This is a great back pack!
    5 Stars
This is a great back pack!
I am a professional photographer, and I needed a professional back pack. I mostly freelance sporting events for the local paper, so I needed something that would hold all of my gear, and yet allow me to move easily through crowds. Let me tell you, this bag exceeded my expectations. First of all, for my gear....I can fit 2 full size camera bodies with grips (Nikon D750, D850 with Spider Holster clips) , a Nikon 300mm super prime f/2.8, a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom, a Tamron 24-70mm 2.8, a Nikon 60mm f/2.8 prime and my spider Holster in just the main part of the bag. In all of the pouches I can keep my spare batteries, extra cards, lens cleaners and other odds and ends. It will hold my 15" MacBook Pro as well as paperwork. It also has pockets for my business cards and my press pass. The other feature that I like is the access door on top of the bag. Open that up, and there is a little zipper pouch, which I like to keep snack bars in, in case I have time for something to eat. On the outside, I can keep cleaning equipment and notebooks and pencils in the little pouch that is provided. I am also able to strap on either a monopod for my 300mm prime or a tripod if I need to use one of those.I have a lot of options to attach other bags and such to all of the handy straps on the bag. Your only limitation is how much that you can lift and how far that you have to go. Speaking of going, I have had to maneuver my way through volleyball tournaments, crowded gyms and football stadiums. This bag makes doing those things very easy. It is so nice to get to an event fight through the crowds, open your bag and find all of your gear ready to go. Oh, by the way, having to take the pack off to get to your gear is a plus for security reasons. I would also like to mention the great customer service that I received from LowPro. When I received the bag from Amazon, it was missing one half of one of the straps used for strapping on a tripod. Of course, Amazon wanted me to send back the whole bag, and the seller did not respond to my email. So, I contacted LowPro directly. They were awesome! I like LowPro anyway ( I own several of their bags), but the fact that they got right back to me and corrected the situation, makes me like the company even more. Thank you LowPro! So, if you are looking for a back pack that will hold your gear, this is the pack that will work for you. If you are just starting out (I started out with the gripped D750, the 24-70 and the 70-200) this will give you room to grow. I own several bags of different shapes and sizes, but this is the one that I use the most. I highly recommend this bag. I have been using it for over a year now, and it has not failed me once. Good luck. I hope this review helped.**UPDATE** March 11, 2020 I have had this bag for over two years now, and it is still my most favorite bag. All the zippers are still working great, and the outside of the bag, it still looks great. I have used this bag for all sorts of shoots, and it hasn't failed me yet. Plus, I can't believe how much it holds. I can rearrange the bag in just a few minutes to just carry one camera body, and several lenses, or a few lenses and some flashes, etc., etc. It is a very versatile bag. I have purchased other bags for specific shoots or jobs, but I always come back to my LowPro Pro Tactic 450 AW. I would still give this bag five stars. The only limits on this bag, is how much you can carry. I have also bought bags that attach to the outside of the bag to hold water bottles. So, if you are serious about getting your gear from one point to another (and you have a lot of gear), I still would highly recommend this bag. It will last you a while, mine has.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, super great customer service followup
Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2018
I received this product after buying and trying out some of the alternative packs, including the Vanguard Alta Sky 51D Backpack for Sony, Nikon, Canon, DSLR, Drones, and the Vanguard Alta Sky 45D Backpack for Sony, Nikon, Canon, DSLR, Drones. What I was looking for was a backpack that could carry my camera and lenses, but also carry a variety of accessories including my OSMO2 iphone gimble and a Mavic 2 zoom.

I actually bought both of the Vanguards first. I LOVED their shoulder and waist harness systems. Super comfortable and supportive of the gear. But their interior volumes and configurable features just weren’t what I was looking for. One was too small, the other way too big. Also, they didn’t have the FREAKING AWESOME cameral body access options this pack has. More on that later. I have used those access points on the Lowe almost exclusively (the side access panels) and I LOVE that.

The Lowe happens to be the first pack I eyed...but then I saw the Vanguards....tried them and came back to the Lowe. I’m glad I did. Here’s why:

First, it’s super functional. With access all over the bag, you can get your gear in virutally any way.
The volume is tremendous as is the flexibility. It’s not quite big enough for EVERYTHING I’d like to carry. But TBH, if it was, the thing would be WAY too heavy.
I love that it stands on its own, vertically, instead of falling over when fully loaded
I love that I can get my camera body with a 300mm zoom lens in the bag and still get it out quickly to shoot something, even with the bag on my back/shoulder. I can even carry my MacBook Pro and my terabyte drive in it.
I love that I can fit all four of my lenses, batteries, manuals, my computer, notebooks filters and still have room for my drone. That’s just awesome. Although I don’t think I can fit all my drone accessories in there. We’ll see.
But what is really cool and what puts this pack above all the others are the “molly” type webbing all around the bag. This adds a level of external modularity the others just couldn’t match. As a former Marine, I am familiar with this modular system and thought it was a brilliant add.

