So dope!

First of all, the narration was fantastic! All of the different accents and characters came through prefectly. The story kept me hooked! I had it all wrong too. Lol But it made sense once the big moment was revealed. Great story! I want to read /listen to another one.

This series is pretty darn good!

I’m really kinda liking this series. It’s not really a great romance but it is action packed and has some very complicated characters. There are lots of secrets, in this group of characters and they will likely be answered slowly, as each character has their own story.

I will give you fair warning that everything doesn’t always work out, in this series. There are tragedies, heartbreak and not every character gets a HEA. In addition, this group of characters are almost all emotionally scarred and, “learning to live despite their damaged soul,” tends to be a common theme, in these books.

As I eluded to before, the storylines of these books doesn’t really center around romance, it’s like romance is a side note to the real plot.
These characters are mercenaries and assassins and the books center around their missions and , therefore, this is a romance series that men would even enjoy.
This book/series is definitely credit worthy, in my opinion. However, if intense violence bothers you, choose a different series.

Great love story

This has some major surprises & losses, keeps you on the edge. There’s still the secret of Max & Noelle to come with lots of teasers. The love scenes didn’t seem quiet as hot as the others, but I maybe wrong, it was still hot & exciting. Terrific narration by Ms Ryan.

Special Ops Romance back on track

Izzie and Trevors story much better. The connection was started in book 1 and comes to light in this story. Elle did a good job peaking your interest and coming through with their romance in this tale. The story it could have been a little more edging. And towards the middle Izzie does seem to lose some of her sassy. Which is what makes her an interesting character. It good to see Trevor put his alpha big boy pants on again. The overall story was soft in places but entertaining thus the rating. And again Elle does a good job of preparing the back story of some of the characters you want to hear more about. So yes I will be downloading book 4. Not the best special ops romance but entertaining enough if you have a credit. And Allyson is improving with her narration.

One of my favorites of the series

Midnight Games is the third book in the Killer Instinct series. Each book follows a different couple and there’s definitely a story arc for each book that is completely satisfying – however, there are story lines that cover several books and weave through the series so you’ll want to be sure to read/listen in order, starting with Midnight Rescue.

Yes! Ever since Isabel & Trevor were introduced in book 1, I have been looking forward to this couple’s story. Kennedy does a great job of keeping us interested in their progression during Luke’s book, Midnight Alias – and I absolutely think they both needed that time. Midnight Games is one of my favorites of the series – not just because of the main couple, but the continued building of back stories for the secondary characters and the action/suspense element.

This book starts with several surprises, a missing team member, and someone completely unexpected taking control. Meanwhile, Trevor is trying to break through Isabel’s high emotional walls, respect her expertise and capability as an operative, and working to discover who the mysterious foe is.

While the biggest tension is between Jim & Noelle, I’m completely on board with the next book being about the sniping Ethan & Juliet in Midnight Pursuits.

Allyson Ryan is solid in narrating this whole series. I love her performance and can’t say enough good things about it. She keeps voices, accents, & mannerisms consistent throughout and it’s absolutely binge worthy.

Good Listen

This was a pretty good listen. However, I'm beginning to see a similar comparison in every main male character. They all seem to have "Whiskey Colored Eyes". Funny!

Drowned in baggage

After a thrilling opening, the rest of this book was a long slog on both the thriller and romance ends.
The team members who got their HEAs in the prior books (Abby, Kane and Luke) are barely a factor. Instead, the main players in this installment are the emotionally unavailable ones: Noelle, D, Morgan, and Isabelle. These four are needlessly (and endlessly) jerks and cryptic to the point of stupidity. I was very frustrated that so many supposedly smart operators put personal grudges ahead of the mission.

Trevor at least is open to new romance. Unfortunately, he spends the entire book working to overcome Isabelle’s hangups, which are many. I liked Isabelle in the prior books, but here I couldn’t stand how weak she was; she lets everyone from her dad to her boss gaslight her and ridiculously blames herself for every bad thing that’s ever happened in her life. There’s so much baggage that it killed all the steam.

The thriller side was equally dull and equally frustrating. There didn’t seem to be much use of the team’s skills beyond Isabelle donning a femme fe tale disguise and overhearing discussions. Furthermore, this featured one of those plots that relies on overly elaborate plans found only in Bond movies.

Frankly, I was so disappointed by the jerk behavior of Noelle, D, and Morgan that I would have
stopped the series here, except that I already bought the series during a site wide sale.
