New beginnings are irresistible…

Christian Montgomery is burnt out. The family business is his entire world, and Christian has never stopped trying to atone for a mistake made years ago. His only break from grueling work is sitting on his beachfront deck, watching the California surfers, and wishing he could be that carefree.

Sophie Bennington was happy living in her small Kansas hometown…until she learned her entire life was a lie. So she hightailed it to the West coast, where she loves to surf, even though she’s no good at it, and she’s hoping to start a new career.

A chance encounter shows Christian and Sophie that no matter what happened in the past, the future is bright and new…but only if you have the courage to open your heart…

(EN) Sophie Bennington moved to San Diego to get away from all the lies. Behind, she only left her grandmother since she lost both her parents on an early age. Now she just needs to get a job because being an amateur surfer is not going to pay her bills.
Christian Montgomery has made his job his number one priority in life. And that is now taking a toll on him. He needs to relax but he really doesn’t know how to but inviting a red-head surfer on a date seems like a good start.

3.5 stars

I'm not really sure what's wrong with this book that I can't give it more than 3.5 stars. The characters are fine but maybe that is the problem. They're just OK. They're a little bland that I can predict what they will do and won't do. They never surprised me. Christian is this alcoholic son who's trying to prove himself and it was obvious it'll be a problem not only to his health but to his relationship with Sophie. Sophie with her baggage and wanting to start anew was a cliche concept and it's even more cliche that she fell in love with her boss. Also the family dramas in this book is too much almost shadowing the romance.

Though I must admit the characters had gone through an amazing growth throughout the story and I liked that. Overall this is an OK read but I was hoping for more. And I almost forgot the ending is a bit underwhelming for me.

The publishers and author granted me a copy via Netgalley.

There’s always something comfortable about reading a Samantha Chase book; it’s the way she draws you in, the world she builds around her characters, and the characters themselves that you can see yourself being friends with and Suddenly Mine is no different. What is different in this book is there seemed to be a bit more drama than usual and therefore it wasn’t a book I was able to sit and read cover to cover, I found myself putting it down and giving myself a break something I’ve never done before with one of Ms. Chase’s books. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I did, but for me the avalanche of issues these two faced throughout this story became heavy and bogged down the romance aspect of their story.

His whole life all Christian Montgomery has wanted to do was please his father and make him proud so much so that his life is one big ball of stress and he has become a workaholic since taking over the San Diego branch of the family’s business. Lately the only thing that gives him any joy is watching the redheaded woman trying to surf at the beach in front of his home.

Finding out she’s been lied to her whole life Sophie Bennington left the small Kansas town she was raised in and moved to San Diego, California on a whim. While her job search isn’t going quite as planned and her savings is dwindling, she is enjoying the challenge of learning to surf. A chance meeting on the beach leaves her with a lead on a possible job and a run in with a bully has her meeting a man that interests her making her believe things are looking up.

I loved the connection between Christian and Sophie; they were both a bit lost in their lives and because of a health scare they bonded quite quickly. It was easy to see that they calmed one another, felt better when the other was around, and that despite their circumstances they trusted each other right away. I enjoyed when they spent time together and wished more of their conversations had been shared and there had been less drama from outside sources, but overall I did love this story. Both Christian and Sophie were dealing with parental issues of very different natures so while they had that in common their situations were much different often tainting their view of what the other was doing, thinking, and feeling.

One thing I appreciated about this book is that both main characters showed a great deal of growth throughout the course of this book; growth that made them realize that happiness comes from within and having someone to share your life with makes it better.

Overall, I enjoyed Suddenly Mine and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I received a copy of this from Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for my honest review.
I wanted to love this book. It had all the right ingredients. Sexy male lead, sweet main character, lots of family, cute story, but it just never gelled for me. There was lots of health scares and lack of depth with other characters. It was not a bad read, but not a favorite

I really enjoy this series and this one is no exception. I loved the heroine which is probably what made this so special. Sophie is an interesting character and her relationship with Christian was fantastic. I loved the themes of expectation and living your life for yourself. This was a really good one. Definitely can be read as a standalone but so much better if you read the series since they all come together so well and give you that added depth!

