Product Description
Product Description
The "Stone Age" times were hard indeed. In their roles as hunters, collectors, farmers, and tool makers, our ancestors worked with their legs and backs straining against wooden plows in the stony earth. Of course, progress did not stop with the wooden plow. People always searched for better tools and more productive plants to make their work more effective. In Stone Age, the players live in this time, just as our ancestors did. They collect wood, break stone and wash their gold from the river. They trade freely, expand their village and so achieve new levels of civilization. With a balance of luck and planning, the players compete for food in this pre-historic time. Players use up to ten tribe members each in three phases. In the first phase, players place their men in regions of the board that they think will benefit them, including the hunt, the trading center, or the quarry. In the second phase, the starting player activates each of their staffed areas in whatever sequence they choose, followed in turn by the other players. In the third phase, players must have enough food available to feed their populations, or they face losing resources or points.
From the Manufacturer
The Dawn of Mankind. Our ancestors were hard workers, resting only very little. Luckily for us, their ingenuity allowed them to make their work easier, day after day. In Stone Age, players are sent back to that arduous period of history. With tools, quite archaic at first, you will be able to collect wood, stone and gold. These resources will allow you to attain higher levels of knowledge and build sturdier roofs over your head. Though luck plays an important part in the game, only those who master their fate will be able to grasp victory. Finally, one mustn't forget to feed their tribe as that would represent a major setback for them. Relive history. CARVE YOUR VICTORY - IN STONE.

It's a fairly simple worker placement game where you got to balance your priorities between gathering food, growing your population, collecting materials, building structures, and researching technologies. At the start of the game, you have a fairly small population, but by the end, each person has a tribe with its own set of unique strengths. I personally go for the farming method if the "build a farm" area is not too crowded to save me from catching food later. My brother may go for the "love hut" method to get a lot of people quickly. Whereas another friend goes for hoarding resources and tools so he can build the best buildings.
It's insanely gratifying to build up your civilization into something even better each turn. It can also be nerve-racking if you're really low on food and you need your people in the forest to catch a certain amount of food and you're not sure if they can do it.
The dice rolling dynamic puts in a good amount of randomness to balance out an otherwise purely strategy-based game. I like how the game doesn't play out as competitive. Though there is a winner at the end of each game, as we go through we get so invested in helping each other and making our own tribes that it feels like more of a collaborative game.
Excellent game and it's set to go on for just the right amount of time usually about 60-90 minutes for a three-person group.
This is a worker placement game and the mechanic is very simple, you need to gather resorces by placing your workers on different areas of the board and the amount of resources you get is bases on a dice roll. The more workers you use for one resource, the more probability you have of gathering several of such resource. Resources are used to build houses and adquire cards. Once the round ends. You pay food acoording to the number of workers you have.
The reason I love this game, is beacuse it is very simple to learn and has many different strategies for making points so depending on your opponents actions you may need to adjust your strategy. Also playing with 4 players is the best experience because it is harder to get the things you want as everybody is trying to get the same things. It can also be played with two players and it becomes a eace for the most points.
I certainly recommend it!
5 stars for the game, 1 star for the seller’s unwise decision not ship it in a larger box.

The majority of the components don't require you to read details which I know is a plus for some people.
As far as the gameplay goes it's relatively easy to grasp, you have a starting number of villagers (this number can increase) and you can assign villagers to perform tasks, this includes hunting, gaining building materials, increasing farm size, adding village members, building structures and completing activity cards.
As you complete tasks and make buildings you get victory points and the person, after the end game effects occur, with the most points is the winner.
The components are of a high quality overall, including: resources made of shaped wood (food & tool tokens are made of card), the buildings and cards are of decent quality with nice artwork, the villagers are shaped so are unique for the game, player boards are clear and suitable to use, 1st player marker (looks odd to me personally but is a nice touch), a leather dice shaker with wooden dice (14mm in size) and the game board is really nice looking too.
It's worth noting that each turn you're required to feed your villagers, which I know is a pain for some people, but this is only a issue early on so how you control your resources is important.
I'm aware that the price, depending on where you buy, is a little off putting but I've really enjoyed this game and I believe this is a good family game that can be used to play games with people who rarely boardgame.
