I’ve been working with wood for nearly 4 decades from garages and decks to furniture and clocks. I find a palm sander like this extremely useful. Smaller pieces are finished with hand block sanding. However, a palm sander is very useful in rough sanding, rounding sharp edges and corners, and tasks that require less wood removal than a hand plane. I’ve had this B&D sander about 6 months and have used it several times. It replaced my previous B&D palm sander that lasted about 30 years of regular use. This one seems of comparable quality and I’m very satisfied with it so far.

The sliding switch went bad after a couple of months and loosely flops from side to side making it impossible to lock in place. Therefore, the palm switch that turns it on and off depending on the pressure you put on it, is difficult to engage or engages too easily when you're trying to put on a new sandpaper because the lock switch can not be locked into place. It just flops from side to side. Otherwise it's an easy to handle sander. However that small switch going bad makes it difficult to use. Therefore, only 3 stars.

Lo recomiendo enormemente para trabajos tanto amateurs como profesionales, ya sean de carpintería o hasta alfarería. La inclusión de un extractor de polvo ayuda mucho también en mantener limpio el lugar de trabajo y evitar que se tapen las ventilas para circulación de aire del motor. Adicional, recomiendo usar lijas con recubrimiento antiempastante como el estearato de zinc, ya que evita el tapado prematuro de la lija y prolonga la utilidad del grano abrasivo - el cual puede ser preferentemente óxido de aluminio de alta calidad o "seeded gel" - lo cual también disminuye la cantidad de lijas necesarias; esto especialmente en la remoción de lacas o barnices u otros polímeros selladores de la superficie.