NOTE: I received this book for free from the publisher for an honest review.

Christian Montgomery made a mistake years ago and no matter what he does, he just cannot seem to make things right. He works way too many hours and it has finally begin to take a toll on him. If he does take a break, it is short-lived. The most Christian can do is to try and enjoy his beachfront deck. Oh that he could be as carefree as the California surfers!

Sophie Bennington has her own problems. She was doing just fine living in a small town in Kansas, but after learning something devastating, she headed to the West Coast. She is no good at surfing, but loves it nonetheless. Meanwhile, although a nurse, she is determined to start a new career.

Then Christian and Sophie meet. The circumstances were far less than favorable, but now they both get to stop and redirect their lives. Although they cannot see at first how, it would be just wonderful if the two could have a happy future together.

Christian's problem is that his job comes first, even at the expense of his health. As it is this that has become a major issue, it is really what brings Sophie into his life - and keeps her there. Now, if the tides could just change.

Suddenly Mine was an engaging read. I felt very connected to the characters. It was nice to read of a big strong hero that had a real weakness. He had to come down a peg or two in order to put his life back on track. Sophie was a delight. Her knowledge was key in helping Christian be restored. All the while there had to be further conflict in the story in order to make it work and I think it was handled quite well. I look forward to continuing this series to see what other Montgomery's might have in store.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

I don't think I've read a Samantha Chase book that I haven't absolutely adored! I love her witty heroines, her heroes that make my heart rate pick up speed. Suddenly Mine is no different - I loved this book so hard! It was the perfect read to get me out of my reading slump. Totally recommend!

Christian and Sophie come from totally different backgrounds. He's a big city businessman who spends his days drowning in responsibility. She's a small town girl who needs a fresh start. When tough choices and a bruised heart bring small town to the big city these two opposites discover they are not all that different where it counts. Suddenly Mine tells the story of two strangers trying to break free of heartbreaking pasts and create something new. Chase wards off the chill with a hint of heat, a ton of heart and some awesome romance.

Samantha Chase pairs stressed out, executive Christian Montgomery with Sophie Bennington, a shy, determined nurse from Kansas in Suddenly Mine. Christian and Sophie’s story is a fabulous journey filled with emotion, great dialogue and a healthy dose of Montgomery matchmaking.
Samantha Chase has created two unique characters in this novel; a Montgomery who isn’t sure if he wants to continue his career in the family business and a nurse who moved cross country to start over with a blank slate. I enjoyed reading this novel because the characters grew with each chapter of the book. Christian and Sophie are not cookie cutter romance characters-they have flaws, job pressures and family issues which made them relatable to me.
Sophie’s life is turned upside down when her grandmother admits to a family secret. She leaves Kansas for California hoping to sort through her feelings and resume her career in nursing. I loved Sophie’s can do attitude. She was determined to learn how to surf—and she got up every time a wave knocked her down. I really liked that Sophie stood up for herself-she was shy and a bit reserved but she was not a pushover! Christian’s life is his job. He needs to atone for a mistake he made years ago. He feels pressure from his father to focus, focus on the family business. Christian feels trapped—he runs an important division of his family business and has no time to himself.

The Montgomery family dynamics are very important in this novel. Samantha Chase makes an excellent, bold decision which shapes the plot. This choice made Suddenly Mine an excellent read because Ms. Chase stayed true to her characters. Suddenly Mine remained Christian and Sophie’s story; not a family drama. Ms. Chase’s fabulous dialogue is showcased when Sophie and Christian come to terms with their reality. Sophie speaks up for herself and their relationship and challenges Christian to see that someone else’s expectations shouldn’t define him. Loved the conversation between Christian and his uncle William Montgomery. Christian’s charming, matchmaking uncle is my favorite character in this series—he knows what to say and when to say it. William words have a huge impact on Christian. Family expectations lead Sophie back to Kansas to face her fears.
In my opinion, Suddenly Mine is Samantha Chase’s best work—this couple has a strong bond but, they have a lot of issues to work through. The book is rich in detail, characters and plot. Ms. Chase’s descriptive voice keeps the reader on the edge of their seat—I wasn’t sure how the last few chapters would play out.
Suddenly Mine is a fabulous romance filled with love, passion and the Montgomery clan. I am SO looking forward to A Dash of Christmas -Carter’s story!

