Delinquent Season is a suspenseful romance that portrays the lives of two families who become tangled in unforeseen ways. Based in Dublin Ireland, the strain in two marriages puts them all in a position to make a decision that will not only affect themselves, but their families as well. Delinquent season is flirty and fun with a touch of suspicion in everyone’s lives. The mysterious tone of this film constantly kept me wondering what would happen next. Cillian Murphy and Eva Birthistle will learn that bad consequences are often disguised as beautiful decisions.

Having never have seen an Irish film, I wasn’t sure what to expect when first viewing The Delinquent Season. The movie is a romantic drama that focuses on two married couples that seem to be together in harmony but is slowly revealed to have serious problems. The movie surprised me by how dark and suspenseful it was, featuring many plot twists and raw scenes that display the problems the couples face from adultery. Director Mark O’ Rowe does a great job in capturing my attention throughout the movie with emotional scenes that the actors do a great job in performing. An entertaining film overall, I will be looking for more work by O ‘Rowe in the future.

I really liked how we, the viewers at home, got a chance to see the consequences of the affair fully play out. I think a lot of romance movies (especially romantic comedies) tend to have a favorable view of cheating which is kind of messed up in my opinion. Without giving too much away, with this film we get to see exactly what kind of strain that the affair has on the two marriages, which is an angle I appreciated. Solid flick.
