Detailed Experience:
My review is based on the Romer-G tactile version of the G513.
I have been in search of an alternative to the traditional Cherry MX mechanical keys. I thought I found it with the Razer Ornata. I loved the shorter travel distance, the satisfying click and thud of key presses. The problem with that keyboard was having to use Razer software. After a one particular firmware update they bricked my keyboard and they couldn't fix it because the model version was too old/out of warranty. So I had to scarp it.
I replaced my Ornata with the G513. Out of the box you will instantly notice the build quality is amazing. Brushed aluminum body, strong, no wobble and very heavy. Also an unnecessarily thick braided cable. Then comes Logitech's Romer-G keys. It took me about 3 weeks to get used to the keys. I love the short travel distance. But there is no satisfying click at the point of actuation. Bottoming out feels better than with Cherry MX keys and the spring back is faster. But I found Razer's Mecha-Membrane switch to just feel better to press. If the Romer G tactile switch had a more noticeable click this keyboard would be perfect.
Another important factor to mention is it took me 2 weeks to break this keyboard in. The keys as very stiff out the box. As you use this keyboard the key presses become more smooth and responsive. Once you've broken the keys in typing will become much easier because the keys will spring back up quicker, allowing you to be able to type faster. So don't judge the feel of the Romer-G keys from your experience right out the box.
But the best thing about this keyboard is Logitech's software. Easy to you and the keyboard has on-board memory so you don't have to constantly have it running in the background and during startup.
The weight is good, and in combo with the rubber feet the keyboard stays put. This is saying something because I can sometimes be a very energetic typer.
Unlike another Logitech keyboard I was considering the formatting on the keys is more standard. By which I mean that the shift mode functions, letter or symbols are ABOVE the default for each key.
For who knows what reason, a lot of gaming keyboards seem to put the shift mode function symbol or letter next to or BELOW the default key designation. As a mostly competent touch typist this can be a minor annoyance, but for keys and symbols I don't use regularly I sometimes need to spot check, and weird keycap formatting can annoy me.
As someone who last bought a gaming keyboard 15 years ago (Original G15,) this keyboard is better for my usecase in almost everyway, minus one: the lack of a volume control wheel. This isn't to say that the media controls on the keyboard are bad. They work great, especially if you are willing to make use of the Inverted Function key mode provided in the software. This sets the media controls and lighting controls as always on unless the FN key on the bottom row is held down, which is the opposite of the default control.
All I wanted from the lighting was something just bright enough to see under my monitor when I have the lights in my gaming room down low. Instead I got a surprisingly fun set of animations that I actually make use of.
Lastly, compared to my last keyboard, this looks very easy to clean. Consider me a fan of the floating key design.
It has nice weight, is sturdy and easy to take compressed air to dust clean.
I got used to the volume controls quick.
the software makes it super easy to change colors on a per app scheme.
cons- the finger 'bumps' on the f & j keys are not easily felt and I found my hands on the wrong keys. I used the replacement ASD keys because they feel different.
for a keyboard it is pricey, but it will last me for years. I work and game. you can't game on a wireless keyboard. It has one USB port on the right back for a mouse (or whatever you want). EVERY key is programmable and can be changed automatically when you launch an app.
You like MS Excell, color code it how you use it.

Realmente me surpreendeu bastante.
RGB lighting is a bit over the top but totally customisable for gaming.
Only 4 stars as no dedicated media keys but can live without. Additional deep profile keys a great addition, installed immediately 👍
