About this ebook

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

I started reading the book with a bit of bias because it started like every other romance book I know, but I couldn't stop reading. I loved how both Summer and Fitz were a great pair for each other, in the sense that they challenged each other and grew out of their comfort zone. I hate how Hunter got the bitter end of the stick and that they never really made up and I would've loved for them to be friends because he was a great gent. All in all the book was amazing, I would recommend!

I adored Elle Kennedy’s THE CHASE. It is the first book in the Briar U series and the perfect spin-off from the Off-Campus series. The main characters are Briar hockey forward Colin Fitzgerald (Fitzy) and Summer Di Laurentis, the younger sister of Dean Di Laurentis from THE SCORE, book three of the Off-Campus series. I love Fitzy and Summer. They are very different, yet they end up having a lot in common. My heart went out to both characters for the things they endured. Summer struggles with her classes because she has a learning disability. Colin’s parents went through a brutal divorce using him to get back at each other. Fitzy hates drama, and drama seems to follow Summer wherever she goes. Fitzy is an introvert. Summer is an extrovert. Summer is rich, Fitzy not so much. The two don’t even resemble the others typical “type." However, as time goes on they discover their similarities and cannot deny their attraction to each other. Elle Kennedy does an amazing job with the plot. The story is skillfully written and hard to put down. This story demonstrates numerous examples of people judging others before they get to know them. I appreciated the scenes with both Summer and Colin with their majors/future careers. Summer is studying fashion design. Colin is double majoring in Fine arts and computer programming, wanting to develop video games. They both show integrity and strength. They help each other grow by balancing one another. THE CHASE has a great ending. I love the characters and would love to hear more about them in future books. I love Brenna Jensen and look forward to reading her story next in book two, THE RISK, expected to be released February 18, 2019. I’ll be counting the days. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I know The Chase is one of the most anticipated reads this year for many people and let me tell you, Elle Kennedy did not disappoint! I loved Summer and Fitzy's story! It had all the things I love about the original Off Campus series - laughs, swoons, heart, emotion, and of course, sexy, sexy times! Briar U is a spin off series and though characters from the Off Campus series do appear, it can be read as a standalone. Right from the start, I got some Pride & Prejudice vibes from Summer and Fitzy. There's no denying their attraction to each other, but will her pride and his prejudice stand in the way of their happily ever after? There were definitely times when both characters frustrated me with the push and pull, but as their histories are shared, it made a lot of sense why they were reacting and making the decisions that they were. On the surface, they couldn't be more different, but they also challenge and complement each other in many ways. Fitzy and Summer were much more than people perceived them to be and though it was very yin and yang at times, it definitely worked! I loved all the build up and anticipation (though the collateral damage of Hunter did hurt), and I was left with a huge smile on my face as I turned the last page. One of my favorite things about this book though was Summer's friendship with Brenna. Those two were hilariously loyal and just so much fun! Summer and Brenna's lack of filters created some truly memorable moments and I especially loved their text messages to each other. I can't wait for Brenna's story in The Risk and that teaser excerpt at the end of the book couldn't have been more intriguing! I also was so happy to see little cameos by some of my favorite Briar guys and gals! I honestly will never tire of more Garrett or Tucker (swoon, swoon, swoon) and the little snippets of them in The Chase were perfect! Such an awesome start to this new series!
