Sarah worries that she has to choose Emma over Katie and what would Emma think of her with a woman. What about the Tabloids and the things they would say. The first think Katie told Sarah the day they met in set was she didn't like kids and couldn't imagine being a mother.
Many ups and downs and each person may just find out what they are made of!
One thing that stuck out to me was when, Katie, the former child star is dumped (temporarily, because this is an HEA!) by Sarah, she muses that the director is doing what's best for the movie, Sarah is doing what's best for her daughter, but who is looking out for her? It shows, very well, with minimal wording, her feelings about how she was treated as a child star. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
And Sarah's using the excuse of "just doing what is best for my child" when she breaks it off with Katie, instead of really looking at why - newly coming out, what will people think? - etc., is so typical of single parents. (I know, since I did it myself!).
It can be difficult (judging by other stories) to write children well. The author did a superb job with the daughter. She was a real person, a real child, and the relationships with others were well done.
Just beautifully written. Can't wait to read more by this author.