You can’t go wrong with a Samantha Chase novel, and it’s even better when it’s a new entry into one of her great series. SUDDENLY MINE, the eighth novel in the Montgomery Brothers series, hits the nail on the head in both categories.
Christian Montgomery is an unhappy executive in the San Diego office of his family business. A workaholic, he is always striving in vain to gain the approval of his even more workaholic father. His only pleasure in life is sitting on the porch of his beach house and watching a pretty, red-headed, wannabe surfer.
Sophie Bennington, the struggling surfer, is from a small town in Kansas. Raised by her grandmother, she moves to San Diego to get a new start after she finds out the truth behind some very distressing family secrets. She is hired by Christian to start a company wellness program, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Both Christian and Sophie are well-written, complex characters. They are very supportive of each other as they each deal with family issues that must be understood before they can totally move forward with their relationship. Things that happen to them are very emotional and sometimes heartbreaking. The situations, their reactions and the dialog between them are very honest. Having dealt with some of the same issues myself, I was brought to tears on more than one occasion.
I love the way this author writes this romance. It builds at a steady, realistic pace, and it is very hot at times even though there are no explicit love scenes. She knows how to get things rolling, but she also knows when to shut the door and leave the rest to the readers’ imaginations.

The secondary characters, while not often present in the physical sense, are always present in the minds of the two main characters. They definitely add depth to the story and cause our hero and heroine to act the way they do. The plot is also complex, and while some of it is predictable, there are enough twists and turns to hold the reader’s interest.
SUDDENLY MINE is a great standalone novel even though it is part of a series. If you haven’t read the other books in the Montgomery Brothers series however, I would strongly suggest that you go back and do so. As I said before, you can’t go wrong with a Samantha Chase novel.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and the views expressed are my honest opinions.

Oh how I love the workaholic Christian and the free spirited Sophie together.

Christian Montgomery is miserable. Sure he kinda likes his job but why was he helmed with being the one Montgomery to take over the family business? How did his brother and sister get out of the constant scrutiny that he seems to always be under from their dad.

Although he's been in San Diego for a while. It still isn't his home. He works too much to date and having his dad breathing down his neck constantly doesn't help.

Sophie is ready to take control of her life. She moved from Kansas to San Diego to try and find herself and to get away from the whispers through her small town. It's time for her to learn new things, like surfing and to put herself out there.

Christian has seen this red head surfing (miserably) for the past couple of weeks and the fantasies of meeting the beautiful woman seem so out of reach. But when he sees her take a stumble and doesn't come up right away he runs to help save her. The only thing is she didn't really need saving.

Fate seems to be on their side as the two meet again the next day... but Sophie was on an interview and Christian was having a panic attack. The new nurse for the company was none other that Christian's fantasy - Sophie.

I loved how the two of them were broken in different ways but very much a like. They seems to be the calm to each others storms and I loved the chemistry between them. So much happens in this book and if I hadn't been sick when reading I would have read it straight through because it was definitely a page turner.

The Montgomery Brothers in one of those family sagas that I devour as soon as I can get my hands on it. I love this series and adore Samantha Chase. Definitely a great read.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is book 8 of the Montgomery Brothers series, and although you will get the family dynamics far better if you read them in order, they are fun reads in their own right. I am a fan, so knew the references and asides, which did make it even richer - and such a relief that Christian finally gets it!

