The recommended scaling is 150% and that works well for most windows programs. Lightroom CC does not respond to system scaling, so the scaling has to be set in Lightroom preferences to large (again at 150%) and all is well. It is kind of a shame to waste pixels with scaling, but the result is crystal sharp and text is very smooth.
a) Install X-Rite software, and in Windows Color Management, set "X-Rite Linear" as default ICC profile.
b) Load i1Profiler (X-Rite) - do not use Asus ProArt Calibration (results to too much red)
c) On the monitor, chose the "DarkRoom" profile.
d) Chose 120 cd/m2 in the software (default value).
e) Chose "manual settings for RGB" in the software.
f) Chose the largest measuring panel (the most squares) in the software.
g) During measurement, when it asks for the RGB values, (Advanced settings in the monitor), try to keep the Red below the others - for example, R-47, G-48, B-49, while paying attention to be as close as possible to the target Kelvin temp as shown in the software screen. As far as brightness, follow the software, and if you want less or more, do it after the calibration. Try not to raise any value above 51 - the more you raise them, the more reddish it'll be. Try to balance them below 50. You'll get PERFECT COLOR this way.
h) Follow the rest of the process, save your ICC profile with a unique name, and then in Windows Control Panel Color Management set it as default. Restart.
-- X-Rite has extensive instructions on the topic, that's the summary.
-- Do not set Firefox to setting "1". It will result to very reddish color. Leave it in default values.
What's missing from this monitor: For users not wanting to go manual (Darkroom), customized settings are missing from the automatic (AdobeRGB and sRGB) profiles.
-- IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU' RE DOING WITH COLOR SPACES AND CALIBRATION, BUY THE sRGB VERSION OF THIS MONITOR INSTEAD, AND OPERATE WITH YOUR WINDOWS DEFAULT COLOR SPACE. This is a very good monitor, but its AdobeRGB version requires the above process at a minimum, and further photo editing requires that you know what you' re doing. Posting AdobeRGB photos online without converting it first, results in muted colors. This is a monitor for those who print fine art images, not for people who post photos online (all internet platforms are sRGB).
Let me tell you I've gone through 4 different monitors 3 were 4K and one was the Acer Predator x34 ( which was amazing on PC but console.. no.) I hooked this thing all up and booted up I couldn't believe my eyes. Crystal clear and the colors.... the colors... insane. It displays the Xbox one S in 4K and with 12 bit color! It's gorgeous. There was a slight moment where I got a bit scared I saw a line down the middle of the screen where the left side and right side weren't synced up. Turned off and turned on it was fine. No problems since so far. If you love gaming and are looking for that wow factor for your Xbox one S or even PS4 pro this is for you. I'm using the preset scenery mode. And haven't touched any setting there is absolutely no need too. Other 4K monitors looked good yes, but nothing like this. 5ms and I don't see anything lack with performance when I'm gaming.
Attached is a quick picture that doesn't even do the justice for this thing.

- Noticeable high pitch whine when bright things are on the screen .
- sRGB calibration is great out of the box, but the monitor should allow the user to lower the brightness and override the color space setting like dell monitors do. In order to view in sRGB with a darker screen you're forced to use a calibration device. The monitor is too bright on the factory sRGB setting - it actually hurt my eyes. I'm disappointed I had to send this back, and I'm still waiting for my Amazon refund.
Top reviews from other countries
On the negative side: The power button is unreliable. On number of occasions it became unresponsive an it took several attempts to turn the monitor on. I am not sure if this is some kind of defect or anomaly I run into?
I've read almost all reviews on Amazon.com, and despite the negative reviews pointing to the same problems I had, I decided to buy this product hoping that I would be on the good side of those reviews. I was wrong!
The first monitor came with dark/bright area (see picture) that wasn't IPS glow. Yes, all IPS monitors leak light and that's something I understand and accept. However, the area marked by the red rectangle never goes away doesn't matter which background colour is used or how bright the environment is. It will stay there.
Second monitor came with several "bright dots". Asus warranty for premium monitors offers zero bright dots tolerance. Well, loot at the other picture and there are so many greens, and red pixels there that is hard to count!
Is it really the monitor? Could it be my hardware? My video card?
Answer is: NO!
I've connected to 3 other PCs (all Asus motherboards and video cards) and the problem persisted.
The killing blow is that just turning on the monitor without the display port connected the same issue could be verified on both monitors.
Should I try a third time, pay shipping and risk again getting another lemon?
Maybe not.
Hopefully this review save other potential buyers from the trouble I went through.
