I loved this story, Markinson writes interesting stories about interesting people. This story revolves around Lizzie and her wife Sarah. Sarah is a stay at home mom for their twins, she and her mother Rose were always very close until recently. Lizzie is a college professor and writer. She loves her wife and children and depends on Sarah for the stability she needs in life. Lizzie has significant difficulty with social interactions and reading social clues as she was raised in a very disfunctional family but Sarah helps Lizzie process various social issues.
Lizzy is happy with her life both at school and home until her ex partner Meg reenters her life wanting to make amends with Lizzie and re-enter her life. Very few people in Lizzie's life no the significant challenges that Meg presented when she was involved with Lizzie including blackmail , extortion, and trying to get Lizzy to lose not only her job but her partner Sarah. Lizzy is at a crossroad in her life now that Meg is back and she stands to lose her family and places her job in jeopardy unless she finds a way to get Meg out of her life once and for all. Will she be able to do that? Will Sarah be able to support Lizzie in the way she needs?
Markinson write stories with characters that are flawed yet very human. She does a terrific job with this story and developing the complications that a complicated family situation can present. I love the story if you're thinking about purchasing this book do yourself a favor and get the book.

The first book in this series introduced us to Lizzie, she was deeply flawed, but so relatable, it was a great book, and as the series continues and you get to watch Lizzie grow as a person and build a real family out of the lovable supporting characters in this series you will feel a since of warmth and pride in her, even tho shes a fictional character you really feel her struggle to build a good life and be a good person

This book like the others has stakes and conflict, but it doesnt fall on unnatural lack of communication, the various characters love and respect each other while still having things they cant easily get over, its realistic but full of hope. I love these books

The next entertaining episode of Lizzie and Sarah's lives continue. The twins are now one, super cute and adorable and Sarah organizes a big celebration. Any time the extended family gets together, there is drama and TB Markinson delivers without fail! I've been hooked to this series since Book 1 and very curious to know what's in store for super nerd and hapless, Lizzie. The appearances of a former student and also ex made Lizzie's life even more challenging as she takes on more classes for her mentor. In addition, Lizzie surprises herself by having to play the stronger role when Sarah has a problem accepting her mom's new found beau.
Very entertaining and I had to simply finish this in 1 sitting and can't wait for the next installment, as usual. I hope this is turned into a mini-series one of these days!

This whole series, (A Woman Lost), is one of my favorites. And, I've read them all. I love the "love" between Sarah and Lizzie. Their relationship, is what I believe we all strive for. Ya, there's arguments, but the love they have...and the sex?...very nice😊 Lizzie hasn't had the best life growing up, but it's complete now. With Sarah, their twins (twinks), Ollie and Fred, and the whole extended family/friends. However, when the terrible ex, Meg arrives, you have to hope Lizzie doesn't lose everything by going back to her. This is a MUST read and hopefully not the final chapter in this series!

For those in search of intimacy, there are plenty of scenes to enjoy without feeling that they’ve been added just for titillation as they are expressions of Lizzie and Sarah moving their relationship along in an arc of the book.
As always, love Markinson’s writing and characterisation flowing through the book.
