I was a TV broadcast technician for 28 years and have spent my last five in the healthcare industry. I've used many wireless systems from Lectrosonics, Sony, Sennheiser, Rode, Azden, and Audio-Technica and this AVX system delivers pro-quality audio in a simple, compact package.
I was skeptical at first, but the range and clarity is incredible. My previous Sennheiser system was solid, but required a cable for the receiver to plug in to the XLR input and the antennas were frail and eventually lost their flexible coating. If you're using a compact pro video camera, that means with other systems you need a cold shoe mount and a double bracket if you need more than one microphone--that makes the camera more unwieldy. Not with this system. The receiver plugs directly in to the XLR port, and on those days when I need to run three mics into a mixer, the receivers fit neatly without a hassle. These have a solid build quality, too. The bodypack transmitter is metal, not plastic, and the receiver is mostly metal as well.
With this system I recommend sticking with the Sennheiser microphones--spend a little extra and get the MKE2. I tried to use an off-brand microphone as a backup and it did not provide good shielding from interference, so it picked up humming and sometimes crackling. I've never had that from ANY Sennheiser lavaliere microphone.
This system is worth every penny, especially if you're working solo.
-- I added the hand held mic as an add on -- makes for passing the mic or man on the street interviews seamless
Audio Quality is DIGITAL perfection with a realistic range of about 200 feet in urban environments. Outdoors in open areas you could expect more.
Mic Quality: This is a professional lavalier mic, with nice background suppression of noise, and the diminutive size allows hiding this easy on the talent. diminutive.
Battery Life: Rvcr is at least 3 hours, the xmiter about 8 (both have USB charging ports) Recommed a spare set of batteries on the road.
With these being rather small and having high quality - makes a very good interface for your DSLR video productions (comes with an XLR to mini interface)
I have some additional comments and photos on the truetoad site -

How it all began...
I have decided to create and online course about Depression & Anxiety and therefore needed a microphone which could record crisp professional sound without problems. I did have one lavaliere microphone (Pulsen CAM 2W -$150) and it produced okay sound...however when i was testing it, there was a lots of white noise/hissing sound appearing my audio. This was because other frequencies were interfering with the signal since it is a VHF type of a microphone. This bothered me a lot...and so the search began for a better microphone.
I started watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading blogs online to find the best microphones for video production and decided to try a few of them.
First one: I bought Rode NTG2 Shotgun microphone ($280) because of the awesome reviews that people gave it. I quickly discovers that it was harder to adjust then i originally thought. I tried connecting XLR to MP3 directly using some adapters and that did work....however....the white noise was still there (you need impedance matching XLR adapter to remove the noise). Even when i lowered the sound level manually on my camcorder...the white noise still was there.
Well.....i thought may be i need to get a microphone that already comes with the MP3 wire connection like the Rode Video MicPro.
Second: Rode Video Mic Pro ($250)
Well, i bought this mic to see how it will work as many YouTubers raved about it. I put it in...and it produced a good sound.....but....the white noise/hissing sound was still there. I recorded with the -10 db and 0 db and +20db, as well as adjusted my camcorder settings. However....the white noise improved a bit...but it was still there and the mic picked up more general background noise then i wanted it to. I again came to conclusion that it would not work.
Frustration kicked in.....and i began looking at more microphones....and this time i wanted to try a WIRED cheap lavaliere mic in comparison to the two previous mics.
Third one: Dual Lavalier Microphones-MAONO AU200
This microphone was cheap it only costs about $45 and it has two microphones and a super long wire (20 feet). I thought it would not produce good sound.....BUT to my surprise it actually sounded better then NTG2 and Video Mic Pro combined. I was like....really? It is made out of cheap plastic and wire gets in the way...but the sound was good. I came to conclusion that it would not work too as i needed the ability to move around freely with microphone staying attached to me securely.
Based on the information i found trough trial and error, i came up with these characteristics that my microphone must have:
1. Be a Livelier mic
2. Good battery life
3. High quality sound - without post adjustment
4. Super easy to setup for a camcorder/dslr
5. Good quality construction - metal body, high quality overall parts
6. Small overall size - highly portable
7. High quality XLR adapter with matching Impedance - (this is very important as hissing sound comes from cheap adapters that do not have this)
Then...i asked my self this question:
Is there a microphone regardless of price on the market that i have heard of that can fit this criteria?
Answer: Yes, it is called Sennheiser AVX.
Well, from then on i went and i watched YouTube videos about Sennheiser AVX and found out that it was a really good mic and many professionals used it. The only thing i had to do, is decided if i wanted the ME-2 or MKE2 microphone. After more research i found that the MKE2 microphone was more powerful, and had cleaner audio and smaller form size. But...it was more expensive. Then i had to make a choice.....and after 1 sleepless night i have picked MKE2 and ordered Sennheiser AVX from Amazon.
It came in the mail fast, i opened it up .... charged it and tried it and it was ....
A W E S O M E - A W E S O M E - A W E S O M E !
To make it short for you....
Save your time, stop looking at other mics .... just buy AVX MKE2 and it will save your life!

The only thing that I think could be be better is the lav microphone. If you change it for a better quality microphone you will see the difference but in the end it still a good quality product. The pouch included in the package could possibly be a little better than this. It looks like they took the pouch that was designed for the handheld microphone which is not the best but in the end, this is a minor issue.
This product is covered by a warranty as long as you buy it from a Canadian retailer. I bought mine from Amazon in Canada directly to ensure I have a valid warranty but I could've bought it from Camera Canada (Ontario) but it was just more expensive than Amazon.
I will definitely buy more of these in the future!
