I've had multiple Canon DSLRs and lenses.(mostly disappointing)
Without a doubt this lens with the Panasonic G9 produces some of the best photos out of the camera without a flash.
It's not cheap - but well worth it
I'm sorry to report that Mr. Wong is correct. He liked this lens, and so do I. It's contrasty and needle sharp in the center. It's beautifully assembled and small for what it is. But if you need really sharp corners, look elsewhere. Before things devolve into "you got a bad copy" I don't think so. Center sharpness is fabulous and all 4 corners are equally un-fabulous until you stop down. At f/4 this is an outstanding wide angle but since it's a 1.4 lens, that's pretty dissapointing.
If you must have a fast wide angle for very low light, shallow depth of field, or if your subject matter is mostly in the center, this is a lovely lens. it also makes beautiful star effects when stopped down. But wide open, it behaves like an old 50mm 1.2 lens from back in the day, when 400 ASA (ISO) was fast and any light was better than none. Unfortunately, on a m43 camera, a lens has to be spectacular to get the most from the small sensor.
I purchase this lens through Amazon, and it was fulfilled through Amazon. However, the lens that I received was already opened and items were packed differently than a new lens. Since I had ordered an new item, I promptly returned it. I do plan to get a replacement, but at this time they are backordered, so I will be waiting.
So is it a must have? It's a nice to have, and certainly a top pick if you are very critical and have the money to spare.

Out of all my lenses this is by far the worse at auto focusing. I know the wider field of view makes it harder because there are so many things in the frame to focus on but it's just unusable. It also looks worse than other lenses when "hunting" for the subject.
I've used it for two photo shoots so far. When the model is back lit their hair looks purple from the chromatic aberration. It does the same thing when shooting video.
The build quality is great and the design matches perfectly with the GH5. I love having the aperature dial on the lens, although it does get moved by accident on occasion.
If You're like me and want that 24mm look and low light capability than you don't have many options. Overall this lens is good. It should be priced around the $800 range. The product was advertised as new but it was not. The box was in terrible condition and all scratched up. Everything had already been opened (buy from another seller if possible).
Good job
