Before purchasing a product, I take an extensive look at reviews especially one star reviews because I have been burned with buyer’s remorse for purchasing things that did not meet my expectations, or were downright worthless. I must admit that this feeling guided my judgment regarding whether it was worth making a purchase of this product: especially at the stated price. Nonetheless, I took the plunge and made the purchase all the same. After owning it for two months, I am more than happy for making the decision. I stand fully behind all the other 5 star reviewers in stating that the value for money that this product offers is fantastic, and if brand name is not among your primary guide for purchasing consumer electronics then this is for you. I will cover as much as I can in this review
* Battery - I have owned a myriad of Bluetooth devices. This is one of my first two devices to operate on Bluetooth 4.0 low energy. I have paired it up with a host of devices from my Asus Vivobook X202 to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and Apple iPad Air 2. It works flawlessly on all devices. Battery life is exceptionally good on the PH-BT3. The battery indicator is visible on iOS, and I have gone days consistently playing various audio and leaving it on standby. After two months of light-to-moderate use, the battery level has reached about 65%. By contrast the BOSE AE2w, my previous headphones, would make it to close to its stated time of 8 hours or less before requiring a recharge. If you are a heavy user you will most likely meet the stated battery time advertised, but if you use it sparingly. You can go weeks without recharging.
* Ergonomics - I have a round big head. Nonetheless, I have no problem adjusting the headphones to accommodate it. These fit quite comfortably with no discomfort. They are
* Sound - I am not a sound expert, but from my experience as a casual user, the sound quality is quite good. I use these headphones primarily to listen to a lot of podcasts as well as play music. The speakers are heavy on normal bass. That said it does do a fair reproduction of mids and highs. One area where these headphones do disappoint is in sound insulation. This device easily leaks. Conversely, I was able to pick up a conversation from my colleagues fairly easily whilst listening to audio on my headphones. One would have to set the volume to unhealthy levels before they can block out external sounds. Of course you are likely to be just as disturbing with the leak from these. If you are looking for headphones to use on flight trips, these might not be up to par. With direct connection via the audio cables, the sound quality improves but this will be more useful when the battery is low/dead.
* Practicality - It helps that this device, like many others out there comes with an audio cable that can substitute for the Bluetooth functionality. The hard case also helps to keep the device protected during my daily commutes. Unlike my AE2w, which lacked a hard case, there are fewer parts with these headphones. The AE2w has a Bluetooth dongle that connects to the headphones before one can hear audio, and the audio cable is more fragile with its crooked connector to the dongle. That is not the case here.
To sum it up. These are quite a bargain worth purchasing. My skepticism quickly receded after buying and using the device for a prolonged time. I have not experienced any of the problems some have cited in the lower reviews. If the device does not meet your expectation, by all means, claim a refund. Although, I am inclined to believe that you have a defective unit. Definitely worth the purchase.

Build quality let me down
I cant believe the quality Im getting at such a reasonable price!I tested the following BT headsets before deciding on the Photives. All the following headphones were also highly rated by consumers: Sony DR-BTN200 , Creative Labs WP-380, Rokit Boost Swage 2 (The original Swage sounds much better.Got these for my wife.), MEElectronics Air-Fi Matrix2 AF62 (aesthetically almost the same headset).Either the listed headphones had too much bass, lacking mid's and hi's, bass drowning out anything over 1 khz, poor fitting and button placement, or just all around poor sound reproduction. Im not a sound expert but the Photives offered the best balanced listening experience, from podcast to classical and anything in between. Im satisfied. Also, the mic quality is pretty darn good. My wife hears me well and I can hear her clearly..... something MEElectronic's Air-Fi Matrix2 AF62 was lacking.UPDATE 4/6/14:Oddly, over the weekend, the ear-cup literally detached from the headband, see attached image. This has never happened with any of my headphones, cheap or expensive. I spoke to a rep ( 1.800.339.9960, Butterfly Photo ,just in case you wondering how to contact a rep) and he said that this is not covered under warranty because it's not from normal wear and tear. I immediately corrected the guy and mentioned that when you have a small piece of plastic attaching a rotating ear-cup to a headband, this is definitely doomed to happened. He stuck to his guns and said this incident is not covered. I gave it one last try and we concluded that I would send a picture and the company will decide if its covered. Sadly, if they cant replace these headphones, I will no longer buy products from this company and nor will they be recommended.At the end of the day, I love the sound from these headphones but they need to use better materials. Yes they are affordable but there are cheaper Sony headphones that will last longer.UPDATE 4/7/14:Kervin from Photive sent an email stating the following....."Unfortunately, our warranty does not cover any damage done to the headphones. We apologize for the inconvenience. " He also sent a link to other Photive products. He had to be joking! The product is poorly constructed and Im not going to purchase another one of their poorly built products, not happening!
