First Android Tablet After Years of iPads
This is my first Android tablet and I am thrilled with the Xperia Z4. All of my previous tablets have been iPads since its inception (iPad v1 iPad Air). Here are some thoughts and observations:* Xperia Z4 display is flawless, bright* The volume buttons are very hard to find the first time if you are not in daylight. So I included a photo. They are on the left side and are black.* Device can be charged with any quality, micro USB cable. It does come with one but you can use other non proprietary cables.* The Android Live Animated Wallpaper is A Strong Hint that the Google OS is very much superior to the current iOS (Apple)* The stereo speakers do distinctly separate the right and left channels and sound great* A free app to consider "All in One Gestures" allows you to add several hot-spot shortcuts to the display. You can then add a hot-spot so that you can quickly see the volume sound bar and adjust if you do not want to use the manual buttons on the left.* Here is the glass screen protector that I purchased for the tablet and is a must have to immediately protect your device. MOTONG Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Tempered Glass Screen Protector, 9 H Hardness, 0.3mm Thickness,Made From Real Glass, Shatterproof* Here is the case that I purchased. Again, the tablet is thin and light and you will want to protect it immediately upon arrival. MoKo Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Case - Slim-Fit Multi-angle Folio Cover Case for Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet 10.1 inch Andriod 5.0 Device, INDIGO* If you are an iPad convert, you can find just about any app or its equivalent that is available in iTunes App Store.* The Google Play Music app is similar to the iTunes Music app. I had no trouble playing all of my iTunes purchases with Google Music Play.

I had the original Tablet S and Z. I had not seen a great improvement in the Z2 and was perfectly content with the Z which is still a great tablet but I was intrigued in this one because it stepped up to 2K, is lighter, crazy thin, more powerful and still waterproof. To me it justified an upgrade; however, one big problem.... it wasn't released in the states. Are you kidding me???? This thing blows away apple and Samsung hands down. Sony continues it's tradition of making amazing mobile products and selling them everywhere but in the America's. Luckily Amazon had partners who sold this and at a great price. So I took the risk and ordered this. Luckily the seller was good and got the UK version of this tablet shipped form Beijing. It was all legit and the product was brand new :) Still can't believe the US is missing out on this wafer thin power house.

The tablet comes packed with an eight-core 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, latest in the market. 32 internal gb though I would like 64 it's a decent amount especially because i paired it with a 200 gb micro sd. The screen is simple gorgeous... 2k bright and crisp. Makes my Tablet Z's beautiful screen look dull and dark. Of course, Sony pretty much pioneered waterproofing and still doesn't get credit for it. I didn't test out the waterproofing because I'm not an idiot and not curious. I treat this beauty as if it wasn't waterproof and just like the fact that in an emergency or major accident I have that extra protection. This version came with an sim card for data use. It was only 10 bucks more than the wifi version so i figured i get it for possible use in the future. Just for kicks I tested it it out and it functions as a phone!!!!! Pair this with a smart watch or nfc earphones and your set! Huge bonus. This thing is razor thin... thinner than my z3 phone! I defy anyone to find a thinner tablet than this.

The performance is smooth, no lag and super fast. Sony's UI is minimal and no bloatware so it's clean waiting for you to add apps. Sony's propriety music and video apps are decent. I ended up buying the cradle keyboard from Sony which turned this tablet into a pseudo PC! That is what makes this tablet the ultimate. Wish I could have bundled this but had to buy the keyboard from a UK store! The keyboard essentially turns this tablet into a minipc where you can easily do word processing! and Sony even included software in their UI turning chrome into a sort of windows lay out with the bar at the bottom and customization apps making the experience like windows! I know it's hard to believe but believe it, it was a seamless desktop experience! I ended getting the keyboard for 170 US. All in all given the quality, and the diverse functionality, the price was well worth it. I cannot emphasize how much the keyboard dock improves this already awesome tablet. I honestly cant imagine having this tablet without the keyboard. Awesome experience!

If you are in the market for a versatile beautiful powerful gorgeous laptop..... junk the iPad and forget the Samsung. This is premium awesomeness when it comes to tablets. HIGHLY recommend this. Literally the best tablet out there, no joke. I suppose the only joke is that more people don't know about it.

Fantastic device and very fast. My only issue is that it eats battery but I like my screen very bright. If Sony can do something about the battery life, I will upgrade to 5 Stars.

