I shopped around quite a bit when I stumbled upon Pet Control HQ. The two collar wireless pet fence system fit my needs perfectly. The collar gives my dogs a beep to warn them and if they get too adventurous it delivers a mild shock that keeps them from wandering too far. Instillation was easy and straightforward. The remote is a nice bonus that comes in handy when we go explore together. I recommend this to anyone who is concerned with their dogs safety.
I DO NOT Recommend this item if you have a large area, a extra large dog or electrical and power lines on the property.
They get the one star because they did try to fix the issue and their customer service people were polite.
A little background: We used to use a cable tie with a run connected to two trees in our large backyard. I was hesitant to switch to an invisible fence because I did not trust our 10-year-old goldendoodle (65 pounds) to stop running after crossing the shock threshold, and we are on a tight budget so I was convinced we couldn't afford a wire system. However, once we added our one-year-old labradoodle (70 pounds), the cable ties were no longer an option. We tried, but it was impossible to keep them from getting tangled, not to mention that you're taking your life into your hands if you attempt to walk or do anything in the backyard. So, my husband finally found this system that can manage multiple collars, is very affordable (especially for what you get!) AND has a remote so that our girl could learn that she cannot stay outside the boundary and had to come back into the yard, as opposed to receiving one shock at the boundary without a remote to continue the message.
Set-up was very easy and the manual was very helpful. We ran about 400 feet of wire, so the spool that was included was plenty and left us extra for the two times it needed to be spliced because we were lazy and didn't bury it right away before mowing the lawn... ha! Luckily the system comes with some underground grade splicing housing so we could fix it right away and then proceeded to bury the line. We found that the resistor is very helpful to reduce the threshold space, to maximize the space in our backyard and eliminate interference from other parts of the line. During one of the splicing incidents, we lost the resistor, but I contacted the company (in Australia) and they were very responsive and friendly. We made sure that when we set-up our boundary that it included the entirety of the house as well, with enough space to where the wire is so that the collars do not go off in the house. This has also worked to teach them that they cannot run out the front door either! The only place in the house that the collars are triggered is in the corner of my office, which is directly above the spot in the basement where the control box completes the wire loop. I just make sure that their collars are off when they're sleeping under my desk.
On to how the pups are doing! This system thought of pretty much everything! Training was very easy and our dogs picked it up in no time. Our senior girl did become a little fearful (not usually her personality), but it went away after two 10-minute sessions. Our puppy learned in one quick session! The system first audibly beeps, then vibrates and finally shocks if they continue do not move away from the boundary. There are 10 shock levels, but we've never had to go above 4 (well except once we when went to 7 - there was a squirrel involved, haha!). We've pretty much only used the beep on the remote to train for jumping/barking/mouthiness. When barking gets too out of control, we may have to use the vibration, but have never had to use the shock. Both our dogs love to play in the water, so I love that these units are water-proof and come with rubber pieces attached that plug into the charging port to keep water out. I had a heck of a time getting them in, so I just left them and we have not had any problems with them. The puppy plays in the sprinkler non-stop, but we have not tested the units in a pool. Our girl did run past the threshold a total of one time, chasing a rabbit. I was able to use the remote to continually shock her (rather than receiving just the one as she crossed the line for systems without remotes) until she returned to the yard. She did not show any signs of fear or pain and has not done it since, even when I haven't put the collars on. We have also used the remote to control jumping, barking and puppy mouthiness when he was in his teething stage. It has been AMAZING.
The collars themselves are tolerated extremely well by both our pups. We try to take them off when they are inside, but they are in and out allll day long (we both work from home) and so sometimes they're on inside. I also marked the collars so I wouldn't have to fit each squirming dog every time I tried to put them on (orange collar = black sharpie, black collar = silver paint marker). The collars will last more than a day, but I just make a habit of charging them every night when we go to bed so I don't forget. The remote lasts for days!
We have not yet, but we plan to take the collars with us hiking soon so that we can train them not to charge other dogs. If you do this, just be sure to take the collars off as you leave the house (if you have not set up a dead zone at your door).
The only two things I would change are:
1. Make the water-resistant rubber plugs actually fit in the charging ports (maybe I'm missing something?).
2. Somehow make it harder to not shock the wrong dog by accident from the remote (color coding maybe?). :( We felt SO badly that day. The puppy ran out of the yard to greet a neighbor and we were continuously shocking him to return to the yard. When he didn't respond to it, we looked and our poor girl was in the yard looking around very confused, as it turned out we were actually shocking her. It did set her training back for a day or two, but everyone got over it and we have been extra careful about making sure we're on the right settings. Not that we were careless before.

Overall, this product is very impressive. It has been very reliable, simple to install and operate, it has great battery life ad has so far absorbed everything from wet conditions, including snow and other dogs biting at her collar without any failures.
I highly recommend this tool for not only training purposes and containment where there is no physical fence but also on an ongoing basis.
I had a petsafe containment collar but wanted one that did both containment and training very happy.
The only thing disappointed me was the beep sound is not loud enough.
