are making compromises. In the case of this lens, it is a bit big/heavy for a small camera
like my Canon M50. However, optically and mechanically it is very good to excellent. The zoom ring
turns smoothly and relatively easily. The pictures I take with it are sharp, even at 200mm. I would have
liked a bit wider angle at the low end of the zoom (e.g., 15mm), but I do carry a small wide angle zoom (11-22mm)
with me most of the time in case I need it. Very satisfied with my purchase of this lens.
So while I've said this is the best option for a very wide zoom range EF-M lens, there are some drawbacks that you might notice in use. First of all, the zoom ring turns the opposite you're used to from other (Canon brand) lenses. If this is your primary lens and you don't switch to others often, that's a non-issue. The lens has a zoom lock switch which it apparently really needs because if you don't use it, the lens zooms out pretty easily on its own which can be annoying. The auto-focus tended to hunt a little bit more on this lens than on my Canon branded lenses, which led to me missing shots every so often. This in turn, led me to use manual focus often which leads me to my final issue. The manual focus ring can be slow. It sometimes takes a lot of turning to get from one end to the other. With that said, I did use manual focus a lot to have the focus ready for sudden things like when we went whale-watching.
Overall, you quickly get used to the ergonomics and switch use on the lens and you get pretty quick with its use. Given the current options, I would absolutely buy this lens again for its versatility and general quality.
Lot’s of potential, but ultimately not for me.

I tried to contact Tamron Singapore for advice stating all necessary info including serial number but clearly Tamron Singapore CS must be very busy as they didn't manage to come back to me for a few days already.
I am returning the lens.
