The Redragon M990 Legend certainly lives up to it's name: it's legendary. I first came across this mouse a few years ago, and I was really into MMORPGs at the time. I wanted to find a mouse that would be useful not only for whatever MMO I happened to be playing at the time, but one that wouldn't be awkward or troublesome to use for everyday tasks either. With that in mind, I set out shopping and found a lot of the usual suspects- Razer, Corsair, Logitech, etc. While those are solid companies, none of their mice really "wow"'d me. So, I went farther and farther down the list, and eventually I stumbled upon a company called Redragon- a company that I hadn't really heard anything about and neither did anyone else I asked (a lot of the people you talk to probably haven't heard of them either, if you ever somehow end up discussing mice). I checked out what they had to offer, and I was pretty surprised. Not only do they have a wide selection of products to choose from, but they're also super reasonably priced when compared to their competitors! If you wanted to find a mouse that's comparable to this one, you could probably expect to pay easily 150%-200% more, and lose out on some functionality while you're at it. This, combined with never having heard of them, led to a little bit of trepidation on my part, because it really looked to good to be true. In the end, I decided to go for it and believe in Amazon Prime just in case something with the mouse wasn't on the up and up, and I'm glad I did. Now, let's get into what this mouse can do. First of all, this thing has a TON of buttons to choose from. Most mice that I see advertised have up to 12 side buttons that you're able to choose from. I say "most", but in reality, 12 is probably the highest amount you'll be able to find, with a large majority only offering 2 or 3 side buttons. the M990 pretty much leaves all of that in the dust with it's 16 different customizable side buttons. These 4 extra buttons might not seem like much by themselves, but hey, sometimes you just need more buttons. In addition, by using the included software, you're able to assign either a single button press or mouse click, a combination of several buttons, or a whole macro (which you're able to record and store through the same software). Additionally, you're able to assign actions related to the mouse itself, like changing the DPI or cycling through your 5 customizable mouse profiles. If for some reason the 16 physical buttons aren't enough for you, since the profiles all have their own button mapping, you can use them to essentially increase the amount of keys available to you to 80! Additionally, there is a "fire" key located on the left mouse button that can be customized, as well as 4 buttons on top near the mouse wheel that are used to cycle through profiles, lighting, and DPI modes. If that's not enough buttons for you, then you might just need to get a second keyboard and use that instead! On top of having more buttons than you'll probably ever know what to do with, it also has an impressively customizable RGB system. You're able to change the color of the line around the mousewheel and top 4 buttons, as well as the line around the main body of the mouse, and the side buttons- but not the Redragon logo or the mousewheel itself, those colors are static and based on what profile and DPI you have selected respectively. There are 4 different lighting modes to chose from: "Full lighted", which is where you pick a static color, breathing, which is pretty much just like full light, but the color will fade out then back in to the same color, flash, which is pretty much breathing, but the color changes every cycle and there is no fade in or out, and a secret fourth mode that doesn't have a setting pane in the software, and can be accessed by pressing the color change key on the mouse while being in the flashing mode. This additional mode is kind of like a mix between breathing and flashing; it will cycle through the same series of colors, but will fade in and out instead of just turning off completely. You're able to pick what colors you want through the software, as well as what you want the brightness to be (low, medium, or high), and if the effect you chose has a transitional effect (breathing or flashing), then you're also able to pick the speed of those transitions (low, medium, or high). The only thing that would be kind of cool that this mouse doesn't have is the ability to individually color the buttons on the side of the mouse, but hey, it's a mouse, how often are you going to be looking at the buttons if your thumb is going to be over them most of the time anyways? Aside from the lighting and the buttons, this mouse also has the ability to set 5 different DPI modes which are shared between profiles, as well as acceleration, pointer speed, scroll speed, etc. There are also 8 removable weights on the bottom of the mouse so that you can adjust the weight of it just in case you find it too heavy or light. It's also pretty durable and reliable, I'm on my second one now in the past almost 4 years, and that's no fault of the mouse- I do a lot of clicking and the mechanism just started to wear out, but other than that I haven't had any issues with them. All in all, if you're looking for an affordable mouse with top of the line features, I don't know of any other mice that I could recommend any more than this one!
