Overall love the monitor. Not too sure about QC at Asus.

Overall love the monitor. Not too sure about QC at Asus.
I looked at what both Acer and Asus had to offer in this line of monitor and settled on the Asus. The build quality, features, and ease navigating the menus is what won me over. Plus the monitor just looks better. Acer has gone a little overboard with it's gamer series products. The Asus model also got the approval from the wife. :) I tried the XB271HU & K series monitor and sent them back right away. Just as bad light bleed problems(if not worse) and the OSD's were a nightmare to navigate. I have 2 GTX 980 Ti's in SLI and for me I chose to go with 4k G-Sync and 60hz over lower res & higher framerates. I ended up ordering two of these from Amazon. The first one I received had light bleed that I would classify as minimal, but still more than I wanted paying full price($900) for! So I called customer service and they sent another one out overnight and a return label for the 1st one. Scared that I would get a monitor that was worse than the first one, I refrained from sending it back(glad I did). My fears came true and the 2nd monitor arrived with easily twice as much backlight bleed. Mind you both appeared to have been factory opened and had a "QC Passed" sticker on the top of the box. I called Amazon's awesome customer service again and asked if I could just keep the 1st monitor and send the 2nd one back. They not only let me do that, but compensated me for the trouble! I wouldn't buy this monitor anywhere else. I'll live with the minimal light bleed. From what I've seen, I don't believe a perfect backlight bleed free monitor exists in this model.Pros:Color Accuracy - Wife is a graphic designerBuild QualityG-Sync4kOverall Picture QualityCons:Backlight bleedPrice

Best Gaming Monitor I have ever used!
The screen is beautiful, images are crisp and clear. Gaming is unreal. I play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege and Battlefield 1. WOW just WOW! Using the NVIDIA G-Sync really shows the difference between how gaming can be good or GREAT! Minimum requirements for G-Sync is having a GTX 980 GPU. Love this monitor so much I'm working on getting a second one, having a 1080p monitor seems so lackluster sitting next to this beautiful creature!
To address the BLB [back light bleed], Yes there is a small area on the left side lower corner of the screen. For me this is no concern as the games I play are not affected by this. If I were watching a movie with a black scene I might notice it. If you cannot handle this, then I suggest that you look into a TN Panel Monitor. They are set up completely different and are not affected by BLB as much.
One thing to remember or think about when getting this monitor - 60Hz is the best the refresh you will get no matter what. And that is only with a Displayport connection. HDMI will only give you 60Hz at 1080p resolution, at 1440p on HDMI you will only get 24Hz at best and at 4K you will only get 20-24Hz. It works but you will not get the resolution or awesomeness that is Displayport. Make sure that you get a good DP cable though, anything over 2 meters (~6.6 ft) you will loose signal and you may get a "flickering/blank" screen at 4K resolution.
Set up was a breeze and the on-screen navigation is easy to use. The included USB 3.0 cord works perfectly and gives you an extra port for connecting flash drives, keyboards etc. (note: the USB 3.0 cord is only about 6 ft. long so if your computer is too far away you would need to get a USB 3.0 extension which can run about $40)

Overall I give this a 5 star since ASUS has produced a wonderful product and I would recommend this monitor to any Gamer or anyone who needs great detail for programs like PhotoShop.

I had a little trepidation about ordering this monitor due to the numerous complaints of blb. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. The picture is excellent. Even on the default settings, the picture looks good. Play with settings and you can get an extraordinary picture. There are no dead pixels, no light bleed, and no other problems. Doom in 4k at max settings looks absolutely amazing. The Witcher Wild Hunt also looks great in 4k. The base is sturdy and very adjustable, offering a wide range of possibilities for height and tilt. Overall I am quite pleased with this purchase. If anything changes, I will update this review.

Edit: Nothing's changed, but I wanted to add something...If you have a Nintendo Switch, use it with this monitor. The image looks fantastic--vibrant and sharp. It looks better on it than on my TV. Just one more reason to recommend this monitor.

My Monitor arrived today and it's being returned. I had very noticeable back light bleed and a pixel cluster burned out in the lower right corner. This is unacceptable at a $900 price point for what is the flagship brand. I rated 1 star due to these deal breakers.

I tested this monitor on several games for the few hours that I actually had this monitor hooked up to my PC. I have come to the conclusion that G-sync doesn't save 4k from the excessively low frame rates. I am now convinced more than ever that a 1440p 100hz or higher monitor is the way to go for gaming. 4k is maxed at 60hz and most games won't reach even that. 30 - 45 fps is not worth the visuals.

The games I tested this monitor on are the following:
    X-Com 2
    Rise of the Tomb Raider
    Dying Light
    Fallout 4

Screen tearing was non-existent due to G-sync. That feature of this monitor worked perfectly with my NVIDIA Titan X SC. The first person shooter games were very smooth and even Tomb Raiders 3rd person view was smoother. It's a very nice feature and I feel that G-sync justifies the price premium that we are seeing in G-sync monitors.(expect to pay an extra $200 for a G sync monitor)

Unfortunately, the back light bleed was so bad that even when the game wasn't in the dark, you could see a shimmering-yellow effect in the lower left corner of the screen. This was very distracting. The upper right hand corner was only distracting when the screen had a lot of black on it, for example, a dark cave in the Tomb Raider game, or at night during Dying Light.

The pixel cluster that was burned out in the lower right corner was very noticeable and distracting during bright white moments, but obviously it was drowned out in dark colors. You can see the pixel cluster in the picture attached with the words Privacy Terms Settings. It is above the word "Privacy".

I feel that the manufacturer has a responsibility to ensure that all monitors are visually tested by a human being when they are selling at this price point.

Please note that I have owned the PB287Q which I purchased a year ago. That monitor is a 28 inch 4k monitor that is a TN panel and it does not have G-sync. I was hoping to upgrade to a better quality panel with new features, however, the quality control on this monitor lost the sale.

I ordered the 27" 4K IPS with Gsync technology. The hardware is pretty good quality. I haven't seen any dead pixels and the colors/visuals look amazing. I'm a casual gamer and 4K resolution at 60 Hz with Gsync looks amazing.

The problem with this monitor is the firmware. By default it will enable a "deep sleep" power saving mode. When the computer is powered off the monitor back light remains on. After a long time the monitor appears to be in an error state and flashes many different colors.

I looked on forums online and found that the monitor can be fixed by disabling "deep sleep" for both HDMI/display port. I did this and the monitor actually slept OK.

However, after several days to a week in non-"deep sleep" the monitor somehow loses its settings and "deep sleep" becomes enabled. I've written back and forth to Asus concerning the issue. I stated the problem and exactly what I've done to fix it. Each technical support rep simply replies to my problem with the same scripted "solution" without apparently even reading what I'd written.

The colours look amazing and there is no major backlight bleed either. Definitely ended up being a good buy!

I like the quality of the screen and that the monitor is 4K plus a built-in speaker, but as it is not mentioned on product's title, the monitor has only 24Hz refresh rate, meaning that you can't play any online game unless you want to lose in games over and over. The refresh rate supposed to reach to 60Hz if you make display 1920x1080 but still when I turn on refresh rate counter it shows 50Hz. I did not know about refresh rate when I bought this product, so please don't make same mistake as I did.

This picture was actually taken with the replacement monitor I was sent after complaining about this issue. Needless to say I am sending both monitors back and asking for a full refund.
