About this item
- OUR BIGGEST AND BASSIEST CAJON: its heavy low-end bass can be felt across a room; the Meinl Jumbo Bass Subwoofer Cajon creates serious thump, way more than even our own traditional cajons, but without overstepping volume
- WHY IT MATTERS: deep, rhythmic bass moves people and music more than just about anything else; now you can bring that feeling to quieter acoustic gigs while staying in the range of volume cajons are designed for
- HOW IT WORKS: the jumbo size body has internal bass reflex channels that develop deeper low frequencies, then forward-facing sound ports project that tone toward your audience; it's also equipped with two internal fixed sets of snares for a crisp pop
- OF NOTE: two large front ports are made to fill a venue with extra natural volume, and there is no rear-facing port like most cajons have; instead, there is a recessed carrying handle on the back to pick the cajon up easily
- DRIVING THE SOUND: a responsive walnut playing surface gives you definition and warmth; the body is built with durable modern composite because this material reflects sound instead of absorbing it, so you get a clear tone (plus it's extra sturdy)
- BY THE NUMBERS: the cajon measures 13 1/2" W x 19 3/4" H x 13 1/4" D and weighs 17 lbs; the jumbo shape creates bigger sound but is also comfortable to sit on for longer sets
- THE BOTTOM LINE: you can play it alongside guitars at acoustic shows, with worship music, in the studio, or at outdoor jams; four solid silicone feet keep the cajon stable, avoid scratches, and eliminate crazy vibrations on any surface
- THE BIG PICTURE: Meinl is a family-owned musical instrument manufacturer and brand established 1951 in Germany; our expert German designers have deep relationships with our builders to ensure you're delivered the absolute finest quality

My honest review of this Cajon.
Norma & Steve's Shop
Product Description
The Meinl Jumbo Subwoofer Cajon features a forward projecting sound port in place of the traditional rear facing style and an internal reflex channel. This results in an enhanced bass note projection, particularly desirable for live and unplugged situations. Fixed internal snare wires deliver a crisp and cutting sound that enhances corner slaps and adds a touch of contrast to bass notes. The Jumbo Bass Cajon is designed to project immensely deep bass tones that swell with harder playing and provide slight punches behind soft notes, responding much like a kick drum. Frontplate: walnut (Juglans regia L.)

1. Size and comfort: I am 6’3” and wanted a larger box to sit on. I’ve sat on an average $100 cajon, and though they would hold my 225 lbs. up, the play area felt small for my hands. The jumbo part of this cajon is correct, because it is a pretty big box. It’s comfortable to sit on and provides an adequate area of play for the size of my hands. I definitely recommend this cajon for the big-and-tall musician out there.
2. Sound: I ordered a bass cajon because I wanted that boom, and the cajon delivers. The snares add a good jingle to it but aren’t overwhelming. The output hole is at the bottom of the front, so acoustically sound is going to travel forward and up, so it is going to project well. And this thing can get loud if you’re really banging on it. However, because this is a fiberglass box with a wood face panel, it doesn’t hold the same warmth as an all-wood cajon. But that’s not a negative – just keep in mind it won’t sound the same.
3. Appearance: In short, it looks nice, especially the wood face panel. Because it looks similar to a subwoofer, it’s a more novel cajon. But its darker, more neutral color doesn’t stand out and isn’t flashy, and I like that. It allows the sound to shine all the more.
Sounds great, looks great!
My one complaint: One of the top corner screws was driven in at an angle, so you can't loosen one of the top corners without a jagged screw head sticking up. The edge is at a 45 degree angle. So I only have it loosened a quarter turn to save my fingers. That means my corners have VASTLY DIFFERENT SOUNDS. I will probably end up having to remove screw entirely, which I hate to do. But slapping your hands against a jagged surface for an hour or two is pretty close to a nightmare.
Reached out to support and I did finally hear back from meinlusa on the cajon. It just takes a little time to hear back from them. They will be replacing the front plate. Now my son will be able to get back to what he loves to do. Play the cajon! Thank you meinlusa!
If you do have to do a warrantee replacement, make sure to contact support through the Amazon chat with the seller, not the default warrantee link. Will save you a lot of time and frustration.