Two very different characters are at the heart of this book, and although I am sure Monica and Eliza will chalk this up as a victory for them, William once again influences the outcome!

Christian is not a happy man - he is killing himself trying to impress his father, but never seems to make the grade. He could never work hard enough or make enough billions, and a health scare does give him a chance to review things, especially when he meets someone who finally elicits a spark of interest beyond one date. The fact that Sophie turns out to be a quasi employee is an issue, but in his attempt to be good to himself he lets it go. However his parents visit, and once again his father gets under his skin.

Sophie has only ever had her Nana, until she finds out a family secret, that everyone in her home town knew, but her. So she has run to San Diego and is trying a new career as a corporate nurse. This suits her character well, and gives her a chance to get to know Christian. Fathers play large in this story, and it is a visit in Kansas which made me tear up in this book, as being beautifully written and perfectly played out.

This is a very sweet and enjoyable read, which gets us all caught up on the Montgomerys' and the state of their relationships, and gives us hope at last for Christian and a happier life for him. The dynamics change a lot in this one and it will be interesting to see how that affects future matchmaking missions!

Suddenly mine is the 8th book in The Montgomery Brothers series and it can be read as stand-alone. We are on the Montgomery cousins part and I have to admit that I haven't read the original part of the series. Just the cousins part and I am looking forward to reading Carter's story. His character had some development that I wasn't expecting and it was good. I want to him develop even more and find love.

His brother and hero of this story is a workaholic to a point where he could be looking for a heart attack at the age of 50 and a lonely life. And since we can't have that hap[pening, we got Sophie entering his life and that's where the good part begins. Sophie has her own skeletons that chased her away from the life she knew and she is not exactly facing them. As you can see, both of them have issues and I am happy to say that they are working them out and they are not forgotten.

Sophie and Christian had a great relationship. They had their ups and downs, but their connection was strong and I got the feeling that nothing could really break them early in the book. That's the one part of the book that has been stuck in my mind the most and it's the best thing I could have stuck. It's a romance novel after all and I hate when I finish the book and I am not sure about the main couple and how long they are going to last. With Christian and Sophie, I am 1000% sure that they are meant to be. And it's good to have someone like her in the family after everything that went down in this book.

Overall the book was great and I would recommend it!

I absolutely loved this book. Samanthas book just keeps getting better and better. I can totally see this book cone to life in movie form. I just love Sophie and Christian, their chemistry is something that I think most every guy or girl would love to have. Sophie wanted a change and she moved to California. She took up surfing but couldn't get the hang of it but kept trying. Christian is a over worked hotter than heck man that notices Sophie out there surfing from his deck overlooking the ocean. He finally gets his chance to meet her when he jumps into action and races to the water to save her from drowning but doesn't get the chance as she comes up out if the water. The next time they meet is at Christains office when she is asked to take a look at him cuz he didn't look so well, his heart was racing, his chest hurt, he was sweating and pale. She jumped into action and taking her position as a nurse seriously. She told someone to call 911, Christian was in a bad way. She was afraid that he might be having a heart attack. She stayed by his side and found that he had a anxiety attack and that he needs to take better care of himself. I just love how they come together and take care if each other.

4 Star Review of Suddenly Mine (The Montgomery Brothers #8) by Samantha Chase

I love this series from Samantha Chase. Each and every book is filled with love and family. I would not mind being adopted into the Montgomery clan to be honest. Although book 8 this can be read as a stand alone.

This is Christian Montgomery and Sophie Bennington’s story and one that I enjoyed. Although perhaps not as much as previous books in the series. Christian is a workaholic and the family business is all that he has focused on for years. Sophie, reeling from the fact that her whole life is a lie meet by chance.

Fate works in mysterious ways and when they Christian is attracted to her but knows he has no time to date. However Christian is shocked when he discovers that the new nurse for the company is in fact the mysterious Sophie.

As they work together they develop a relationship which has a big impact on Christian. The chemistry between them was at times intense and yet it was heart warming to see their love develop; both of them were committed to forging a future together despite their pasts and the secrets that threatened to destroy them.

