Macro lens is fun — no warranty included despite description
So the lenses themselves are fun. I wanted this specifically for the macro lens. I’m thinking of ordering a second to see which macro copy I prefer.The pros:1. Decent weight to the lenses telling me they’re not completing garbage2. They are compatible with iPhone 15 pro3. Macro is 15x so you can get a taste of macro on a very limited budget4. Clarity of image with the macro lens is decent.5. No noticeable vignetting from my copy6. The zippered case is nicer than a baggieThe cons1. There is no lens cap for the back of the lens for the wide angle lens when you’re only using the macro lens2. Same goes for the macro when using wide angle3. There is NO warranty and anyone in their right mind would NEVER INSERT A USB STICK INTO A DEVICE FOR A WARRANTY!!! I can’t stress this enough.4. I went to Xenvo’s webpage for warranty info and there isn’t any—so there is no warranty5. You can achieve an image with bokeh, however I’ve found it doesn’t always look nice. It’s better looking when I have a lot of natural sunlight and I will get the desired round bokeh rather than just a blurred streaky background.6. Clarity with the macro lens is decent — greatest clarity is in the middle of the lens (and to the center left it seems on the glass I received) so if you’re into the golden rule, it may be tough or not meet your expectations7. Halo edges when there is high contrast is extremely common with this macro lens8. Depth of field is okOverall, this has been a fun macro exploration for $40 versus a $700-$1000 lens that I’m unsure about really wanting (although, I know it would be awesome but I’m not all in on macro at this point), so I’m satisfied!

A great product for the money, when combined with an existing intermediate skill level with the basics of photography and some established experience with phone macro photography specifically. A meaningful upgrade from cheaper lenses, and a great compliment to more powerful lenses that lack the Xenvo's high image quality and increased depth-of-field. This will likely be my primary phone macro lens until I decide to shell out for a Moment, an Exolens, or a dedicated camera.
Pros:
- This is a meaningful upgrade to the "cheapo" introductory-level 3-in-1 kits you see all over Amazon, and even outcompetes Apexel's professional offering in the same price bracket.
- The wide aperture gives this lens a wider depth of field than I'm used to with clip-on lenses. Very good.
- Edge distortion is minimal most of the time, and often unnoticeable.
- Retains subject color and clarity.
- The 15x Macro is an improvement over the more-common 10x and 12x variants.
- The accessories are actually very useful; the light in particular has been a lifesaver when I needed a little extra brightness boost (though I do mean "a little"... it basically does the job but I'll probably upgrade, and soon).
Cons:
- The further-back working distance is hard to adjust to, even if you'd used clip-on lenses before.
- The lens is necessarily bulkier than a lot of clip-on macro lenses on the market. While this benefits image quality, it does mean that the product is a little unwieldy, and the subsequently hyper-robust phone clip covers on a noticeable-though-not-unforgivable chunk of the phone screen. Not a pleasant setup to carry around or maneuver... but still worlds better than a dedicated camera in this regard.
- The clip-on light doesn't hold a charge very long at all... it only stays at maximum brightness for a quarter-hour or so before beginning to significantly dim. This is unfortunate because I wanted to love this clip-on light and instead I merely like it.
A solid base product benefitted by useful add-ons... but it won't replace your DSLR.
