About us
At Belkin International, we create products that help people realize the power of technology and make people’s lives better, easier and more fulfilling. This has been Belkin’s mission since our inception in 1983.
Belkin was founded by CEO, Chet Pipkin, in his parent’s garage. Even back then, Chet’s passion was driven by solving customer’s needs. He manufactured computer cable assemblies in the evenings and on weekends, and sold them to local computer manufacturers and dealers in response to the burgeoning personal computer market in the 1980’s. Since then, we’ve kept our southern California origins and are based in Playa Vista, right in the heart of the Los Angeles tech center.

The Belkin WaveRest Gel-Filled Cushion Rest Pad gives your wrists plenty of ergonomic support through a wave design that permits natural hand and wrist movements. The gel cushion creates contours that fit to the curves of your wrists and provides support as well. Because it isn't attached to a mouse pad, you can move it wherever you'd like on your desk and use it for other purposes too. The lightweight, durable design stands up to years of use.

I have replaced this mouse pad I think about 4x over the years. I probably get 3 years or so out of it each time before I retire it for a new one. It's not that it completely wears out or anything, but the wrist part can have an odor after all those hours of your wrist resting there and there's only so much you can do with cleaning it. Plus after that amount of years, it does look more worn-in. For the price, 3-4 years is quite a while and dirt cheap for better comfort if you like a wrist rest. It's a nice shape design too in both style and also in how it fits in-between things versus if it was a full rectangle design.
As long as they don't stop producing this mouse pad, I'll keep buying it when I need a replacement!
I don't know about the review of May 9 here at Amazon.com that boldly states that "Belkin cheapened the product, changed it in fact" etc etc, blatantly speaking to the quality and condition of the product the reviewer purchased at that time...in fact I will dispute that claim 100% right here and now because the products that I bought this week from Amazon.com are IDENTICAL to the product that I bought 2+ years ago, they have not cheapened anything at all, in fact I would say the OPPOSITE of that reviewer, as it is my contention that Belkin is making the product better than it ever has been made up to this time, perhaps even improving its construction and feature set since 2007 when I bought my 1st one.
I just don't understand how/why people blatantly, boldly write things like that which are categorically FALSE and MISLEADING to the buying public, the market here at Amazon.com which is worldwide, huge, with readers from all walks of life throughout the world...in fact it sort of shocks and saddens me when I have to contend that what somebody wrote is NOT THE TRUTH AT ALL about a product, and I am in fact doing that right here and now! Do NOT BELIEVE that review, not a word of it! This fantastic gel mouse pad from Belkin is a wonderful, perfectly constructed, made product that remains the sole product of its type that one can purchase for LESS THAN $10 here (retail being $15 or so) at Amazon.com, and I wholeheartedly give it Wavey Davey's 5-Star Vote of Confidence Award, so do not be afraid of it in the least! You can buy it here knowing full well and good that the product is incredibly well made, will last many years even in severe and constant service/use, and I am writing this right now to tell anybody in the market for such an item that THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY!
I don't know where or what shape my wrist would be in without having mine in my studio to support it properly, but it surely would be in worse shape than it is right now! This thing works, and works 100% to the good for your wrist and hand's health and longevity, and it's quite simply the best thing that is available for wrist/hand support when you are toiling long, and hard at computing for pleasure or work, whatever, you know? It just works, and works WELL! FANTASTC in fact! Do not believe any claims to the contrary about how it's being made and constructed because this is the one that you should be getting if you are concerned about something lasting a long time and providing long-term use without any issues at all: this is IT folks, so believe me when I write this little review that you don't have to worry about it in the least, it's a solidly made product, with lasting attributes that will work just as good next year, and the year after, perhaps, no matter how many hours a day you use it!
There, I've written what I wanted to write about it, so there's no use in making this longer or more candid than I have this time around, you just take it from Wavey Davey, your faithful Amazon.com reviewer of this great gel mouse pad, that things are on the up and up with it, it's the best thing you could possibly do for your wrist and hand, so go ahead and punch the button, hit the spot, and order it because you will NOT be disappointed, not in the least!!
Wavey Davey - December 12, 2009
1) The size is more than adequate for me, I am able to go across a 22" monitor in one motion (although this will depend mostly on your mouse sensitivity).
2) The material on the top is soft and feels like a foam neoprene laptop case. Some people have complained about the friction and noise of sliding the mouse: there is SOME noise, but not more than any other mouse pad. The friction of the neoprene is higher than a desk or a hard plastic mouse pad, but I personally think it gives me more control of my mouse. Not an issue at all in my opinion, the difference is noticeable at best.
3) I haven't owned this for long, but I could foresee something scratching it (like a watch or a pen) and making the threads come up. Also, the whole thing is flexible and foam, so you don't risk cracking any plastic components if you shove it into a laptop bag. The foam bottom keeps it from sliding quite well, although I don't think that would be an issue for any wrist pad. It may pick up a little dust, but any gripping surface will do that.
4) The design is what sets this mouse pad apart. The sort of trapezoidal shape of the top part allows you to have a greater range of motion, especially compared to a round mouse pad like the Fellowes Gel Mousepad. (If you look at your hands while you use your mouse, when you go back and forth, you don't use the part closest to your wrist, the greatest range of motion is at your fingertips).
The actual wrist support is excellent as well. Belkin, either by luck or a stroke of brilliance, designed the wrist support to have an indent in the middle. The reason this is significant is because it now creates two support points for your wrist. This is superior again, to the Fellowes Gel pad (not bashing it or anything, it is just the best comparison I can give) because the gel pad is just a giant bubble, creating one pressure point on your wrist that can reduce circulation and comfort. The slight indent allows the pressure to be distributed to the bottom of your palm and an inch or two above the wrist, rather than right on the joint of your hand and arm. This may seem trivial, but if you have ever had issues with circulation while using wrist/mouse pads like I have, this one does the trick because it allows better circulation.
5) On an even more obscure note, since this mouse pad is neoprene and not smooth plastic like the Fellowes, it breathes better and therefore reduces sweating. Hopefully this point helps someone with sweaty palms or works in a warm environment :D
Overall this is the best mouse pad I could have chosen. Do keep in mind that if you use an optical mouse (if your mouse emits a red light at the bottom), there could be tracking issues and your cursor may jump around because this mouse pad is black and absorbs light differently than a wooden desk would. However, this largely depends on the quality and age of your mouse. My laser mouse has had no issues at all.
