Aside from a clean bum, buying toilet paper may not seem like a choice that can make a great impact. But together our choices add up, ¬and we can make a difference by using 100% recycled paper* bath tissue. If every household in the U.S. replaced one 12-pack of 240-sheet virgin fiber bathroom tissue with this product, we could help save over 2,400,000 trees**. Pretty remarkable, right?

I got this at a terrific price, though typically Seventh Generation is pricier. So, I'm likely feeling a bit generous since I did get a good deal here.
How does the bathroom tissue hold up?
I'd consider it a mid-range bathroom tissue. It's obviously better for the environment, but in terms of performance I find it a bit lacking in terms of softness. It's a bit better in absorbency, but I still find it more mid-range and definitely not one of the most absorbent products on the market. I was honestly surprised how quickly I went through a roll, though I will note that typically the tissue sheets did stay together and the actual integrity of the sheets was pretty solid.
I did not notice any type of fragrance and I didn't have any adverse reactions to the tissue despite having sensitive skin myself. So, that's a plus.
Overall, I'd put Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue at a slightly above average rating. It's a good bathroom tissue that is better for the environment than most other bathroom tissue options. I think the balance of being a good tissue that's good for environment makes it worthy of consideration, but for those who really prefer softer bathroom tissue or who need higher absorbency this is likely not the best option. I will likely purchase it again, though I'll also likely hold off for when it's on sale. This won't make my regular rotation of products, however, I would purchase again.
For example, the first 'green' change I made about 20 years ago was moving away from big-name toothpaste. I used to use the Colgates and Crests of the world, and at first the non-mainstream toothpaste (it may have been Tom's, in their earlier days) seemed strange to me. But after a while, using the familiar mainstream stuff was like brushing my teeth with cake icing. Grotesque. I didn't need all the chemicals they pumped their products full of, and I was happier after the change.
Same with this TP. If you're jumping to this straight from some kind of thick, ultra-plush, perfumed big-corporate brand, you're going to be surprised - you'll probably think this seems fairly thin and unsubstantial. But once you use it for a while, the old stuff will start to seem like a crazy, wasteful choice. You'll wonder why you needed that much material - wasteful, and irresponsibly sourced - for the most mundane task there is. And at that point, you'll have freed yourself from having your expectations set by wasteful corporate excess. You'll realize that you don't need all of that extra waste for a simple task.
This TP works great, and does everything my family needs it to do. And this packaging is a very good value - much better than buying the plastic-wrapped multi-packs in the stores (those rolls are smaller and cost more) or buying these same individual rolls that way.
What you'll receive is a large cardboard box filled with stacks of individually paper-wrapped rolls. That means that every single bit of what you receive is biodegradable and recyclable. Recycle the paper wrapping, use the paper, recycle the roll, recycle the box. And just like that, you've gone through a multi-month supply of TP without any plastic, toxic waste. Find a little space in your storage room for the box, and "going to the store to get more TP" will mean going to your basement. Convenient, responsible, and a good product.
Top reviews from other countries
1. It feels soft. I recall when we first started using it that it felt different from other brands, but I can't even remember what the difference was.
2. It is strong. Other brands I have used fall apart as you are using them, which makes you use even more. This one has never fallen apart; no bad surprises, even when using just two squares.
3. It lasts a lot longer than others. Once you get used to how strong it is, you will find yourself using less. On top of that, each roll has nearly twice the number of sheets as other so-called "double rolls". When you put those two together, I figure these rolls last 2-4 times longer than other brands. We have a big family, and my best estimate is that these are lasting about 3x longer per roll than any other brand. If I divide the price by three, then the cost is about the same as other brands.
4. It is 100% recycled, which makes your conscience feel good.
5. It does not cause any problems in the sewer pipes. Our house is old and has small-ish pipes. We were having troubles with the pipes becoming clogged every couple of months. I wondered if using these would help, and so far we have not had any problems.
So overall, yes it is expensive, but I recommend these and will keep using them in our home.
