Pros: I like the price and fact that the red makes these stand out. With my Garmin there has always been a problem when connecting to a car that the car rather than just giving power to the device would try to connect. This eliminates that problem. Now with rental cars I've switched to Google Navigation and I like that this isolates power only to your usb device, and that way my phone is safe from a USB Virus attack from a rental car. The peace of mind of being able to plug into any USB JACK and just get power only is priceless.
CONS: These are easy to loose either to theft or just putting in a drawer and forgetting which one.
Yes I'd buy these again, and just did as didn't want to spend time looking, Also I'd recommend them to friends. bdv

The only data blocker you can see working
PortaPow has the only data blocker where the two wires which carry data have been physically removed, so you can be sure it is working. You can see this for yourself just by looking at the male USB-A connector.
SmartCharge
A basic data blocker will send a fixed charging signal, which may result in slower charging. The PortaPow Data Blocker includes our SmartCharge chip which detects and sends the correct signal for your device, compatible with Apple, Universal or Samsung standards. This will prevent slowdown and fix charging issues in some cases - read the reviews for testimonials.
Visible Security
The two data wires have been physically removed from the USB-A connector. You can easily see this through the unique security window cut into the metal.
Laser Etching
'NO DATA' and 'PortaPow' have been laser etched into the USB-A connector for added confidence you've received a genuine PortaPow product.
Compact Size
Measuring just 43x18x11mm (1.7x0.7x0.4"), its a similar size to a cable's USB connector so won't block neighboring sockets. Uses 25% less plastic than previous models for a lower environmental impact.
Zero-waste Packaging
The two adaptors arrive in a single bag which can be reused as a no-frills resealable case for the blocker and/or other small parts. The internal size is 60x50mm.

Which Data Blocker Do I Need?
Check the end of your cable that plugs into a charger (not the end which plugs into your device!) and match it to the image on the left, Most public chargers use a USB-A shape socket, so if your cable is also USB-A then you need our USB-A to A data blocker.
But if your cable is USB-C and you want to charge from a USB-A shape socket, then you need to also convert the shape to charge from public sockets. Our USB-A to C blocker does that.
There are now also many USB-C public chargers, if you'd like to charge from these then you need our USB-C to A blocker or our USB-C to C blocker depending on the shape of your cable's connector. See below for our full range.

A MUST have when traveling!
The bright red color is super useful to recognize right away those devices, and don't confuse them with other adapters. Also for the price you will get two of them, which is a bargain.In the hacking world we live in right now, people are using all kind of tricks to try stealing your data. Hiding some skimming devices inside available public charging USB plugs is definitely on the rise. Now I don't travel without those for a peace of mind, knowing that I will only get power and that no data will ever pass by those public plugs. Definitely a recommended purchase.

I bought this for an overseas trip. I used this on the airplanes, airports, and hotels. So far it seems to do what it claims to do. I like the fact that this is affordable and it comes in a pair. Also comes with it a laynard that you insert into the pouch and tie that to your data cable for storing the plugs afterwards.
One way I can verify this is to charge my iPhone on another Macbook (upon plugging in, iTunes did not see my phone). This is also great for charging my phone on a company laptop as well.
I would like to see the next gen (4) version to be a little smaller. This one obviously created an additional extended length, which normally wouldn't be an issue. But when I'm sitting in a tight spot, like on the plane, it can easily be knocked out of place.
