the middle of the screen went red, and then it corrected itself for a few days and has since stayed red. So.. i dont recommend this monitor at all, stay away. 2 bad monitors in a row says enough about this one.
Upon the replacement arrival I opened the box and plugged the monitor right away to see if there's something wrong and to my surprise there was. The power light would turn on but the monitor stayed completely unresponsive with a black screen. By black screen I mean literally not turned on or displaying anything. No matter what I did, switching cables, switching outputs, nothing worked. I contacted Amazon again and I asked for a refund which they agreed to. Overall my experience with the Amazon Customer Service team was great, but this whole experience with the Acer Predator XB24YU monitor was terrible. I don't think I will ever buy an Acer product again. It's kind of sad because the actual stand for the monitor is really solid.
Before you think of buying this monitor, consider that I was not the only person that had 2 monitors go bad. There was a customer above who also had 2 monitors go bad but with different issues than mine. Overall, if you want to buy it, do so at your own risk. There are better monitors out there in my opinion.
