About the authors
Under the names Livia J. Washburn and L.J. Washburn, Livia Reasoner has been writing award-winning, critically acclaimed mystery, western, romance, and historical novels for almost thirty years. She began to write in collaboration with her husband, author James Reasoner, and soon branched out into telling her own stories.
In addition to writing, Livia enjoys photography, arts, crafts, and cooking, but she also loves having a pile of lumber, a circular saw, and a building project. An accomplished carpenter, she has framed houses and built more sets of bookshelves than she can remember, some of which have been filled with the books she's written. A good day for her includes having time to create something new in the kitchen, on a story, and in the garage.
Livia lives in the Texas countryside with her husband, and her dogs. Her websites can be found at www.liviajwashburn.com, and she blogs when she can find the time at http://liviajwashburn.blogspot.com.
L.J. WASHBURN has been writing award-winning, critically acclaimed mystery, western, and historical novels for more than forty years. L.J. received the Private Eye Writers of America paperback original award and the American Mystery award for the first book in the Lucas Hallam Mystery series, WILD NIGHT, and was nominated for a Spur by the Western Writers of America for a novel written with James Reasoner. Washburn also won the Western Fictioneers Peacemaker Award for the story “Charlie’s Pie” and was nominated for two more stories, “Widelooping a Christmas Cowboy” and “Panhandle Freight”.
Washburn’s Hallam novels about an older cowboy who works as a riding extra in Hollywood during the 1920’s when he isn’t working as a PI, and a Lucas Hallam collection of short fiction including the first story, was republished by Wolfpack Publishing’s Rough Edges Press in 2022.

This book is a collection of stories about Lucas Hallam, the Old West cowboy that had lived and survived many a shootout, worked as a Texas Ranger, and leaned against many a bar, hefting the drink of choice for the day. Now he has moved into the next century and obtained his Private Investigator license, but he works as an extra on movies to supplement his income. They never have to supply him with clothes as he has all of those in his closet and prefers to use his own. Using the same gun that had taken down many of an owlhoot and numerous times had saved his life.
Join Lucas as he takes on PI cases and continues his movie extra jobs…
What did I like? This book is like looking at two different worlds, the past and the future. Many cases are made just for Lucas, requiring him to use his frontier knowledge to get the job done.
What will you like? Exciting, glamourous, mysterious, and dangerous. The exciting cases with some heart-stopping moments will get your imagination in gear for the Lucas Hallam way of getting things done. Don’t miss this fantastic collection of short stories in LJ Washburn’s “Hallam: A Lucas Hallam Short Fiction Collection,” which is available NOW!!!
