Joey Kern brilliantly captures a modern day bachelor party gone wrong. In this film, things take a turn for the worst after Joe shows up to his bachelor party dumped and heart broken by his fiancée who is leaving him for another man. There were so many moments in this film where my mouth literally dropped from pure shock. This film was raunchy and vulgar all while being absolutely hysterical. I also liked how in the mix of all of this, Big Bear symbolized facing your fears and problems head on, which is a valuable lesson for everyone. Not only would guys love this film but I really wouldn't mind getting a group of my girl friends to all watch it with me again too.

This movie reminded me of a darker version of The Hangover… in a good way. I think the choices Joey Kern made in writing this movie we all really carefully chosen. Without giving any spoilers, the trailer seemed liked another bro movie like This Is The End or Hot Tub Time Machine but it really became something original in the hints of more serious topics it talked about. Once I realized this movie was meant to be more of a dramedy than a comedy, I thought it was really well thought out and made for more than just comedy lovers or men. I would definitely say this is a movie for all different kinds of moviegoers. That combined with the fact that this was Joey Kern’s first time writing and directing a movie has me excited to see what he works on next. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a comedy with a twist.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a comedy that makes me want to recommend it to everyone I know. When I saw Big Bear I knew it was going to be one of those movies you turn to anytime you’re feeling sad or need a good laugh. The movie takes place in Big Bear, CA where the scenic views take your breath away, and when you add comedy to these backdrops, you’re left with an amazing cinematic experience. In a movie about a guy going out for a wild night with his friends after being dumped by his fiancée for another man, I found myself in admiration of the great storytelling that Joey Kern brings the film through his role as director. The buddy comedy feel you get from this movie is refreshing and the acting from Adam Brody (The O.C.), Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) and Joey Kern is comedic gold. I was shocked to see Pablo Schreiber playing such a different character from his role in Orange is the New Black, but his transition seemed effortless. I loved how the film was not only hilarious but had a fantastic story to go with it. I know this movie will remain one of my favorites for a long time and I can’t recommend it enough.
