TL;DR = this monitor is super fast response, no blurring. Great once you calibrate it - go to toms hardware and use this as a guide:
[...]
**Keep in mind you can't use the black equalization AND change to gamma 4 like they recommend. You'll have to disable the black equalization.
**"Blur reduction - while this works pretty great, the monitor is so damn fast that it's not worth 42% brightness for. YES, it cuts the brightness in half
bringing it to 58%
**Make sure you use the cable that comes with it! You won't get over 60hz if you use an older DVI cable. Not sure? Compare your old DVI cable to the one that comes in the box. If it looks different, then you'll need to swap it out. In my case I have my pc 9 foot to the side in the corner so I had to buy a longer version for about $15.
Calibration settings (which you can find on toms hardware, various other sites. This is using a calibration hardware tool)
Picture Mode: Standard
Brightness: 71
Contrast: 43
Color Temp User: Red 100, Green 98, Blue 96
More detailed review:
While manufacturers are constantly upping the resolution, here is what you should REALLY consider before thinking of going to a 1440p monitor, or a 4k monitor vs what I'm reviewing here which is a 1080p monitor.
Consider GPU power. What I mean is if you are running a single video card or SLI cards (I have 2x GTX 980TI's in SLI) you need to consider what to expect.
-27" 1080p, (1920x1080) is a perfect resolution for 27" gaming. On a single card, even a GTX 770 can nearly max out all settings on most games and get to 50-60fps (except GTA V, you'll need more gpu power for that)
-1440p monitor, expect to get around 20-30% less.
-4k don't expect anything except around MAYBE 30fps on a single card with everything maxed out.
-With my SLI setup for the 980TI GB cards, I pull down around 120fps on everything. I adjust this monitor accordingly. You can set various modes 60hz, 120, 144. If you are using NVIDIA cards, then you just pull up the control panel for nvidia and adjust the hz.
Some 'hacks' so to speak is if you can get over 72 fps constant, then you can use VSYNC -2 (2 frame and it will make FPS half of refresh rate which is 72fps) and set monitor to 144hz for really smooth gameplay. Faster than 60fps, but with vsync on and super fast monitor you'll notice very very little lag if at all plus no texture tearing (only if the game supports 1 or 2 frame vsync, otherwise you'd have to hack an ini file or something).
Another thing you'll notice is if you do set it to 144hz, when you drag windows around on your desktop it will be SUPER ULTRA SMOOTH and it's almost jarring how smooth it is! I was excited for this even though well, that's not a lot of use but cool to look at I guess :)
Older games can really benefit from this (HALF LIFE 2) because you'll get 144fps at 144hz with Vsync on and it's crazy good. So damn fast.
Don't hesitate. I spent many hours researching monitors, I bought an AOC and a ASUS (they were fast monitors too, but nothing touched this one). It's worth the price and you don't need a monster video card to push the resolution. If you decide to go 1440p version of this monitor, then expect to have a beefy video card 980TI overclocked, or better yet in SLI. But that's like $1400 in video cards, sooooooo 1080p suddenly becomes a lot more attractive.

11/16/2016 - *Edit* I'm back. This monitor is still kicking ass. I've really really enjoyed using it. If your games can run at 144, you are in for a smooth as silk experience. Even if you can't do 144, then do 120 or even 100. They are awesome. I plan on rolling with this monitor for at least another 2 years until 4k GPU performance catches up and I can do 4k at 144 fps :) (hopefully they'll make a 144hz 4k monitor hehe)
