This is the camera that turned me from Canon to Sony

This is the camera that turned me from Canon to Sony
The Sony FS7 is an odd camera. Odd in the sense that when it was announced, all professionals sort of tilted there heads in curiosity and said, "What? That can't be right." At $7,999.99 for the body, there is nothing within a very wide price range that can compete with the specs on this camera. The FS7 boasts internal 4k UHD 10bit 422 up to 60fps, and up to 180fps 1080p in 10bit 422. That's crazy. The closest competitor to this camera when first announced was Sony's own F5, which strangely enough at the time did not even have 4k internal recording, yet the camera body alone started at $15,999.99. Soon after the C300mkii was announced as Canon's 4k competitor, with no 4k slow motion and only a cropped 120fps (which looks like garbage), and a base price of $15,999.99 for the body. As far as specs go, there is no other camera you can get unless you plan on spending twice the money to match this. Now, specs are one thing, but how does the camera perform? I think if you look around the internet, you'll quickly find that the FS7 gives you absolutely fantastic results in many production settings, whether it be studio or out on the documentary field. It is currently the #1 rented camera in the world, surpassing the original Canon C300. Vice has moved the filming on the FS7 and A7s. This camera, at the moment and for the foreseeable future, is dominating the world of cinema. There are two things I highly suggest you do:First, go to Vimeo and watch Philip Bloom's 52 minute review of this camera. If nothing else sells you on this camera, that review will. Also, if you do plan on buying this camera, you need to rent Doug Jensen's FS7 Masterclass on Vimeo. It is filled with a wealth of information that has helped me learn my camera tremendously faster than had I only read the manual. The only thing I have mixed emotions about on the camera is the lens mount. On the down side, Sony E-Mounts are just about the weakest and flimsiest mounts you can get. They will not hold very much weight and will absolutely bend over time if you do not take care of it with lens supports. However, having an E-Mount opens this camera up to many new possibilities, most notably through the Metabones adapters. Metabones makes adapters from Canon, Nikon, and many other mounts to E-Mount, making your lens selection massive. They've also developed a Speedbooster Adapter, and thanks to this your image will go from standard S35 frame to Full Frame equivalent, and also let in one more stop of light. This is a major benefit and opens up loads of new opportunities.Between the stunning 4k 10bit image, beautiful 1080p super-slow motion, 24bit uncompressed 48khz audio through the XLRs, and so many other features, I cannot recommend this camera enough. You will absolutely not regret this purchase.