I got the LTE Version and got a Data Plan and Sim through T-Mobile for $10 bucks a month. Can't beat that.

Be aware, my Sony Xperia Tablet Z4 came with a European charger and an adapter to convert it to work with US outlets. I didn't mind because I use an Anker 5-port desktop charger anyways, but I was surprised to say the least.

I am a computer engineering student and technology enthusiast and my tablet is the only device I have continued to upgrade every year while in college (just for fun). I have had all of Sony's 10-inch tablets and will continue to buy them. For the same price as an iPad, you get one of the fastest chipsets (octa-core!), top-end hardware, 4G-LTE, a sleek design, and waterproofing. Every time they release one of these I wonder how it could possibly get better, and every time I order one Sony blows my mind. Here are some of the things which impressed me the most this time:

- Sony raised the screen resolution to 2.5k, which makes the pixels too small to see with the naked eye. This makes reading my textbooks very natural, especially when looking at diagrams and pictures. Everything just looks better.

- Sony changed the design a little. They made the bezels smaller and rounded off the edges of the tablet more. The back is also a new type of plastic. The Z4 is much more pleasant to look at and feels really good in the hands. They might have perfected the body. Definitely the best feeling tablet I have ever held.

- It has an 8-core processor now! When I did my research, there was confusion over this. Some sites called it quad-core while other sites called it octa-core. The first thing I did when I got it was run CPU-Z. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which includes TWO quad-core chips: A Cortex A57 clocked at 1.96 GHz which is the muscle and runs your apps while you are actively using it. It also has a Cortex A53 clocked at 1.56 GHz. The Cortex A53 is designed to be extremely power efficient, so when you have the screen off your apps run on this slower chip in the background, often at 300 MHz using very little battery. It is pretty ingenious.

- Android Lollipop, version 5.0.2 is what it runs. There is something about this tablet. I have never had a problem with the Z1 or Z2 or my S5, but there is something about this tablet that just seems buttery-smooth on a level I haven't had before. I can't put my finger on it (err, well, yes I can). This tablet is just extremely responsive. I really like the app switcher too, the way the snapshots are larger. Sony has always been really good about not theming over android much, and this is as close to AOSP as you are going to get without getting a Nexus device.

- You can uninstall the pre-loaded bloatware. Maybe the first time in history an OEM has allowed me to do this.

- It is completely submersible, and I put this to the test. I go to the hot tub and do my reading for class there all the time and people cannot believe I have a tablet in the water. To me, it just seems silly not to buy a waterproof device these days. Why should a little rain, coffee, or an accident around a pool cost you $600?

- Sony tablets have been very durable in the past. Sad to say I had dropped my Z1 and Z2 multiple times, and you basically have to drop it on granite multiple times to break them. I am being more careful with my Z4.

- If you have a PS4, you can use this to play games remotely similar to how the Wiimote works. I am pretty sure Sony has extended this to work from anywhere in the world now, not just on your home Wifi. Obviously your ping must be reasonable. I am a PC gamer so I can't try this, but I really wish I had a PS4 so I could.

Cons:
- European charger (not Sony's fault)
- Sony removed the infrared blaster, which allows you to use it as a remote control.

TL;DR
This is just a flat piece of glass with a computer in it. Everything about it is perfect and I couldn't imagine a better tablet, aside from putting the IR blaster back. This is one of the best android experiences I have had on a device. If you just want to be happy with your tablet, this is it.

Tablet works as well as an ipad, but it has a fatal flaw. Sony does not sell parts to repair the tablet. They also do not have repair centers that will repair the tablet. In other words if you drop it or the battery needs to be replaced, your options are unusually limited. The Sony 1-800 number referred me to ebay to try to find parts out of China but said they cannot guarantee that the parts I buy from third parties would work.

None of this is disclosed in the description or on the Sony website. They do have a warranty period but the warranty is limited and does not cover an aging battery or a broken screen digitizer. For the price of this product, Sony customers deserve better.

Yet another sony product that is lack-luster with thousands of bugs.

for the normal consumer who just wants a tablet for no reason, it's good.

however if you plan on using this a LOT... think again, as it tends to overheat, freeze apps, and eat the battery 30x faster than it claims it will.

I only can't give 5 stars because the image crashes a lot when trying to play the PS4 on it even with my $150 D-Link Wireless router and the PS4 connected by cable to it. The other problem is, the system uses a lot of Ram, it's a bummer to play games that crashes on it, even if it has 3GB of Ram.