The bag came with a little accessory pouch that had a bottle holder, tripod foot holder, and external soft case all compatible with the molly webbing. Along with these accessories, came these two straps for strapping on and securing a tripod or other equipment. These straps I thought were essential. But only two wasn’t enough IMO. I did a little research and found them on the Lowe website, but they are perpetually sold out. When I emailed the company to see when they might restock them, they said they’re now only sold with the entire accessory kit. I told them I didn’t need additional pouches, I only wanted two more straps.

    Guess what?

The service agent sent me two more straps by themselves at no charge. Now THAT’s customer service!

    Some down sides:
Fully loaded, the bag is heavy. Empty it’s heavy. So the average American is probably going to find that they can’t max the functionality because they can’t hump the bag fully loaded.

The support system (straps and hip belt) could use signigicant re-engineering. If they (Lowe) would look at Vanguard’s system and emulate that, this would be the perfect pack. It can carry so much, but the support system is not up to the task of transferring the load where the body can best accomodate it.

Build quality so far is great. Especially compared to the cheap as crap Amazon Basics Lens pouches I’ll be writing a review about. So far there are no frays, or seam failures anywhere.

I love the extended pulls on all the zippers as well as the duplicated zippers on main access panels making it easy to get at gear even with gloves on.

I cannot overemphasize how much I love the side panel access points. They are awesome, especially when out and about. Being able to reach the body without taking off the pack is just awesome.

So I’m greatly satisfied with my purchase. I dropped one star on versatility because you can’t get more straps. I dinged material quality one star because the hard shell on the top of the bag (or maybe the seams sewn around it) is distorted, making the zippered closure hard to close sometimes.

5.0 out of 5 stars The chest and waist straps are what makes this bag very comfortable when walking around fully loaded
Reviewed in Canada on December 30, 2017
I was looking for an upgrade from the LowePro Nova 200 AW and this bag was exactly what I needed. The bag arrived on the scheduled day. Be prepared for the box to be quite large. Bag was shipped in plastic to keep it clean.

Inside the bag, you will find that there is more than enough room. With some arranging, I'm able to fit a Dji Mavic Pro, 2 extra batteries, the controller, a D7000 with battery pack and a 50mm lens attached, a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm attached, a Yashica A medium format camera, a Nikon SB700 flash, a 28mm lens, 135mm lens, 80-210mm lens for my film camera and a 35mm lens and 18-105mm lens for my Nikon D7000 and a hotshoe LED light all sit in the main compartment. In the pockets inside, I have the charger and extra battery for the Nikon D7000 and some lens filters. There is a laptop compartment located inside as well for a 15" laptop. There's enough room to hold it all. Grabbing what you need the quickest is made convenient by placing them near the quick access zippers on the inside.

Every photographer that has too much gear for their current bag, this bag will suit your needs. It has enough room and is well protected to secure it inside. The bag comes with enough dividers for endless customization to sort your gear. When fully loaded prepare for it to be heavy. The chest and waist straps are what makes this bag very comfortable when walking around fully loaded. The weight isn't noticeable and you'll thank your shoulders for not using a messenger bag. The padding on the back is also super comfortable and soft.

The addition of a raincoat to cover the bag for unpleasant weather is wonderful and located at the bottom. The access points (one at the top and 2 at the side) are easy to get too but for travelling in large crowds (such as on trains or standing on the bus) I recommend putting on a few small locks on the double zippers, just to keep thieving hands away. It can be opened and closed within seconds before you notice it so best to keep the zippers locked. The modular accessories which you can clip to the front are unique with endless options, such as hooking a tripod to the back or a water bottle for long commutes in the wilderness. Again I wouldn't recommend for use in large crowds just for security purposes.

Overall the bag solves the problem of not being able to carry all your gear by being so big that it carries it all and then some. The interior design is well thought out and roomy, the outer design is discrete with add on options, the raincoat is functional and smart, and the straps and padding add a luxury support and comfort.

I would highly recommend this to anyone out there as this bag will be the last bag you ever need.

    - If you are looking for that one backpack which can fit your camera gear, drone, GoPro, gimbal and all other accessories this is it LOWEPRO PROTACTIC AW450
    - The quality of backpack is topclass feels like a military grade and for that quality it will last for years.
    - If you have a single camera or minimal gear then go for AW 350 it will be sufficient.
    - It can even fit clothes for a day trip.
    - Finally what I can tell is other than buying new version 450 AW-II it's better to stick to the older version for less price same features.
