It's a shame that this Cookbook seems to be out of print. Nick Nairn is truly talented! Everything I have tried so far (three to be exact) from this cookbook has turned out wonderfully. It gives Scottish cooking a good name!

We had the pleasure of seeing Nick Nairn cook on the Great British Menu series while staying in London. I purchased this cookbook here in the US and have found almost every recipe I've tried to be outstanding. His pairings of ingredients (from Carrot, Ginger & Honey Soup to Baked Hake with Celeriac Puree, Red Wine Sauce and Crispy Parma Ham to Caramelized Rice Pudding with Blueberry Compote) are sublime. The description of each recipe is brilliant -- the instructions lead you through each part of the dish in the most logical order so that everything is done perfectly at the end. If you enjoy cooking, do get this book!

"We" means -- wife loves it.
A mixed marriage----I'm pure Scot but wife(Aussie born) had --- Dad-Norwegian(nee Gottaas- 4th Gen Aussie)- Mother of English/Irish/Swiss and Queensland. Me ----Scots--as per cookbook---then brought up in Fiji -NZ - Aust. and ex Merchant Navy.Next door ---from Bangalore.3 son -in-laws-1 Filipino-1 Croatian and1 a bloody Aussie and vegan to boot.
SO what to cook
ps. Wife has over 1000 cookbooks

Lots of quite good recipes in the book but (as a Scot) as far removed from traditional cooking in my homeland as I can remember. If the readers seek traditional Scottish recipes, ditch this modern attempt, and go buy "haste Ye back" - much more authentic. Please, for non-Scots, this is NOT true Scottish food.
