Stull - EP

Urge Overkill’s last album for Touch & Go happened to provide these Chicago underdogs with the fluke hit that defined their entire career. Their cover of “Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon” brought the band’s latent Neil Diamond fixation to the surface, and for all its familiarity, their version of the famous song sounded like nothing else on modern rock radio in the '90s. Even at an abbreviated six tracks, Stull might be the band’s defining statement. The groovy title song is the best driving music this car-bound band ever made. Meanwhile, the majestically mischievous “Goodbye to Guyville” teases Liz Phair while mimicking Neil Young.
