Had a two-day drive cross-country. Our seven-year-old chihuahua mix has never traveled before, so we were worried about keeping her comfortable and making sure she did not run off on us.
She measures L20" x W10" x H14" and weighs about 10 lbs., so we purchased this carrier in large because of its roomy dimensions. She had no issues being able to stand up, sit, lay down, or turn around inside the carrier. In fact, she preferred to stay inside for much of the drive because it made her feel safe, but it also has a myriad of pockets one can unzip if your pet wants to stick their head out to look out the windows.
I'm going to be real here: a lot of motels do not allow pets, but we cannot just leave them alone at night in freezing temperatures. If you need a subtle carrier to sneak your pet in, this one is perfect. The nylon fabric and construction makes it look like a gym bag, and you have the option of using the double top handles or an included crossbody strap to carry it. I would not consider it very heavy.
We also spent a few days training her to use it as a bed and to be comfortable inside it. The bottom has a fairly sturdy shearling pad at the bottom that is removable. It did not bend or buckle under our dog's weight, though heavier dogs ( more than 10 lbs. ) may see it flex.
The carrier also has a slit pocket on the side to store the crossbody strap as well as their leash. The openings can be secured with a buckle, which makes it really useful for if you need to leave your pet in the car temporarily to go use the gas station restroom without worrying about them jumping out of the car.
It is not the most sturdy pet carrier out there, but it's as much as we needed during this long trip and a really good value for about $20. Our travel would have been significantly more stressful for us and her without it. She has a proper bed now, but sometimes she'll still crawl inside the carrier and lie down!

Update 11•2•19 Im really happy to have the red carrier but nods of appreciation for the first order& my next order.They've (my boys) have been out several times in the one carrier however now Im ready for another carrier because they're going for their sensitive procedure at the vet & I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra space.I'm so appreciative of their needs& desires. Who'd have guessed? I've really loved every cat I've owned or fostered; could be my maturation, appreciation for the full circle of life? Idk? But I certainly buy these guys more expensive trinklets-- their cat condo's and cat trees. The special care taken when buying anything for them. It's been a few days looking for new carrier & Ive happily decided to return to Paws & Pals for my newest item. Thanks to a company team spirit, that seems to care as much as I do for my boys.My original review on the first one [the large Red) wasn't as enthusiaric as it could have been.But, yep Im happy with the collapsible soft stlye for their comfort. The bright vibrant colors [I did think that the red did deserve a bit more brilliance]. The soft sherpa type) bedding is placed in the bottom squarely between the soft collapsible sides (even though the "bedding" attached with velcro does rise up when walkn with one carrier geesh I wonder how it's going to be carrying 2 carriers for the short walk to the vet. Yet, causing the boys to become fidgety & irritable. Making the bedding continue to rise up until its possuable that it could flip over. I'm ordinarily walkn with the carrier as oppose to riding to the vet. Which is a quick 3-5 minutes walkn distance from a relative's home.Her little boy love the kittens even though at 5 months as opposed to the five weeks old kitten--have grown in leaps & bounds, personality, attitude, creativity and SIZE (WOW!) Yes, they deserve their separate carriers as originally planned!🐈🐈🎁
