Royals of Valleria #9

Sarah & Vittorio

Rate this book
A princess who lives life to the fullest. Princess Sarah of Valleria, ambassador to Italy, has been known to date a man or two in her time (though not at the same time - well, except that once, which was completely an accident), and she makes no apologies for it. One morning, however, she wakes up with a sexy man in her bed who turns out to be an Italian prince. A prince looking beyond her royal mask. Prince Vittorio ‘Rio’ Baziano never thought a night at a charity ball would end up with him in bed with a wildcat. When morning dawns, and it becomes clear she isn’t just the flighty socialite he thought she was, and he isn’t the random Italian she thought he was, they both begin to see other in a new light. Can a one-night stand become one night of forever? Once the press picks up on their royal romance, and the pictures and videos start circulating from the night before, they decide the best thing to do is to ride out the scrutiny. They’ll fake a fairytale romance for one month, and then they’ll part ways. One month to manage the fallout and convince royal relations to back their scheme. One month to pretend to like each other, then break up gracefully. One month isn’t so long at all, is it? After all, it’s not like they’ll fall in love with each other. With the paparazzi on their tails and their families reacting in devious and threatening ways, can they look past the fake to forever? This novel features a fake royal romance that may turn real, one royal family that loves one another (even while they annoy each other), and a look behind fictional palace walls. This is a standalone book in the series with no cliffhanger, and features extra sexy scenes and swearing. Emotional trigger discussion of potential assault. * * * Meet the Royals of Valleria, a country as old as the fall of the Roman Empire. The reigning king and patriarch rules with his beloved queen. Nine children, now grown, ranging from the eldest twins to the youngest son, watch over the country they love and care for. Bound by honour, duty, and loyalty, follow their lives as they fall in love, face tragedies, and triumph against the evils facing them. Want more Royals? Different

I have read all of these Royals of Valleria books and was not as pleased with this edition. These books have always taken you "into the bedroom" so to speak. But this book went into very graphic detail of which I found degrading to the series.

This one ... was a heck of a lot of smut.

Don't get me wrong, I tend to enjoy books like this occasionally. But this one seemed quite crude in comparison to the rest of the others in the series.

And also, it just rubbed me the wrong way (not because of the smut!). I kept feeling like Sarah was being much too controlling and too demanding, and Rio basically had to give up everything while she was just there, la-di-da, I'll be pretty and smart and keep everything. I mean, she apologised and all that, but still, HE was the one who made all the massive changes anyway so that he could be with her, and she really ... didn't. She just sort of assumed he'd be there for her despite knowing what it was like for him.

I dunno. This one was more of a miss than anything.

And let's not get started on how they all treated Rio! Like, come on, did anyone treat Finn the same way? Or Eddie? I don't remember them getting pinned to the wall and nearly suffocated! And then everyone was like 'haha we wouldn't really' but clearly Rio was quite badly out of breath if he was seeing black spots and double. Like, seriously, what IS that bullshit? No one jumped about the other girls as much, it just seemed so out of proportion and weird. Ugh.

A 3.9 and a half to 4.1!!

I read the previous reviews and thought against buying this new book but unfortunately my love for this series win out! Rio and Sarah are a delight to read about - be it that have a different type of relationship from the previous royal couples and they are written with a more dominant/submissive sexual relationship especially the language used in their sexual encounters. That alone may have put people off
I would have like to see what Sarah's father said to Rio in the private meeting they had and some kind of fallout for Rio's awful family - as they never did get the punishment they deserved. It needed a bit more padding in those areas. And also it's on the cusp of being too expensive for me and I did quibble over paying more than two pounds extra than I did for the other books. I know it is still just a digital book but it's still pricy.
All in order I liked this far more than Catherine and Eddie's story which took me several readings to enjoy and appreciate.
Now all I have to do is await the next installment!!

Sarah and Vittorio...

Well worth the wait. Book 9 of the Royals of Valleria. It was a Fanfreakingtastic read. Characters that take you there. Dialogue that puts you dead smack in the thick of it. Sarah is beauty and brains. Victoria is sexy and smart. Each have their issues but in the end fight to be together. Heartwarming, dramatic and hella sexy.

I enjoyed reading the book. Would like to had a little bit more of the rest of the family in the story but other than that a good book.

Felt rushed and as if it were missing some plot points. Still like the series but wished this one was better thought out, wanted more plot and intrigue.
