As far as the build of the Key2 phone, -- it is solid and responsive. The fingerprint reader works well and the interface is easy enough to change to your liking. It is a bit longer than I would normally want - but with a good case it is easy to hold and operate. This case is perfect btw, --- https://www.amazon.com/StilGut-BlackBerry-Case-Genuine-Leather/dp/B07JGZ2DBF/ref=sr_1_26?crid=1L9CQ87B63YM2&keywords=blackberry+key2+case&qid=1557674847&s=gateway&sprefix=Blackberry%2Caps%2C217&sr=8-26
I'm not happy with the Android platform that it is on. Although strongly protected by many of the abilities of a Blackberry. It is simply not as smooth and sophisticated as a true Blackberry device.
I realize that Android plays to a whole 'nuther mind set about smart phones. (think of the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10 -- playing to a completely different consumer) There are too many apps that are silly and unnecessary for what I consider to be the typical Blackberry user's needs. Also, quite importantly, - As it is on a Android/Google OS -- Google now has it's tenticals in everything you do on the phone. Google takes control over your photos, your calendar and contacts. You can change some of these permissions, but not all.
As a result, what used to be so seamless on a Blackberry, is now clunky, as far as I'm concerned.
I will continue to use it -- as, frankly I have no choice if I want to keep some kind of Blackberry, . . . but I find it disappointing as to the dumbed down OS.
As a smart phone device, it is well built and does have a amazing battery life. The sound quality for calls is very good and the speaker is adequate for listening to audio or video. It does have a headset jack port. It is meant to be more of phone for enterprise level use with Blackberry security rather than just a consumer device for entertainment. But it does play Audio and Video quite well. The Screen can be very bright (if that is your choosing) and it is very responsive. The keyboard is great.
All in all - if you are a true Crackberry fan, you will find this is model is better to try than to have to switch completely over to an stand alone Android or iOS phone. IMHO
I did have some issues getting the phone set up. When I received the phone it was well packed but I was surprised to find an international power adapter in the package. I opened the factory sealed box and used my existing BlackBerry charger to charge the phone. (I didn't realize that the included charger - in international version - had a pull out "earth" pin. Once I sorted that out the included charger works well).
Much surprise came when the screen displayed everything in Chinese!!! I poked around the various screens hoping to find the screen that would let me change to language. No luck. I did find information on line but all of the videos were presented on phones that were already set for English. The seller was not much help getting me set up. They told me that "other people received these phones and had no problem figuring it out". After several emails I was provided a link to a YouTube video (that I had already seen). They said to just touch the places on the screen and I should be able to get to the right screen. I did eventually get to the right screen and set the phone for U.S. English. I then did a Factory Reset and when the phone booted I was presented with a screen that allowed me to select the language. I expected that this screen would be what I first saw on initial power up. Apparently the Chinese load some of their apps on the phone and that is why the language is set to Chinese. The Factory Reset get rid of all of that stuff - whatever it was.
I inserted the SIM card and my SD card in the phone and I was up and running. It took a few days to get all of my contacts and calendar updated and other options configured. BlackBerry has a nice app for Content Transfer built into the Key 2 and all I needed to do was download the Content Transfer app onto the Classic and in no time all of my information was transferred,
I wanted to use different ringtones than what were provided and in order to do so I needed to download a file manager. (Found that out from reading the User Guide). Did that and all as well. The access to my music library on the SD card is not as easy to access as it was on the Classic but I have it figured out. Also, this phone has a built-in FM radio which works very well.
I'll save the best for last. The phone is FAST!!! The browser loads very fast and displays all of the content I need to see. The design of the phone is beautiful. Everyone who has seen it remarks on the great styling and they LOVE the fact that it has a real keyboard. Battery life is great and I charge it about every two or three days. It may take some time to get used to the Android operating system but once you do you will like it. The learning curve is not that steep.

I am getting to know the phone so far, it is very user friendly and the keyboard is very smart. I like the BB securities that comes with phone such as, Privacy Shade, Vault for your CC & passwords and much more. Camera quality is amazing and i like the video stabilizing option, in case you shoot a video while driving and your hands shakes a lot. The 4.5” screen size is okay, of course cannot compete with Apple, and resolution and picture quality is great.
Overall i give BB KEY2 an A. Battery last for a day and half and my phone is loaded with apps that run in the background. To be fair I have to use the phone for a year and then i can rate it again. New electronics always work great when they are new and out of the box.
