I really like this product. The tablets are very small (like a pellet) and easy to swallow. No upset stomach when taken on an empty stomach, with food or with other supplements. I've only been taking this supplement for about a week, so I can't speak to the long term effects, but so far so good.
Thank you for this lovely small sized iron pill that my 6 yr old daughter can actually swallow. I'd been on the hunt all over to find one. Chewable & liquid ones were gross, others were way to big to choke down. This one was recommended by our doctor and completely fits the bill.
I started taking these iron supplements when I was suspicious of a iron deficiency because I was having an unusual amount of hair fall out. I never got confirmation that I truly had an iron deficiency but I can say after taking these every single day for about a month I was having way less hair come out in the shower and when I brushed. I know there can be dangers when taking too much iron so I definitely wouldn't recommend taking more than one single dose per day. But especially if you are vegan or vegetarian and aren't eating a lot of iron-rich foods I think this supplement can really be beneficial if you're having issues with your hair.
Due to extreme anemia few years ago, I went to an outpatient center for iron infusions. I managed to avoid anemia all these years despite being a vegetarian since about age 9, but I suspect having multiple children in a short period sapped my iron reserve while I wasn't taking the best care of myself. The result of the infusions was fantastic, as if a fog was lifted off of my brain within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, this procedure is expensive, even though 80% was covered by my health insurance.
Lately, I've been feeling sluggish, and instead of paying hundreds of dollars, I decided to do some self-maintenance. I've been weary of iron pills after being recommended to take them by my OBGYN while pregnant because I had an awful reaction to the pills containing ferrous sulfate and barely ate anything for about a week, so it was a leap of faith to try these at a recommendation by a mostly vegetarian friend. These did not upset my stomach at all one bit, even on empty stomach. Initially, the backup from the, um, other end was slightly there, but that went away after a few days. These tiny pills are easy to swallow and are well-tolerated by my digestive system.
I'm very pleased with these pills and am curious if my iron level is within acceptable range during my next checkup. From my hack research, I don't think these are the most processable form of iron, but any boost in iron is a benefit than no iron because my body doesn't like the more absorbable type.
I went vegan for a little over a year, and during that time I had to take iron supplements because I knew I was not getting what I needed. I have since had my iron checked and everything was fine. The only problem I had was major constipation, but I knew that going into it since this is common with iron. Ones that say they are not constipating always seem to constipate me, so I have to do extra work to make sure that doesn't happen. Drinking daily fiber and a lot of it can really help. You really want to get a hold of it, because If you don't the old hemorrhoids might come for you. Believe me, you don't want that problem! Also drink extra water, most people these days are dehydrated and they don't even know it. If you are thirsty that means you are usually. I carry a water bottle with me at all times and obsessively sip on water to prevent this. I've been doing that for over 10 years.
