  • Super-flat design. Fully submersible, modern design for energy efficient Aquarium and terrarium heating. Includes reversible holster/bracket, which allows heater to face inward or outward. See the product images to determine the best neo-therm size for your tank.
  • Accurate, one-touch system. Simply set temperature between 66-96°f with one touch and the neo-therm electronic thermostat will maintain Tank temperature within +0.5°F. Led displays both set temp and actual temp, simultaneously.
  • Ultimate safety and reliability. Integrated thermal protection circuitry prevents heater from overheating. If you forget to turn it off, the neo-therm will automatically shut it down.
  • Virtually indestructible. Unlike cheap, glass heaters, the neo-therm is a resin/thermoplastic heater with a shatterproof outer-casing. Made in Poland and includes a 3-year warranty.
  • Manufacturer You can trust. Most manufacturers rate their heaters on the ability to raise an aquarium 2-3°f above ambient temperatures. This is unreliable and misleading, as the average home fluctuates 2-3°f or more throughout the day. Cobalt rates The neo-therm on the ability to raise a tank 11°f above ambient temperatures, so you will never have to worry about overworking the neo-therm or it keeping up!

Cobalt aquarium heaters are great and so durable. I used a smaller cobalt model until we recently upgraded my betta’s 1.5 gallon bowl to a 6.5 gallon tank and purchased this one. The heater itself is not quite as long as my hand and is pretty thin/flat/low profile. It plugs into a regular wall plug and attaches underwater to the inside of the tank with a suction cup. I hid it in the back behind some plants and a castle ornament and now you can’t even see it unless you’re looking for it. I moved some of the decor out of the way for the photo- you can see its circle dial and the top of the heater unit on the right. The black box in ththe middle is my filter. The heater unit is made of one piece and is kind of like heavy duty black plastic. I can’t see this ever breaking like a glass heater could. The thermostat can be set in 2 degree increments anywhere from 70-90 degrees. It also has a thermometer on the same dial as the thermostat which tells you if the water temp is colder, hotter, or the same temp you set it at. There is a single button on the top used to change the temperature setting in even 2 degree increments. It keeps my betta’s tank at 78 degrees no problem. It lights up to tell you when it’s heating and what the current temp is. I have another thermometer in the betta’s tank which I checked obsessively the first few weeks to make sure this heater was functioning properly. It always is. Now I’ve almost forgotten its there because it just works! It has a 3 year warrenty and it’s great that the company stands behind its products for that long. I am going to replace the unreliable glass heater in my 75 gallon tank with a larger model cobalt heater soon because I like them that much.

After carefully researching several different aquarium heaters, I decided on this one. My criteria were:

1. It must be adjustable to a specific temperature (rather than preset to a single temperature).
2. It must shut off when it reaches the set temperature (rather than be always on, like many aquarium heaters).
3. It must be reasonably accurate and consistent.

I got all of this and more. During a month of use, the heater has kept the temperature exactly where I set it. The internal thermostat is spot on. In addition, this heater tells you both the set temperature and the actual temperature of the water, if they are different.

The design of this heater is very flat and slim: it doesn't stick out much from the back of the tank. However, the 50-watt size is wider than the equivalent round heater. It is about 2" wide and 6.25" tall.

Note that this heater must be placed vertically, and cannot be in contact with any rocks or other tank decor. If you're looking for a heater that can be placed horizontally or under substrate, this one won't work for you.

I am using this heater in a 6-gallon tank. It's a little overpowered for that size of aquarium, but I went with the higher wattage so that I wouldn't risk overburdening the 25-watt model. If you've got a 1- to 5-gallon tank, then you can probably go with the 25-watt heater, which will be smaller.

In my dream universe, this heater would be tiny, and I would be able to hide it under the substrate. It takes up a lot of visual space in my jellyfish tank. That said, I'm so happy with how it works that I wouldn't trade it for another model.

About two years ago I purchased this Neo-Therm 50 watt heater. It is incredibly easy to use - just press a button to select the temperature you want and two LEDs show the setting and current temp. Totally waterproof, and "set and forget" accurate. Well, set and forget until two years later when something went wrong and the temperature started to rise. I pulled out heater and the button was unresponsive. I unplugged, waited a bit and plugged back in, as others suggested. All seemed OK until a couple days later when the temp started to rise again. I took it out, put in my back up heater and looked up the warranty.

The warranty was for 3 years, so I went online and entered my info, asking for help. Within an hour I had a friendly response back, saying they could help and asked for a picture of the heater and the receipt. I sent them in and almost as quickly, received another friendly response saying they would handle it from there. THE VERY SAME day I get notification that the replacement was shipped, along with another nice note saying how much they appreciate my business and "the least they can do is stand by their products." Wow - how often does that happen?

Bottom line - high quality and easy to use product and you won't be left stranded if there's a problem. These guys have a customer service down pat and me a customer for life!

Very slim and discreet, dissappears against the background of the tank. Easy to install. I found the suction cups fell off easily from the heater itself. so added a a blob of plant glue to them and now they stay on.