This is a well written story of coming to terms with the past, of love and family which I really enjoyed.

Have you ever read a book that had you sighing one minute and cursing the characters the next? Well, this one had me doing it! Christian is literally working himself to death and hating his job while he is doing it. The best part of his day is his morning coffee when sitting on his deck when he gets a glimpse of his surfer girl. He would like nothing more than to go down to the beach and introduce himself but something, mainly himself, is holding him back until one day he witnesses a bully knock her off her board and he came up out of the surf but she didn't. Christian rushed to the beach to save her but she didn't need saving. That was their first meeting. A few days later in his office he thought he was having a heart attack and Sophie just happened to be in the office interviewing for a job, THE job, and thankfully she was and was able to go into nurse mode and be by his side. These two were perfect from the beginning to how slow they took it and how totally awkward they were. Sure, they had their twists and turns and bumps in the road but this story had the perfect ending! Make sure you read to the very end, it is so stinking sweet! I definitely recommend this one!

Big city boy meets small town girl.

I liked this book, just fine. It was a simple, but predictable read- which is what I've come to expect from Samantha Chase books. Well written, smooth, and simple. I will say, I wanted to see a little more sizzle between Sophie and Christian. It was a good addition to the Montgomery series. It did make me excited to read the next book, which I am hoping is Carter's story!

3.5/5 Stars.

Honestly I can’t say enough good things about this series! I’ve read all and loved all. Author Samantha Chase simply gives us what we want. I love how match making by loved ones plays a big part in these books. It’s fun to experience it all. Christian and Sophie are the perfect pair. Both have things they are trying to overcome and them coming together was just beautiful. There is no way you won’t fall in love with these two. Matter of fact all of the Montgomery Brothers and their loves and offspring. I’m definitely looking forward to more!

I always say that Sports Romance is my crack, but honestly, so are the Montgomerys. I love this series and this family ( and Samantha Chase too) SO hard. Christian was one I worried about after reading snippets about him in other books. He works way too hard, and is too closed off. And that’s where Sophie comes in. She shows him how to have fun again, and love, and it’s magical. A great addition to this series.

Christian Montgomery is a workaholic continually trying to please his Father. Sophie Bennington is struggling with a secret that had been kept from her for years. They connect immediately but their romance is slow to develop.

This book is part of a series but if you haven’t read the others you will have no trouble following the story. It is an enjoyable story about a family and a couple trying to work out the issues in their lives to get to a happy ending. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Talk about a roller coaster ride. Ups and downs. Love and heartbreak. Happiness and Regret. This book has it all.

Christian has tried to prove himself to his father all his life, to be the son that his father was proud of. Working for the family business is hard, but he tells himself its worth it. But whatever he does, its never enough for his father.

Sophia has upended her life in one move. She left the midwest after finding out everything she thought she knew about her parents was a lie. And the person who told the biggest lie: her grandmother who raised her. Granted, she understood why her grandmother did this, but Sophia feels that she should have been told the truth when she was old enough to understand, rather than finding out from a stranger.

Christian and Sophia's relationship started as friends before becoming lovers. Each listened to the other and truly got to know one another, which I truly liked.

This is a great series and I can't wait for the next book.

I am a fan of Chase's work, but this book just didn't grab me like some of her other series. It was an okay book, but nothing special.

I had a BIG problem with Christian's father and uncles. The father for putting so much unfair pressure on his children, but also on the uncles for watching this behaviour over the years and never stepping in to stop some of this borderline cruel behaviour.

But, I loved how the matchmaking has shifted from the beginning of the Montgomerys series. I loved how both Christian and Sophie were damaged by their families in different ways, but were able to help the other heal. And I had tears streaming down my face when Sophie confronted her past, truly a gut-wrenching chapter. (Though I don't fully understand why it was only going to be a one-time thing. I'm a big believer in second chances, so this would have been an added layer to the story.)

