    TLDR: I have this on a faucet that is directly connected to my well. It does not seem to be doing anything.Here's the background.Our water supply is from our well. Lots of sediments in the water and the water is extremely hard. The water is GREAT for plants and probably humans as well. But the hard water plays havoc on the appliances, bathroom fittings, sinks, pipes etc. and washing clothes is a nightmare. You have to use a lot of softener.Installed a salt based water softening system. This works great but the taste isnt great. And plants dislike this water and so does the dog. Yes, the fussy dog wont drink the water! So we installed an RO system under the kitchen sink for drinking water. The water is FANTASTIC! The wife then started eating my head about getting untreated water for her from the basement so she could water the potted plants on the main level - especially in the winter. I decided the best solution was to disconnect the butler's pantry sink faucet from the softened water and connect it directly to the well water. I connected this filter to the butlers pantry sink faucet. Why? because the water from the well is always cold. Its a nice refreshing cold and I love to drink this water but dont because of the sediments. I figured the filter would remove the sediments and any harmful elements from the water.And this is where the mystery begins. Installing this thing was a breeze. It helps to read the instructions (which I did not) because you may save time by not having to test all the adapters. Oh yes - it comes with adapters that fit various sizes of faucets. I think it might even fit my bathroom vanity faucet which is an odd shape (but no use here as the water is softened at this outlet). But you might have that weird faucet that this wont fit - so be prepared. Suffice to say one of the adapters worked for my faucet.I ran the water for 5 minutes through the filter as per the instructions. I collected the water and found that it was not cloudy and i did not see any carbon particles either. Tasted the water and it was cold but tasted different. Not bad but not great like the RO water. Nowhere near as great as the RO water. So I decided the use my TDS Meter Digital Water tester and the attached pictures are the results.1) Unfiltered water - PPM 2142) Water from the PUR filter - PPM 222 (?!?!?)3) Water from the RO with inline mineralization capsule - PPM 39.Color me confused. Maybe someone can respond and shed some light on what is happening here. I have no idea why the PPM in the filtered water is greater that the unfiltered water. I dont expect the filter to soften the water. I dont want it to soften the water. I expected some reduction in the PPM but I definitely did not expect the count to go up. I performed the test again and the results were the same. So what gives?Three stars because I dont want to dis a product without understanding what it is doing. I have not done a chemical analysis of the water to know exactly what is happening. It is probably doing its thing.

    So I owned the horizontal one for many years, I’ve lost count. The filter light burned out a long time ago.
    I was considering a new one and saw this vertical model.
    I got it today and popped it on easily and I love it! The vertical design is much less “in the way” compared to the horizontal one. It also turns easily on the faucet and the best part is the two white buttons on the side that you squeeze and it simply pops off. This will come in so handy when I’m doing a lot of dishes to keep it out of the way.

    I really love this vertical design as it SOO easy to work around and pop it off to do dishes, as I hand wash my dishes.
    The other thing I noticed when I took my old horizontal version off was how much sediment was in the screen. That’s really good that it was catching all of that but it also slowed down the water flow. With the vertical version you can rinse that out so easily when you take it off the faucet.

    I have been using PUR faucet mount filters for more than twenty years. I have worked for one of the largest water companies in world for thirty years. The company supplies water to more than twenty million people, and constantly wins national and international awards for quality, purity, and taste. According to the water quality and efficacy tests conducted by PHD’s that work there (I am not one of them), PUR units are effective. These people also test sprinklers, toilets, showerheads and much more for water use conservation and validation of corporate claims. These tests are independent with no corporate sponsorship. Water distillation and reverse osmosis (R.O.) are much more effective (and much more expensive, initially) than PUR.

    R.O. systems cost $200-$500; and unless your good with pluming - installation will set you back at least a few hundred dollars; you lose half a day’s pay spending quality time with a plumber, and your counter top gets a hole drilled in it for the second faucet; all in figure $500-$700. R.O. units need a lot of cabinet storage space, and do require some routine maintenance.

    Distillation units cost $140-$300, require no installation, consume some counter or cabinet space, require routine maintenance demineralizing the boiling chamber, require constant refilling with water, consume copious amounts of electricity (PUR and R.O. use none) adding to operating cost and contributing to global warming (as long as you believe thousand of PHD’s that opine G.W. is an issue), and they have limited capacity (usually just a few cups, then refill, press the button, and wait). Distillation units last 5-15 years so over $20 years will cost $450-$600. Distilled water has no taste (which most people find displeasing), unless the water goes through a post boil mineral infusion pod that needs to be replaced.

    PUR filter heads require no counter space or cabinet space and cost $35 each so over 20 years will cost $400-$600. This does not account for inflation on replacement filter head cost or filter costs for all three, which should be about the same for PUR and R.O., less for distilled. Over 20 years PUR systems will produce significantly more plastic waste than R.O or distillation systems for landfills, lakes, rivers and oceans.

    PUR and R.O. filter water tastes good; they both really eliminate any chlorine taste, and have mineral infusion in the filters. PUR head units are easy to install as is replacing the filters and they do not require any routine maintenance beyond filters. R.O. units typically require clearing out most of the stuff under the sink to change the filters, PUR units are relatively inexpensive, but are cheaply built. PUR filters only last a few months, and the head unit usually fails (leaks) after 2-3 years, or develops mineralization around the connecting seal. Mineralization eats the finish and it looks really tacky. Teflon plumbers tape works for a while on the leaks, but there is no fix for a finish that is gone. It is cheaper and much less frustrating to buy a new PUR unit from an on-line retailer delivered to your door) rather than spending half a day looking for the receipt, finding and filling out the paper work, getting an RMA, boxing it, find or buying a box, and going to the post office.

    Overall cost over 20 years is about equal for all three. Installation is easiest with distillation and PUR. If you are concerned with the environment, PUR is not for you, second choice would be R.O., and first distillation. Pick your poison, they all work, are generally cost neutral, and they all have issues.

    Bought this filter a couple days ago. Water does taste much better. As I've seen in other reviews of this filter, the pressure in filter mode is cut in half. Not really a big deal for me but it does require a little patience. I'm hoping it actually does remove chemicals and particles as promised. The installation is unbelievably easy just 20 seconds and done. Please note, the faucet aerator must be removed. Some faucets have an aerator inside the spout that are permanent (not removable). I had to replace my entire faucet to get a removable aerator. No problem, I needed a new one anyway. I would recommend this filter to anyone. Quality product and a great price.

    Recently watched a report of all the harmful chemicals that can be in ones tap water, and since getting bottled water can really add up, plus can be very wasteful, this faucet filter is very convenient and easy to use and install. Each filter lasts about 3 months, so I bought a pack of 6, for about 60$ which means I should be good for about 18 months. I read all the chemicals and minerals it filters out, adding to about 70, which must have some positive effect. I use this for myself and my dogs water and I feel much better knowing that at least some stuff is being filtered out and making the water a bit safter to drink. Highly recommend
