From Cyan, the studio that brought you Myst, comes Obduction, an all-new adventure that brings the spirit of Cyan’s earlier games into the new millennium. Obduction resurrects the feeling of finding yourself in the middle of new worlds to explore, discover, solve, and become part of.

As you walk beside the lake on a cloudy night, a curious, organic artifact falls from the sky and inexplicably, without asking permission, transports you across the universe.

The worlds of Obduction reveal their secrets only as you explore, coax, and consider them. And as you bask in the otherworldly beauty and explore through the enigmatic landscapes, remember that the choices you make will have substantial consequences.

Obduction. Make it home.

Problem on Kaptar

Loved Myst, Riven and all sequels for Mac. I have been waiting for years for another similar game, and then months after the initial release of Obduction. I have been enjoying it, although the graphics are a bit disappointing on my 4K display. I couldn’t read the name on the compass on the Mayor’s desk and had to rely on a walk-through gide for help there. Similarly, I have come to Kaptar and had no clue how to get the bridges built. Again, had to turn to a walk-through and learned I am supposed to get some messages from the Mayor but none of these play for me. Hope there is an update soon that will fix this. So as much as I have been looking forward to this, I can’t recommend this since I can’t play through without outside help.

A worthwhile purchase if you love this genre. Loved the game! but still with a few minor bugs.

Read requirements carefully to know what to expect. The game is resource demanding but gorgeous. I played this game on an M1 max macbook pro with 32g of memory, (The M1 max doesn't have a dedicated video card/memory per se). Overall it ran really smoothly...I maxed out the graphics settings on my 4k external monitor and it was a bit choppy....but tweaked down just a couple of levels on graphics and it ran smoothly and still looked reaaalllyy good. The biggest bug that persists is getting stuck in free roam occasionally and not being able to move...the out is to pause, go to settings and switch to point and click movement...move one or two times in the game and then switch back to free roam...
Having to pause the game and go look at photos I've taken is NOT optimal. IT would be nice to have an ingame notebook to peak at so as not to leave the game. The storyline is overall great, voice acting is fair, and puzzles are simple to really challenging so there's something for all levels. The game is full of eye candy if you have the computer power to enjoy it and I frequently just enjoyed the scenery and creativity of the worlds. Thanks Cyan for continuing to bring these games to MAC...Please don't stop...A long time fan of the whole myst series...(the whole series after myst being rebooted to unreal engine would be amazing btw....just sayin!

Good but a little buggy

This is an outstanding puzzle game. Everything you would expect from the people who made the genre famous. It’s well-developed, rich, and has an engaging storyline. Turn out the lights, put it on a large screen, and you are alone in a mysterious world - allowed to roam free and figure out what happened. Plan to lose hours of your life pushing buttons, searching for codes, turning handles, and even firing lasers… Yes, the game has lasers.

BUT…

It is a resource hog. I’m running a brand new Macbook Pro with maxed-out specs and the game is still laggy and prone to crashes (especially when coming out of the tree). I recognize that software like this requires intense computing power - and I’m thankful that I can experience it - but be warned, you need tons of power to make this game work. It would easily be five stars if things moved a little smoother and didn’t crash. Load time wouldn’t bother me if gameplay was more reliable and less prone to crashes.