I will continue to look forward to more of Chase's writing.

My review on Romancing-the-Book is below:

Suddenly Mine started off like most of the other books in the Montgomery Brothers series with an uptight male character who finds a woman who can ease his anxiety and show him there's more to life than work. It doesn't always take place between the sheets either even though there are some very steamy moments! Christian and Sophie have an instant connection even before they officially meet. The attraction is there and when they finally meet there are definite sparks. It only increases as we get to know them better and we watch them try to find common interests.

It was nice to be back with the Montgomery family and this time it is Christian's story but the other family members play significant roles. There is heartbreak and desolation along with anger on Christian's part but with a good woman beside him, who is also a nurse, things can get better or so they seem. Christian and Sophie have nice chemistry but she's stronger than she looks and doesn't want others to forget it. Christian has to learn that he can't always get his way and that words do hurt. The story takes place mainly in California but also in Kansas where Sophie is originally from. Their pasts plays a significant role and when they communicate it's heartwarming but when they don't it's heartbreaking.

The family pulls together as always and it was nice to see the bonds between them. There is a nice flow to the story with some unexpected twists and turns. The characters had a depth to them and we get to know them better a little at a time. There was some closure and the epilogue, which takes place six months later, was a nice touch. I can't wait to read more in this series since there seems to be more stories to tell.

Ms. Chase is one of my favorite authors of contemporary romance reminiscent to me of Jill Shalvis, Erin Nicholas, Sherryl Woods and Susan Mallery among others where families are always front and center!

Christian Montgomery has been working for the family business since he was fifteen-years old. After a personal debacle while in the London office, he now heads up their San Diego branch. He eats, breathes and sleeps work, with his very limited relaxation time consisting of sitting on his deck of his beachside home watching the cute, red-head try to surf, enjoying the fact that what skill she lacks she more than makes up for with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. When he has a health scare at work that lands him in the ER, Christian is surprised to learn that that same red-head, Sophie, is his company's new corporate nurse. Although they're attracted to each other, Sophie and Christian agree that keeping things “just friends" is best for their work relationship. Well, we all know how those famous last words always work out.

Chase does it again with this newest book in the Montgomery series, and I adored Christian and Sophie's story! On the surface it looks like the typical billionaire office romance, but this book is oh, so much more. Both Christian and Sophie have issues with secrets being kept from them, as well as unresolved issues with their fathers. Look beneath the meet-cute romance and you’ll see two characters who challenge each other but support each other as they work to sort through personal challenges and old wounds in order to become their best version of self. Christian works to discover who he is outside of work, and Sophie is one of the most upbeat, admirable heroines I’ve ever read, facing every challenge head-on.

Although Chase leaves the details to the reader's imagination, the chemistry between Sophie and Christian crackles and sparks. Their story is by turns humorous and heartfelt, and poignant and insightful, and it had me fully engaged every step of the way. I certainly don’t mind a little sexy times with my romance, but this book is just right exactly the way it is. It leaves the focus on two people learning, growing and choosing to change, leaving the lessons they learn to linger with the reader. Christian and Sophie's journey is full of passion, heart and emotion, and sure to please the romantic in all of us.

I love the Montgomery series. All of these kids are victims of their parents matchmaking. Christian is just the next in line. He is the workaholic, trying to prove to his father that he has what it takes to make the business successful. He doesn't have time for a relationship nor does he want one after what happened in the London office. He has put all of that behind him. Every morning he sits on his deck and watches the beach. There are yoga classes, fishermen and surfers. One sufer in particular catches his eye. How can he miss her? She's a red head in the sea of blondes. Plus she's not very good. He finally gets to talk to her and they hit it off. Too bad he doesn't get her number.
Sophie has moved to San Diego to escape her small home town. She wants a fresh start where not everyone knows your business. She needs it no matter how uncomfortable it makes her. She wants to learn new things and surfing is one of them. She needs a job though and one seems to fall into her lap one morning after surfing. These two wonderful ladies talk to her about a health program in their family business. Since Sophie wants to try new things, why not this different nursing program? She'd be able to work at different companies through an agency. It's the family business that gets her back in touch with the guy from the beach.
When Christian has a major health scare, Sophie is there to assess. She took the guy's advice on the beach and insisted on an interview. Good thing she did. She was there through his whole time in the hospital with him. And he was someone she wanted to know more. Christian found the same to be true of Sophie.
I loved these characters. Sophie is a strong woman who stepped outside her comfort zone in everything. She knows her heart and her mind and won't settle for anything less than the truth. Christian is much the same. He has been torn apart by lies in his past and won't put himself in that situation again but he has guarded himself against everyone. It's difficult for him to ask for help in work and in the relationship. Sophie has to stay with it and be patient. Christian is complicated but worth it.

Uumm...Didn't see that coming.  I was prepared for another sweet romance with some family drama mixed in, but Samantha really brings the drama and turmoil in this one.  She keeps you on your toes from the first to last page.  I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't read it yet, so I'll do my best.

Christian was profiled pretty well in the last book, Until there was Us, as an extreme workaholic with father/trust issues and everyone in the family was very worried about him.  Well, in this one we see why they worry so much.  He ends up having a panic attack that felt more like a heart attack which makes him change his mind about his driven lifestyle.  He spends the rest of the book making a lasting connection with Sophie and figuring out what kind of a life he really wants to have and battling with the unreal expectations his father has set on him.  (Ok, there is a twist in all of that, but that is a spoiler I don't want to ruin.)  Meanwhile you have Sophie who is dealing with her own family drama and trying to make a new start for herself.  She ends up coming to Christian's rescue and helps him discover the life he's been missing.

Before the panic attack his mom and aunt do their best to play matchmaker, but think they've been thwarted by bad luck.  I think we find out how his mom and aunt feel about their matchmaking skills in the next book, I hope.  So for the most part everyone gets their happily ever after, but some family members will be reeling from changes to the family in this episode for a long time to come.  So don't let it be said I didn't warn you that you might hate Samantha after you finish this one.  I'm optimistic that she will find a way to make us happier with the next in the series.

Honestly though, I'm giving this 4.5 of 5 because it pulled at my heart strings and I just couldn't put it down.  I knew they would be together in the end, but I wasn't sure how they were going to get there and that made me keep reading right up to the last word.  I can't wait for the next one to come out.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

Suddenly Mine is the next book in Samantha Chase's Montgomery Brothers series. While this may be one of the later books in the series, if you haven't read the previous books, you can pick this one up and dive right in.

Christian Montgomery runs the San Diego branch of the family business, Montgomery Investments. He's always been driven and has worked nearly non-stop since he was a teenager. He currently lives in his cousin's beach house and the only form of relaxation he seems to enjoy is sitting on the deck drinking his coffee and watching the yogis and the surfers. There is one particular surfer, a red head, that he'd like to get to know better, but he just doesn't have the time with his work.

Sophie Bennington needed a change. All the things she thought she knew about things that happened in her childhood were a lie and the last thing she wanted was to stay in her hometown. She picked a new city, sight unseen and moved there. San Diego was the choice and she also decided to try new things, like surfing, while looking for a job as a nurse.

Sophie and Christian meet once on the beach and while he'd like to ask her out, he just knows he doesn't have the time. Sophie ends up going in for an interview and as irony would have it, the boss falls ill while she's there and she's not only able to help, but it turns out the boss is Christian. As the story progresses and Christian and Sophie get to know one another more, she changes him in ways no one else could. Sure, some of it is from the health scare, but he finally has a reason in his life besides work.

Seeing how these two navigated their relationship was wonderful. They prided themselves on honesty and their communication was good. They wanted to be there for one another regardless what was going on and with both of them having baggage, that's saying something. This was one of those books I didn't want to put down and I applaud Samantha Chase for an awesome book!
